If I'm on the hill and can't fly, I groundhandle as much as possible. 2 weeks ago I could slide on my feet through the snow. Kiting is so much fun!

I have been shown a technique of yanking the rear riser as the wing comes up thru the power band in stronger wind. (Ive seen it here on youtube also) It deforms the rear edge and depowers the wing. So, need to hold A's in one hand and the C's in the other. I'm sure you can video and explain it better than I. The reason i mention it, is i fly mainly coastal, where wind speeds generally higher than inland sites. I've watched, with some trepidation, inland pilots with little or no coastal experience try to launch the wing with just the A's. They get pulled hard toward the wing, ending up going under it as it lurches and shoots forward. Maybe not an issue for some, but on tight launch sites, it can be problematic. I call the technique "rear riser ruffle" or "shake and brake".

I've seen top tier pilots say, you should kite 2x the time that you fly. I try to stay close to that ratio.
I see people bang their gliders down during ground handling. A video on gently lowering it would be good.

In the meantime... walk/run toward your falling glider (takes the energy out) and go 'hands up' on the brakes.
All ground handling technics will be great !!! "the bible of ground handling" 😁😉 And also explaining to xc pilots that ground handling is not a F word, not only for take off skills but is also related to flying skills !!! In 2022, 123h flight, 300h ground... 😅🤣

My reply seems to have been blocked, because I pasted helpful links. So, I will just say, look up Andre Bandarra's "Ground Handling Challenge". There, you will find, a progression of ground handling skills, supplemented by user submitted videos (of which, you can find mine, on my channel). I think this would be a terrific collaboration, with Flybubble (I'm talking about Andre, of course, not myself).
I looove ground handling and this particular exercise is very cool. My local flying site has a lot of tourists. We often get applause from onlookers on launch and landing. It's coastal, and we are required to land on the sand, but, if conditions are right, i like to kite and walk the wing over to the grass then bring it down slowly in this "cobra" style.

That sounds like an awesome place to play around with your wing! Glad to hear you're having fun while still getting some practice IN 🥳🙏
Do you have more tips like that ? That's amazing 🤩 thanks a lot 😁

More to come! Thank you🚀
Coming from a paramotor background I thought I had "decent" ground handling. Then I started free flight and soon realised those flat land, light to moderate winds, are nothing compared to kiting on a hill where you can be plucked and dumped so easily.

Kiting on a hill definitely different from flat ground 🔥 It is good to practice both 🦅🙌
Next time show this with a full sized glider, at the lower end of the weight range if possible.

This is with a full sized glider. 😁 Although in this instance I was towards upper end of the weight range of this wing, being at lower end of the weight range wouldn't make any difference to the basic technique shown here. 🪂😀
@oracla

@@flybubblecarlo In the upper end it's considered a miniwing, is it not? It does make a difference since a larger glider is much harder to control in strong wind.

@@oracla Here I was ground handling an Advance PI 3 size 23 at around 85 kg all-up, so at the top of the "Ideal range thermal", the bottom of the "Ideal range Hike & Fly" and well below the "Ideal range mini wing". flybubble.com/advance-pi-3

@@oracla I of course agree that a larger wing is generally harder to control in strong wind than a smaller one. However the basic technique shown in this video remains the same whatever the size of wing and strength of the wind, within reason. Of course there will come a point where the wind is too strong for the size of wing (and skill of the pilot).

@@oracla I'll anyway bear in mind your request to show ground handling with a full sized glider at the lower end of the weight range. 👍
