last will can be errratad so it only trigger if the monster are tributed and destroyed and it will stil be busted

What are you fools are even talking about!? Obviously catapult turtle's effect is to launch a whole ass dragon rider on your sorry ass at mock speed which doesn't decrease their life points to 0 but they instead get sent to the graveyard.

And remember: Catapult Turtle's OPT was an errata. Back in the day, you could fling everything!

Mad Scientist really broke the meta and then has been in the drip for over 20 years 😂

Yugioh card were always super cool with how insane they were. Artwork was peak. (I've never seen modern Yugioh cards so IDK about them)

Now it's, "im gonna sit here for 20mins chain summoning token that deal damage to your life points, but to get one token takes a solid 2-3mins just for the token to trigger the first chain creating a loop" that means I'm unpacking up my deck just repack.

The errata this guy would need to come back would have to be insane, like you can only summon normal fusion monster for the rest of the turn and also cant activate effects for the rest of the turn, even then theres just waaaay to many things you can do with that.

​@@stock_movie1875Or you realize magical scientist can't be ash'd, and if you go into a link that could be ash'd a garura summoned could chain block it, or go into more multiple bodies because magical scientist is not opt, or summon infinity with nova from two level 5 machines that you summon from scientist to provide a negate before getting to combo to have an omni up for ash etc etc etc

It is very interesting that Craig of the Creek had an episode about this card playing topic. Are there any other cards one can use to stop Magical Scientist and Catapult Turtle at the same time?

If you manage to negate Kentreginas attack loss based on your LP, you can use Catapult Turtle to launch a 4000ATK missile on turn 2

The best part is catapult turtle somehow shooting itself at the opponent.

Reminds me of my Utopia deck i built a few years ago. I had like 95% win rate if i started 2nd (thanks to OTK).

I loved my Catapult turtle deck though. I legit had this dack in HS. Was so fun to use. 40 cards. 30 spell 10 monsters. Every hand was a First turn win, if u did it correctly

Though the first FTK was an OCG exclusive problem you see until the west Japan doesn’t limit shit before they release so they had this fun thing where solitaire exodia was teir 0 because draw cards but 3 copies if each was really powerful

The magical scientist combo is why I had 2 barrel behind the doors in my deck back then. 😂

Errata him to summon once per turn, only summon non-effects, but make them able to attack and they're no longer destroyed at the end of the turn. To balance it even more, you can make it so the summoned monster can't be used as a material for the summon of an extra deck monster.

In my game store back in the day I had an angry mother come in and start shouting at me how I cheated her kid because I sold him a Catapult Turtle (probably for $3). When I tried to explain it was part of kill combo it became clear she knew nothing about Yu Gi Oh and was just going on the fact that her son spend money on the game and Turtle’s attack was only 1000 while all the other monsters in his deck were 1500 or more. No thanks for me teaching her son to play the game in the first place.

I remember how simple and not very time consuming the game used to be where you summon a monster then use a magic card to power it up as for why I said magic instead of spell well I'm from the original era of the game.

This is one of those cards that just gets better as time goes on. There are very few cards that i don't think will ever leave the ban list, i could even see pot of greed getting unbanned at some point, but magical scientist just became too powerful to stay legal, power creep is a benefit to this card. It's never leaving the forbidden list without an errata

Banning Pot Of Greed made no sense because it was a one time use to draw 2 cards when there is cards that have effects to draw a whole new hand that aren't banned yet. I understand Monster Reborn because you can summon any monster from both graveyards which is overpowering if you discard a monster that needs special requirements to summon it from your hand where Monster Reborn is a skip card.

It's cool that you've been playing since 2001, of course the only way that's possible is if you're from Japan and played when the game first released there, because the first global release wasn't until 2002. ​@@night-x6793 Pot of greed was looped with magician of faith or dark magician of chaos. When it was in rotation it was firing another time atleast. This is assumption we're talking post limiting. Card destruction is @ 1 because if you draw it with 5 cards you can functionally mulligan and the only decks it saw play in where deep draw decks. Mostly ftks and is considered a card where it should have stayed banned for being a card you only see when facing BS

@@stock_movie1875 No they don't, Ash Blossom does not destroy the scientist, so he just activates again, pays another 1k, Ghost Belle meanwhile does nothing because he doesn't touch the GY The FTK shown here isn't even that much set up, 1 special summon to pay for Turtle, and 1 fetch + special to get Scientist on the board(Last Will bonkers), these days you'd be able to complicate it in order to ensure it Scientist is a Lv1 so you just One For One your way there, and Turtle and its ilk, if they were unbanned, can be hunted in a variety of ways depending on which one you go with Scientist absolutely can't be unbanned these days, there's tons of insanely good targets to pull using him, many of which can then generate value themselves since they do not have their effects negated

And this is why magical scientist, and cannon soldier are banned from competitive tournaments

Cannon Soldier isn't banned anymore, but getting 16 pieces of tribute fodder to ftk isn't the easiest thing to do (since you use monsters to keep comboing and bring out other monsters as well) Plus effect veiler or imperm shuts it down.

