tbh i'd more likely believe they change it very slightly so that they can track/trace if a particle shows up in the wrong location what file the game is pulling or something. However, thats just because thats a tactic i would do. Because frankly, one pixel being wrong doesn't really matter especially if its already that close. But if you've worked with these particles for years and even put them together, you'd be able to notice that one difference and confirm any suspicions or know the source of a problem.

Both typos of the word are deliberate examples of how much of an idiot it really is! BECAUSE SOMETIMES I _KNOW_ I'LL TYPE "of", within context where "of" is correct, and AUTOcorrect... will change it to "if" anyway! I also apparently make "thst" and "woukd" typos so often that autocorrect thinks they're normal or intentional anymore!! Autocorrect even put down that* second exclamation mark! *it corrected this "thst" correctly though??????????? Case in point, autocorrect ffffing sucks, (it wanted me to say "socks" instead), and it sucks so hard that I often deliberately typo it/leave it typo'd.

There's a lot of weirdness you find when you're a resource pack maker. For example, there are two snowy grass texture files, called grass_block_snow and grass_side_snowed the difference is that the former is smoother than other dirt blocks. Also, bamboo planks and bamboo logs rotated horizontally, uses the same texture except for 3 or 4 stray pixels

​@@PerfectProtagonist it did for a very long time, but I'm not sure it does anymore, the thing I was talking about here was how strangely the minecart texture is mapped to the model.

My guess is that they have a loop something like "every x++ unit of time, particle texture = ("Spark"+x)" and the miscoloured pixel was meant to let them keep track of it while debugging and they just forgot to make the textures the same again after it was done

Also, the critical hit particle is the SAME SHAPE as the firework particle. They screwed up the same shape TWICE!

Seeing the elytra with the fireworks in slow motion made me realize that the particles are emitted from the rocket that is held. Which makes sense, but for some reason I always thought the particles were emitted from the center of the player or at their feet...

The fact I just came from SethBling's video and this was next in line on my TV..

It could be slightly different because whatever program they use for art combines identical frames. So to get the right amount of frames for the firework sparks, one needed to be duplicated but changed slightly so it wouldn't get combined.

I notice this even less than other players. I didn’t get to the end yet, so no elytra. I usually use fireworks and elytra in creative because it’s faster than the regular flying in creative mode.

So I'm kind of guessing, but the main reason for the different spark names is probably because of decrementing the file name. Since the sparks change texture over time, you'll notice they swap between the types. Kind of like a countdown. Then when it hits 1 or 0, it "dies" and the particle is removed. As for why they use so many files, I do not know, nor do I want to know. So much of Java is hardcoded (like the inventory) that it wouldn't surprise me if the particle system requires a specific set of files to work right.

My guess is that someone did that on purpose while working on the rockets, to make it easier for them to distinguish between two different, but identically looking textures.
