It is not softlocked truly cause you can level up the AB by getting rid of the pp and struggle kill mons

Fun fact: apparently this is shiny huntable through soft resets :)

I knew about this but only by total accident. I lost a nuzlocke to chuck here and released my pokemon before finding the NPC. Btw, you don't specifically need an Abra with teleport, it's simply any pokemon that doesn't have access to surf.

You could probably set cianwood as the Pokémon centre for teleport and then put your HM Pokémon into the daycare which might bypass it. At least it works that way in gen 3 I believe.

Soft lock free pokemon is an awesome feature that needs to be implemented firther in the future!

It doesn't actually HAVE to be an abra. You can use any pokemon that can't learn surf or fly and that'll also work since without surf or fly you can't leave the island

No, any teleport pokemon. Thats how you get there in the first place lol. You can't release your last hm pokemon you use daycare first and then you have to teleport back to get there

Cool Fact: If you try to soft lock on Cinnabar Island, it won’t work. Abra will teleport you to the last Pokémon Center you went to before you went to Cinnabar Island

Idk where I heard this before if it was from a streamer of vtuber or whatever but I definitely remember them talking about this part which is wild to me. 😗😂

When I got Pokémon Heartgold second hand, the previous player had left it in a Pokémon centre in Cianwood with only an Abra in the party and no Pokémon in the PC. I just assumed they had transferred all their Pokémon to a GenV game and that the Abra was just one they didn’t care about, and I deleted the save file so I could play the game from the start. But now I know what they were doing.

I found this out the hard way I transferred all my pokemon😂 to pokemon white when I beat the elite four in that game

The real softlock is releasing all Pokemon and leaving your last HM user in Daycare. Then teleporting to Cianwood. But it isn't a softlock, because Tentacool is always available there.

The devs thought of everything. Game Freak puts a decent effort into making it impossible to entirely softlock your game.
