I originally got into the game because the game itself feels like a Yugioh episode. Depending on your deck and digivolutions, the combos in this game get absolutely bonkers in a good way. (Except maybe not when you're on the receiving end 😆)

I can't stop geeking about Liberator lol. I'm a tcg person and I love how their Digivice is the deck box itself. I've played and collected MTG, Digimon tcg etc. for as long as I can remember and never would I have thought of using the deck box itself as a digivice.

These guys created a story about an online Digimon TCG game instead making the game itself.

This is a cool pitch and concept which similar with Tamers, but most digi-fans want anime series more, hope this could lead to a anime adaption or new series in the future.

@@null-Oh-6666 Yeah but Ghost game is all original work. Tamers Twice would be Like Tri a sequel of established characters and setting.

I love the idea of Liberators doing two story arcs, one(Shota’s story) for new players to get the tutorial for the card game, and the second(Yuki’s story) for advance/veterans players to see card game played by pro players.

I'm glad it's a manga because I think a more visual format such as that will allow the storytelling to really flourish if Liberator stays consistent with its quality

I guess a bit of a fun fact but apparently Impmon was supposedly what was planned to be Takado's Digimon partner in Tamers before it was changed for him to have a Digimon like Agumon. In a way the Growlmon to Megidramon version evolutions for Impmon pays a homage to that original plan where Impmon gets a more linear evolution and does not become a Great Demon Lord. Funny enough though I still like the idea that Takado in Tamers straight up created Guilmon using his notebook to design what is basically a virus Digimon with Agumon's data. Basically a change for Takado to have an Agumon like partner instead lead to the creative decision that defined Takado's personality having created his own Digimon that was later brought to life by a Digivice.

I hope someday there will be a tenth Digimon anime series after the Digimon Ghost Game Anime. It would be great if we got another Digimon Anime.

I've been a fan of Digimon since the beginning, Yu-Gi-Oh! since 2006 with Pyramid of Light on Sky Movies, I learned how to play Duel Monsters from watching GX myself and I didn't learn that Digimon had even gotten a new Card Game until I saw one guy's playmat with MetalMamemon and MetalGreymon from the opening of Digimon World and then it dawned on me what they were playing and I've been playing since! While I will admit I did drift away briefly, the announcedment of Digimon Survive was what brought me back and I caught up with Digimon Lore during lockdown and discovered your and Karn's channels and then learned about Last Evolution Kizuna!

I’m keeping a close on this one hoping that it’s success will lead to an anime series

This is the first I'm hearing of Liberator, now I have to go check it out! Thanks!

My fav part of webcomic liberator is the highly funky UI and visuals on digivolve, name tag when they appear, and option card refrencing digimon's move is very stylized I hope this quality can be consistent throughout the series I played the tcg, and had some non digimon fans play this game and learning digimon through the TCG Hope this series took off and bringing new wave of fans

Honestly, with the Digimon Anime being prisoner of Toei... New Manga and Novels is EXACTLY what I want to see. The chances of an ANime being good are pretty low, but with Manga and Novels they can go NUTS.

The concept is really intresting, definetly going to start reading both.

I'm already excited about the manga for Liberator. The story seems fun and the characters do as well. And of course, the fact that they aren't just kids. And while I didn't consider it at first, you're right! Being a card game lets them just toss whatever digimon they like into the story no matter the level, which is such a cool thing! I am looking forward to the novel too. Really hoping it can live up to it's premise, and that the manga keeps up it's current charm.

It'd be interesting if Liberators somehow crosses over with the world of Tamers and have Takato, Henry and Rika adapt to this new card game and use it somehow with their digivices

When they announced it I thought it would be more like tamers using cards but a style like yugioh is welcome, and I think it's a little strange that the protagonist is already an adult (18 years old) and don't have googles, but it's no problem for the work, I read both chapters and I'm excited for more

I'm enjoying it so far, though I'd still like to get more for a sample of the bigger picture and to hook me in.

Honestly I want them to release a digimon tcg app it would be about as popular as yugioh

I've been reading each story, and it's been good! Been a Digimon fan since the original series aired in the US, and I've been playing the card game (when I can). Liberator seems like it should be a good addition to the franchise.

I have a few more of the older Digimon series to watch, but I've been making my way through the series. This new one definitely sounds interesting, though I'm usually less critical of shows than others, so I'll likely enjoy it so long as I enjoy the art and it has a story with depth to it.

