so about the engines, the engines used by this plane are gnome-rhone engines made by the french, those are old engines made for light biplanes not metal planes like in WW2, why there engines where used is because there were lots of them and they where cheap so this plane was made to use those crap engines for cheap while providing a plane for export or occupation or training or recon or CAS thus explaining why there is so many armement configurations of the plane (the 75mm and the other one with mg and 20mm guns or a 50mm gun)

If you are launching low velocity shells across the map, there is a number below the mini map that says the range per grid square. Let's say say at 2:37 there are 3 grid squares which is 350m per square between you and a spotted enemy tank, 350 x 3 is 1,050 so set the range down to 1,050 meters. I use this tactic and it's pretty useful for long range maps, hope it helps!

The reason for the desk fans is the requirements laid out by Germany for the aircraft. When a tank busting plane was needed, the RLM added to their list of requirements to contain an engine that could be mass produced, but wasn't currently in mass production for any of their fighter aircraft. As a result, any aircraft submitted could not use any of the strong engines at the time, such as the DB605 or BMW 801. The given result was the French Gnome-Rhone engines used in this aircraft (Argus As 410 engines were tried in a prototype, delivering only 459 horsepower in WEP. The aircraft ended up 12% overweight and 8% underpowered). The B-2 variant has a much lighter armament than this one, and understandably has much better flight characteristics, as the BK 7.5 cm weights in at around a metric tonne -- significantly lighter than the gun it derives from (PaK 40), but still is a massive strain on the aircraft. Still, a C variant was proposed to use a much stronger Italian engine which could output around 850 hp, but this project was overrun in 1945; another planned variant still, the D variant, planned to use something like a Jumo 211 or BMW 801, but nothing was made out of it.

Due to the aforementioned lack of power, the HS-129s of all variants could jettison their secondary armament (for example, the B3 could jettison its 75mm cannon pod to make it more aerodynamic and therefore give the pilot a better chance of escaping). Notable, this is not available in War Thunder.

i remember buying this thing, when i was just starting out in war thunder i really thought a 75mm gun was cool on a plane! But we already know how this story ends.

I got the rare 75mm puma at 2.0 from a pack recently and that and the hs129 is my favorite troll lineup

I just started using the duck the other day, but today I found out about the ki-109. It also has a 75mm cannon at 2.0 br. It feels much better to fly than the duck as well.

It's true that it's better to fly as well as having a defensive gunner however the rounds the 75mm fires don't have HE filler and are just standard ap which makes it a lot harder to secure kills with