What about ra/catapult turtle combo Summon ra,use his effect to boost his atk then sac ra for catapult turtles effect for massive damage combine it with life gain for big numbers

Magical scientist just gets more and more broken as the game evolves. Super broken for synchros, XYZ, and even worse link monsters

We shpuld bring this back in master duel, with ash i feel like this wouldnt be as toxic as it was back then and i can throw 3,4 and 5k fusions now lol

Me mentally going through all the fusion monsters back in my day that could be summoned with this effect and realize that you pay more life points then you do damage with this method because the fusions monsters did not have enough attack to make it viable.

You needed fusion monsters at 2100 attack exactly as then you did 7350 off that then tribute scientist for 150 then turtle itself for the final 500. It was very specific in its needed materials

@@GG_Nowa exactly, most fusion monsters came in with a dopey attack of 1750 like musician king and I think Great Man Eater was the only monster that fulfilled the requirements of high enough attack with 2100.

I remember the catapult turtle ftk deck. I pretty much quit for awhile until that was dealt with. I hate the idea of FTK decks. Like takes the fun out of the game. Now that’s all it is.

Should've used the pre-errata pic of turtle for this one doc. It's already hard enough for the yugiboomers to think that "their" yugioh was fair back in their days, you don't wanna confuse them with this version of turtle.

God i am old.. this game was invented over 10 years after i graduated high school, and its 20 years or more old now...😅

I had this deck. It was just too broken, you could pull off the setup about 80% of the time on first turn.

I played the casual scene when it first came out so it was just a fun card that the try-hards broke

Glad I never ran into this combo back in the day

Old yugioh also had kashtira in the form of ground collapse and ojama king through metamorphosis.

Ready fusion does exactly this. No need to change it to an existing card. HOPT with negate the summoned name would do it without copying other cards

They did unban it to just end up putting it back on. It wasn't Snatch Steal level of getting rebanned, but it was still good.

Not only that, but they banned Last Will and errataed catapult turtle’s effect so that it’s a hard once per turn. Konami effectively made sure this combo was impossible to play ever again.

Nope. Instant Fusion already is hard once per turn, and has more restrictions on the monsters, and prevents any attacking from them instead of direct attacking. And it's a Limited. Magical Scientist is that, but better. On top of that, Scientist has a ton of ways he can be searched out and/or sent back to hand. No way would he be safe.

I still think our true foe is Catapult Turtle. We have a real threat on our hands. . . . . . Plus I'm gonna put him in my deck

This card would have to be heavily nerfed to come off the banlist. Nerfed so much it wouldn't see play. I'm usually on the side of erratas because I want cards in Yu-Gi-Oh to be playable. But I can't see how they can nerf Magical Scientist without fundamentally changing how the card functions.

uuuhhh turtles effect specifies you are only allowed once per turn to tribute one monster, meaning even if you abuse scientist effect, you can only choose one to sacrfifice, and at the end of the turn, all those other monsters would be returned to their extra deck, so how can this one shot your opponent?

There's so many outs to negates though compared to an ftk. In heavy negate formats you would side 9-12 board breakers that would punish mass extention. Most ftks existed before hand traps and negates so you had no out. Then ones that existed after droll,veiler,maxx c,ghost ogre and ash had ways around them in not having to exclusively ftk

Bro that's the current version turtle originally was not a once per turn u could use his ability as much as u want as long as u had a monster to sacrifice wich with the scientists was a entire extra deck of high attack beaters to just burn your opponents entire lp if they were in today's game Nothing can stop them unless even ash blossom as scientist again just uses another 1000 lp to use the ability especially now with how many obsurdly strong fusion monsters there are

It's a 33% to see any one card you play ag 3 in a 40 card deck if you draw 5. Pair that with graceful charity, pot of greed, card destruction and painful choice you're running a deck that is 11-15 cards smaller you're now on about a 50% chance per main name to see it.

Or you could use one for one😭😭

You weren't activating that because it stops battle damage and they went first meaning you didn't have anything to stop it. But going second they would side every possible backrow removal they could fire it without worrying about trap holes and stuff
