Usually we’re looking into pond water or whatever other fascinating bit of nature that James, our master of microscopes, usually looks at. But right now, our sights are coming to us directly from the kitchen and from a different master of microscopes.
Special thanks to Chloé Savard for allowing us to use her footage:

Can we please have a Sci Show (maybe Tangents) on why you guys call a Kiwifruit a "Kiwi"? As someone who considers himself a Kiwi and of very close kin to the Kiwi to which you guys call "Kiwibird", I find odd you choose not to add fruit to Kiwifruit but to add fruit to Dragonfruit. 😊

This is some really cool footage! I'm missing the scale that's usually included with the footage on this channel though, do you remember what it was for any of these?
These images are so beautiful! Thanks so much to Chloé for taking them!

I don't do insta so I'd have never seen these beautiful images. Striking!
A pause at 58 seconds made me inspired to paint. I love abstract and sometimes things give a confident feeling of there is no wrong in art. That picture I paused on would make a great painting with the contrasting black rings and the title of “potato” would seem weird but not wrong lol.
So happy to see you collaborating with Chloé/Tardibabe! Love her work and this video is amazing!
Chloe is amazing! Incredible microscope - A true master of microscopes!
I was already following Tardibabe!!! So happy that y'all gave her the platform for more people to find her!

Pineapple. The food that eats you while you eat it. That mouth burn after eating too much… enzymes.

Eat pineapple to establish food chain dominance.
Some of these could work as all-over prints for fashion.
The coolest thing I e ever seen under a microscope is actually stem of Zea, it’s crazy looking even under white light! Just like the polarised potato but in long zip-like strands and fibres with many different cell types and super colourful
These videos make me so emotional. Amazing job to everyone involved, loved Chloe's videos!
A solid crop of some of these images would make excellent wall art! So wonderful. Thanks for a peek inside.
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen under a microscope! ❤ Now I'm curious to know what things like honey look like under a microscope.
"Stain glass windows in a sailor moon fever dream." What a great line.
So pretty! Did you know you can get purple potatoes too? They taste similar to the white ones, but make beautiful coloured foods like mash or fries!
ahh what a fun episode! i love it!!
What Zoom Level was used for the Dragon Fruit? MAGICAL 💜

The dragonfruit looking like animation cells from a cartoon was wild.
Some of these would make great '80s fabric prints. Pretty sure I hade a pineapple t-shirt way back when.
From the macro to the micro there is beauty all around us, in fact it is us in due time.
Allium cepa was the first thing we looked under the microscope. Apium graveolens is my favorite tho. Thanks for showing a dragon fruit. They looked like confetti. 😊
Love the fruit & veg! So beautiful! While I miss Hank's voice, I really enjoyed the voice-over. I didn't catch their name, sorry

@@udoberend5178 I disagree I enjoy Hank's voice I also enjoy Deboki's. While I do have preferences, like everyone else, I try not to talk about people like they are objects. I especially try not to make public negative comments about characteristics that are largely out of our control. Not only is it rude but it can contribute to the anxiety & self doubt for another person in their workplace. People create our content. Real, human people
We need posters of these specimens... the colors are amazing!
Gorgeous! She ought to sell some stills as socks, fabrics, or art prints.
The dragonfruit looks like a 90's folder cover.
I also love looking at wood fibers! They tend to be beautiful
Nature is so beautiful!
Lovely images, and fantastic microscopy! I hope James is having a much needed rest.
Those images were awesome I loved the crystals the color really made* everything pop
This is a great video! There's not a lot of open information about the inside of fruits and vegetables. It's hard to understand what nutrients are and where they are within, and how they are transported. Really cool natural formations!! ❤
Some really great looking images! It looked like art! I might've missed it but does anyone know what magnification this was under?
Fantastic episode, great guest!
Makes me want a dole whip rn
Beautiful!! Thank you for keeping this channel going.
“Sailor Moon fever dream” Nailed it!
Such beauty, if we know where and how to look for it our tools of science can also bring us art!
NEW MASTER OF MICROSCOPES? HELL YEAH!
Beautiful stuff. Reminds me of one of my favorite books from way back in my Jr. High library. Micro-art;: Art images in a hidden world by Lewis R. Wolberg
Fantastic script and visuals, as always!
Everything is so beautiful! I need all of them as wallpapers.
Thank you for showcasing some of Chloe Savard's work. These are beautiful and equally as fascinating as the pond water critters. ♥♥
The Dragon fruit crystals look like the glitches from Spiderman: into the spider-verse😮
you could just channel a micro view live and we would just watch it who needs reality tv when you can have reality on tv

I absolutely love this stuff!! 😁
Fantastic!
I want these pictures as phone wallpapers they are so beautifull
thank you - wonderful to greet a new mind!

Okay, ive been watching for forever and for the first time i have a question! Why were there no microbial life? Like do fruits do such a good job at stopping disease that they are.... sterile?
I see finishes for electric guitars. Very cool ones.
Yess Chloé!!!!!!!!
are these colors produced from any sort of dye? I see educational material reguarding microorganisms and stuff use dye to be able to distinguish certain aspects like the nucleus or cell walls, and I'm questioning this knowing how monochrome microscopic image tends to be
So cool🤓
Dragon fruit is such a sensory overload. It's so gotdamn amazing honestly. What is this, serotonin? Seratonin & dopamine ?
I'm in shock!
I'm not sure how but I kind of just inherently knew that I was looking at starch before you even said it

This is a lot different watching with polarized sunglasses on
This was much more interesting than ant man 3
I guess they're no colour-blinds in this field!
браво!
I'd love to see the magnification to get an idea how big everything is.
It looks like it tastes
I can't get polarized to look anywhere near this good on my setup
3:16 Hot Chip have released a new album?
This explains the Irish so much.
This is amazing! How could we eat those marvelous things?! Starting today, I will only eat meat!
Best video, blue ribbon
❤
Potatoes a great food ? According to a study made by the NIH, “cerebrovascular (26%) and cancer (52%) mortality risk was greater in individuals with higher potato consumption than those with the lowest intake.” Conclusion of the study : “No significant effects of potato intake on long term mortality rates, whereas higher potato consumption was adversely related to cardiometabolic risk factor.” Eat your potatoes wisely folks, this ain’t a great food actually, test everything, never take anything you hear for granted. Aside from that, great video as usual on this channel, a feast for the eyes
I knew I hated kiwi and pineapple for a reason. Damn things have microscopic needles in them!
You should have a look a medical cannabis in the plant and the flowers they are incredible
What about rock slides???
how do we rent your microscope
🎉
Pineapple's the only fruit that eats you back (bromelain).

Not the only one
Can we feed the potato to the tardigrades
So the cells on the slide are not alive? Or they are older pieces of fruit already decaying? Surely some of the potato cells were still alive?