I think they could work on making the way the card game portion easier to follow. In the newest chapter I found it a bit hard to keep track of what was going on in the beginning. The AI losing two security happens in a single frame and is barely touched on. Also, since they only show the cards when they need to, there's going to be a growing problem with having multiple cards with the same name but different abilities.

Is it fine to read Liberators before reading Seekers? I'm worried the disparity in quality will make Seekers unenjoyable to me.

Just seing someone with an impmon partner in the novel as a main character is enough to grab my attention. Kinda wish that perspective is the one that gets animated

the new impmon line feels greatly inspired by megidramon, guilmon evil mega form, wich is a fun detail, and "easter egg" because of the result of the beelzemon/megidramon fight on the 3rd anime

Liberator is definitely an interesting story, and they learned from Seekers by making it much more accessible. Also if you are interested in getting into the TCG, but don't want to mess with physical cards right now, there is an official Tutorial App and a recent fan made Sim.

I’m not a big Digimon fan, but I have been into Japanese TCG media for almost a decade now, and I am almost positive that the names of the main characters are a reference to the main characters of YUGIOH (YUGI->YUKI) and DUEL MASTERS (SHOBU->SHOTA). The “Yu” comes from the Japanese word for “Games” while “Sho” comes from the Japanese word for “Win/Victory.”

Digimon Digital Card Battle on the Ps1 was a great game too. Bandai should make another one with multiplayer

I'm enjoying liberator. I love the new Digimon designs. I'm really looking forward to the web novel. I like impmon and I'm excited for the new evolutions.

Digimon Liberators is off to such a great start. My only nitpicks/concerns aren't even really against Liberators, just the way the TCG is going to translate into comic format. Tamer cards haven't been shown, but if they do are they going to act like continuous spells/traps in Yugioh and just be cards with the characters or will they be holograms of the characters? Insert pointing spiderman meme with Shoto and his tamer cards. The imagery of a Shinegreymon player with an army of Marcus Damons on their field sounds like it would also make for a great bit. The other thing is that because of the mechanics of the game, it sorta takes the meaning and impact away from evolution in the story. I get that a lot of people don't like ass-pulls and miracles because they can feel cheap, but I honestly feel like a "Heart of the Cards" style approach to digivolution lines of the main partners would've been acceptable. These are minor things to take note of but in no way takes away from the experience of the story. The TCG being translated into another medium is really cool, and I can't wait to see where it goes and how it will tackle other aspects of the game.

It looks good,but I wish there was a online version. For those of us that don't have anyone to play against locally.

Yugioh was always more complicated irl tcg, simply due to all the complex conditional text at the bottom of alot of cards. It was the yugioh video games like those on the Nintendo DS that automated it or at least highlighted cards m stuff you "could" use or moves you could do, that made it easier to follow and allowed me to actually enjoy playing it. Tbh, yugioh duel links is the current medium of yugioh I can follow and enjoy. All ots missing is attack animations like pokemon for every monster. I actually want a mixed reality version on meta quest in the future haha. I'd love a mixed reality Digimon game as well.

A small correction: hosting on Webtoons was likely not planned from the start, and more of a bandaid solution. On day one the comic was only hosted on the official site, and as a result it was unreadable because of the unreasonable loading times It honestly really soured me on the infinite scroll. There are some sequences where it really works (I liked the log-in sequence) but there are several instances that makes me feel like the endless scroll is only used because it's become the "industry standard" for webcomics. The explosion diorama in chapter 1 is really yarring when it's flipped 90 degrees, and would have worked a lot better as a two-page spread. Dialogue is also split up in a way that doesn't really lend itself to the endless scroll, you can split one sentence over multiple speech bubbles on a page, but when you have to scroll through a new reaction shot every other word the sentences feel disjointed and awkward.

I don't know if I would call a theory a "correction" -- I have no reason to believe putting it on Webtoons and GlobalComix was a last minute Bandaid decision. Plus, given the size of these Japanese companies and how many checks and reviews any little decision takes, there is no way these decisions weren't made months in advance.

Digimon has a fucking great potential and lore, it just needs to be handled by correct people. Like imagine if Persona team worked on Digimon game, they already share tons of similarities in terms of mature lore, characters and themes.
