@@ahall9839 They didn't though, it's legal to fish that lake. The private property is near the lakeside, but the lake and surrounding park is open to the public. Edit: I'll amend my statement, it looks like this was actually a pond near the lake, not the lake itself. If it is not a man made pond, it may still apply under Tennessee's law that states that shoreline is not considered private property. I'm not invested enough to spend the time to read through foreign legal acts.

Lead exposure for people born before 1980 isn't the big deal you think it is. See, by the sixties, people had caught on, and, while it is true some kids will put anything in their mouths, most kids didn't eat paint, which was the most common means of getting lead. Unless you're putting paint flakes in your mouth, or sanding lead-based paint with no protection, the odds of exposure are minuscule. So this study--point to it, or admit you're full of shit. You're claiming this crap for no better reason than to put down your betters.

I did an Eagle Scout project where I repainted fire hydrants. At one apartment complex, a woman came and got pissed at me for doing it, and then called the fire Marshall to confirm I had permission to do it (I did, he gave me the map to know which ones to paint). People just want to be mad at something.

One of the streets fire hydrants is in front of our house. My brother was purposely annoying my dad. So he sent him out with a small metal brush and had him get all the loose paint off. Clean it with soapy water in a bucket he had to lug down and then dry it and paint it. Our street wasn’t populated much back then. The hydrant at the end of the street used to be used by the fire department to do something with their trucks. They would hook up and spray into the retention pond late at night.

This reminds me of when i was a kid, Old Mr Lee hated us kids playing in the public park area behind his house. My friends and I set up an awesome rope swing in a tall tree that was used by everyone. It was an absolute winner with every kid and their parents. Mr Lee hated it and hated us. He got his son to climb that tall tree and cut the branch down. The tree was not allowed to be damaged as it was a protected area. They didn't care.

Yeah, I did play outside a lot as a kid to the point I'd only come home to eat and sleep. There were quite a few adults however who always for some reason felt like the owned certain things that weren't even on their property and were instead on public property. One lady for example thought she owned the entire cement bike path in a field which literally continued for 20 blocks alongside transmission towers. Unless she literally owned those transmission towers, I doubt she owned any of that massive field which also had government trucks that would drive down the bike path in order to do occasional repairs on the transmission towers. It was clearly not her property and was government property made specifically for having those transmission towers along with the bike path so they could drive down it to make the occasional repairs, and yet she insisted that kids shouldn't be playing there because she owned all of it.

We even made sure to read and follow all the rules of the play area despite nobody else being there and we were escorted out and banned from the mall for "disrespecting the property." I used to do the flower beds in the park. There are better ways to deal with it than arrest for a 6yo, but don't forget you are breaking the gardeners heart if you mash up plants and others also want to enjoy them, so some harm is being done. People are stupid....the experience you had is more likely to lead to vandalism (by the parents?). You have to appeal to peoples better nature and a little damage is fine but I'm glad I don't work at the park anymore, there's no money for anything but grass now ( also fairly unvandalisable!)

We have a pond at the very edge of our property that some local teens like to hang out by. I've talked to them like a normal person and all I ask is that they don't leave any garbage and that they don't swim in the pond because when it dried up two years ago, there was a TON of metal and other stuff poking out of the mud at the bottom and I don't want anyone to maul themselves if they go in the water. So far no problems - amazing what happens when you approach kids with respect and make reasonable asks.

Which is why he's flailing his arms, getting in their faces, and acting all big and bad in an attempt to scare them off BEFORE the police arrive. There's a large amount of people that look for any excuse to use a gun to shoot people. They want to kill someone but they don't outright say it. Some cops, gang members and just people with a bit of a manhood issue are all up there. I'm not even against owning guns but they shouldn't be owned by everyone. There's a lot of shootings over complete misunderstandings that should have never even gotten a gun drawn, let alone fired. They can be good for hunting and sport and there are definitely situations like people actively breaking down your door, car door etc that can warrant a gun. I almost got shot myself from an old redneck tweaker that thought I was "scoping" out his tweaker house to rob. I was actually walking on the street while very drunk at night and walking home. I stopped when he was backing as there's a 0% chance he saw me while reversing. He did when he pulled out fully and that's when he initiated the confrontation looking for every excuse to shoot me. Dude even pulled that I was faking being drunk. Even when I walked away after he was still threatening me, he proceeded to follow me home at about 5 mph with his high beams on. He called the cops and they just told me to go to bed as I was clearly extremely drunk. I couldn't press charges for being followed home after being threatened as I was "too drunk" at the time.

@@GrievousReborn it is assault. He put the kid in reasonable fear of being harmed... until he grabbed and broke his fishing rod. So not only is it destruction of personal property, it is now battery as well. That old man racked up at least three criminal charges in a matter of minutes

It’s not assault he broke the fishing rod. He didn’t touch them. It would be destruction of property.

People, especially people of that age nowadays are deliberately looking for drama if not violence. Hope the old dude gets punished accordingly. And their HOA gets investigated. If he's this unhinged, I suspect he's probably a typical HOA crook

Sadly, HOA's are usually not regulated by anyone or anything. John Oliver did a piece about them years ago but it mostly boiled down to them being little fiedoms that are damn near above the law. I would never want to live in one, because they're unforgiving of being human. Like a grandmother who lived in a home with an HOA that didn't allow children. Her teenaged grandson needed to come live with her as either his parents had died or were unable to care for him anymore. They threatened to kick the woman out of the neighborhood (yes, she would've had to sell her home!) just because her grandson lived with her. Shit can happen outside of anyone's control. Now this child that's already been upended has to either be put with different family, if he has any, or have the guilt on his shoulders of being the reason his grandmother lost her home. Absolutely heartless.

I honest to god wish HOAs get banned. Made illegal. They cause problems more than solve them.

most people like this are the exact same type that fantasize scenarios where they get to pull out their guns and murder someone over a minor slight against them.
