    Very interesting video. Thank you for sharing that. I've been in sprayfoam for 25 years and hadn't seen that particular issue come up through bad pour-up practices. Only from a drum of ISO that was an unknown number of years old. I hope the active sprayers out there see this and learn one of the many reasons that daily rig/shop maintenance routines may not be the most fun or rewarding things to do at work but they ultimately save you time, money and many headaches over your lifetime. I have seen some disastrous and extremely costly versions of that happen with bad B-side pour-ups but never the A-side. I was lucky enough to start with an outfit that had very good housekeeping procedures and we poured up at the end of every day into the next job's drum.

    What you saw was dimmer in the iso. Heat the bottom of the iso drum to 160 f then run thru system. That should remove it. Dimmer crystals will still show pressure but thru increased head pressure as they plug the y strainer. The dimmer keeps the mix separated thus two color blend.

    I don't want to dismiss the possibility that there is something wrong with the reactivity of the iso, but in my experience, mixing and pattern issues are typically pressure, ratio and viscosity issues (assuming a clean chamber of course). I don't believe that the chemistry of the reaction has a significant role to play on the spray pattern. From what you said, I do think the pour over barrel was the issue, but maybe the viscosity of the iso was much higher than normal, causing a bad mix. I would be very interested if you tried this again with raising your a side pre heaters by 10-15F and see if it opens up the pattern.

    First thing I thought of was it wasn't mixing correctly in the nozzle, then you said you just used the gun yesterday, then I remembered you saying in a previous video about old chemicals, I'm glad I remembered what you said. Keep up the good work!! Side question how do you guys spray behind a 1 piece bathtub/shower combo? Will you have the plumber pull the tub or is it possible to spray behind it?

    It’s not spinning in the chamber. It’s not a bad mixing chamber? The offset of the side orifices should mix it properly to the wall if it’s a good chamber. Regardless of reactivity.

  • @johnsmith3356
    @johnsmith33562 жыл бұрын

    I would put money that the pour over drum had crystals in it and can almost guarantee there's a partial clog somewhere close to the mixing chamber. Also why it's not swirling in the chamber properly...... always pour over using a paint strainer screen

    @@SprayJones This is the kind of stuff you don't know unless it happens to you. Or someone in the trade with a great reputation like you shows us. Appreciate the information. Did you join any of the convoys? I've been seeing on the news and stuff that people were vandalizing war memorials and other public property. They really think we're dumb enough to believe it's the people standing up for our rights. Just incredible. We all know the type of people who do that and it's not the stand up citizens fighting for us all.

    @@SprayJones Exactly ! & with how much a set of foam as went up since start of covid it is crazy ! The better soloution and way of insulating peoples homes and renovations is becoming unaffordable for the average homeowner & I hate seeing them stuff batts into situations where you know the foam would correct/improve there situation tenfold. The foam jobs are priced high yes but the people think we jam all of that into our pockets and dont realize how much material cost right now. I am lucky to have very low over head but some of these guys around here with 3 rigs and some of em have 2 brand new E30s on board are digging themselves into a hole.

    Your chemistry language is off, it is not causing "linked up" iso. It may have reacted with some water over time from the pour overs, but too much water and it would straight crust and foam and be totally unusable. Hard to say what is going on, but your chemistry talk is fairly inaccurate. JMO.
