Dave writes his own work, produces the beats from scratch, plays piano and guitar so alot of the melodies are his own samples too and has been doing damage since 16 years old. in my opinion he is like the equivalent to a Kendrick or J Cole in the UK in the sense that he's more than just a rapper, he's an actual "Artist". I wouldn't consider most rappers as artists nowadays, thats why alot of people respect him and always request his songs
