    Man the way you tell the stories is crazy. I remember probably 80% of every video. Some bits and pieces get lost in the fray, but you honestly make these people known. They aren't just victims in your stories, but real people that went through horrible things. Thank you! But that poor like button..

If something like this happens, there are way more bad intentions involved. As a person who lives with PTSD, I would like to thank you. It's confusing to some people as to why I sleep with your stories playing.... and it's kind of hard for me to explain, but your voice is comforting, and as creepy as your stories are; they aren't my memories. One of my most disruptive symptoms is intrusive memories of the trauma at bedtime and you drown it out. The stories are engaging enough to distract my mind and your voice is soothing enough that I can sleep to it. I am quite sure that I am not the only person who uses your stories for this purpose, and I just want to say thank you. It's really very difficult for me to find material that actually works for me sleep wise (it seems to be exclusively creepy/true crime in story format with Male narrators). Thank you for uploading so prolifically. Sleep is essential for being able to manage my other PTSD symptoms, and it's the difference between being able to manage productively and everything going sideways. If I stop getting enough sleep, things get weird.

    Same here. I’m having trouble sleeping before due to some depressing matters. Glad I came upon MrBallen’s stories. I could sleep easy knowing that there’s a comforting voice telling me bed time stories (as my mom did when I was a child). Also, I sometimes have to wake up at odd hours for my job. Use the same method to sleep earlier than usual. Thanks MrBallen. Love all your stories. On a side note, my sympathies to the families that are affected by this crime. 😢

    I drove alone from Washington state to California and I had a creepy experience. I stayed at a motel in one of those small towns by the 5 fwy. For some crazy reason my motel key card kept malfunctioning. So I kept going back to the front desk. Finally, the guy in the front desk was asking me if he could come over to my room to “fix” the card. I declined politely and stayed in my room the rest of the night barricading it. It just felt wrong. Carole must have felt the creepiness when Cary Stayner knocked on her door with his lame “excuse.” It’s ok to test all things to see if they are true. It could save our lives.

    The Girlfriend with her daughters that wasn’t killed because of the handyman that started THAT DAY...reminds me of No Country for Old Men and the random luck that can lead to whether you live or die, and you may not even know anything ever about it. I "discovered" MrBallen about a month ago, and this story compelled me to comment. OMG, I just realized that Carey's brother Steven is Steven Stayner from that 80s TV movie, "I know my first name is Steven." There was an image of Merced in this story and that's what popped into my head. Then, MrBallen mentioned a brother, Steven, who was abducted for 7 years (by Parnell), and THAT'S when it hit me. I NEVER forgot about that movie and to know this connection literally made my heart jump. I can't believe it!!! Anyone else remember that movie? I'm literally shaking and almost sick to my stomach. MrBallen, you are quite the storyteller and now I do my best to watch my surroundings to ensure I don’t become one of your strange, dark and mysterious told in story format.😉

    I actually new Julie. We met the begining of the school year and was cheerleading together. We won second place for the eureka loggers and all stars championship. Last I saw her we just performed our Christmas cheer at the bay shore mall. Then my father pulled me aside months later to tell me she was missing. I remember every time the news came on I would run to the TV hoping for an update. Sadly the update was something no one wanted. To this day, I am so sad to think that Julie and Sylvinia never got to grow up and become mothers, wives careers. Carol never got to meet her grandchildren. Jules Armstrong never got to live as well. To this day every December I still think of last time I saw her, our last cheer, her last smile. I'm hopeful that they are at peace and happy. Lots of love julie

    This brings out a very dark side of me,.. The death penalty is far too humane, punishment should fit the crime,... personally, I think people like this should be housed in an open dorm prison where they are left to do whatever they want to each other without interference for a minimum of 5 years ,..THEN execute them by injection of acid into their veins that take hours upon hours to kill them. I spent 22 years in the service doing very bad things to very bad people, understand the horrific nature of violence that most can't comprehend. But this is pure evil,.. and the only people that can return that level of inhumanity is their fellow like-minded peers. Does thinking that make me a bad person, maybe,.. but it's honest as to how I feel they should be dealt with.

    Word of advice, if a “robber” ever wants to tie you up/blindfold you, fight them. Idc if its to the death. If they tie you up they most likely will take you somewhere else and that can only mean terrible things. This story is so sad

  • @rizengoku8050

    @rizengoku8050

    Good advice. If a gun is ever pointed at you, rush the robber. They won’t expect you to not comply and it will catch them off guard, ultimately giving you the upper hand. Though if you are woman, this might be easier said than done, but it is possible. Aim for the nose when you tackle them, this will cause them to be in a state of shock and then wail on them until they are either unconscious or dead.

    I think we all do believe that we would just rush them, even knowing we could easily die. But I think in the momemt you will have hope that this extreme risk is not necessary and the other peroson will not really harm you. Because if you rush someone with a gun (or a weapon), chances are you are dead or badly wounded befor you could do much. But I agree, if a robber wants to tie me up I would resist no matter what. At this point I would have to assume that I am dead either way. Beeing shot is hopefully faster.

And then maybe not as ill-conceived, but the other woman was willfully staying at an isolated cabin without any people or dogs and unarmed. I have enough of a moral conscience not to feel they deserved to die for their mistakes, don't get me wrong. It's sad and disturbing. @@justachick3114 it's easier to be a regular murderer than a serial killer nowadays so I doubt this. SK's are usually compulsive in one way or another. Since data is openly shared between states, it's not possible to commit the same kind of crime in different states without it being picked up by algorithms. Once it is, the profilers start looking at the cases. They're eerily good. One way a killer could escape this would be my varying the method of death. Now, that may seem simple but, that SERIOUSLY increases the chance something is botched on their end. It would be like performing a complex song in front of thousands of people but, you don't know the song until 5 minutes before the show. Sure, great performers can pull it off but can they do it perfectly every night? I don't think so

    You have a very special way of honoring the victims in the way you tell these horrific true crime stories. The ID network and 20/20 is so sanitized which I understand is for the facts and based on evidence whether they are awaiting trial or have been convicted but when you tell these stories I can actually remember the victims names and relate to the anguish, despair and fear not just of the victims but their family and friends. My Uncle was murdered in 1986 hitchhiking his way back to the East Coast to visit my mother and meet my little brother who had just been born. The muderer was never found. No justice, no closure. My mother and I are the only members of the family left that remember him and not a day goes by without thoughts of him. Thank you. P.S. On a lighter note I enjoyed the reference to The Office in the beginning.
