Still wondering if/how they could've included Hades's wife Persephone (Queen of the Underworld by marriage and Goddess of Spring by birth) in this - I mean it's spring and summer during most of the movie so she'll be with her mother so they have a reason for not showing her (for those who don't know, some say Persephone married Hades willingly, I get the feeling in this story it would be one of the tellings of the story where she was not willing, but in any case she ate food from the underworld so she's bound there but her mother Demeter the goddess of the harvest gets so miserable whenever she's gone that she stops the everything from growing meaning not only flowers but crops, so to prevent humanity from starving they worked out a compromise that Persephone spends one month of a year with Hades for every pomegranate seed she ate (meaning autumn and winter) and the rest of the year (spring and summer) she spends with her mother, it's how the greeks and romans explained the different seasons). I just keep seeing this interaction with James Woods's voice: Persephone - returns to the underworld Hades: "Persie! Honey! Sweetheart! Babyface, I can't tell ya how glad I am to see ya? What no smooch, come on baby, I'm your husband, got a nice dinner planned and everything!" Persephone looks around the main room of the underworld, sniffs, sighs and says: "Ok, who is she? You've had a mortal in here - a live one. Don't try to kid me, I know life when I sense it. Who is she, what's she doing here, which mistakes did you cash on this time?" Hades: "What? oh Meg? Oh baby baby baby you got it all wrong! Honeypie, you know you're the only one for me? Right?"

if you're interested, back in the 30s before they did 'Snow White' Disney did a ten minute short based on that story called: 'The Goddess of Spring' They were still experimenting with animating actual people moving so the goddess's dancing looks a bit.....off let's just say. In other videos of this short where they don't cut off the top we can see her toes in the flower dancing bit and it was a surprisingly good drawing of toes (I think they're kind of hard to draw). I think the Hades character here - which makes him even more like the Devil than this story does though originally Hades was nothing like the Devil - is supposed to be called 'Pluto' which was the name the Romans gave Hades (Hades was one of the names of the underworld as well as its ruler) and also brings up his 'god of wealth' title (not sure if that was just something the Romans gave him or Hades was always a god of wealth but either way it makes sense in a way - they figured that since the dead go underground and since gold, silver and most valuable stones come from under the ground then that must mean that Hades/Pluto must rule over everything as well as everyone from underground), here's the video if you're interested: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jHx2082AqtHPqaQ.html

It's quite interesting that in Greek history, even though everyone said that Hades was the nicest of the gods, they avoided talking about him, as not to provoke his attention. However, once they started calling him Pluto, the praises were immense. I love how Hades just has the turning-mortal serum on standby. XD Oh! Either Eris or Oizys could've been cool villains if they weren't adapting the 12 labors myth [they could've had Zeus marry Hera after having Heracles to keep it toned down and they could've adapted the gigantomachy at the end instead creating nonexistent titans and having Hades lead them
2:20 I believe his name, is where we get the word "nacissism." (wikipedia) In Greek mythology Narcissus was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty. According to Tzetzes, he rejected all romantic advances, eventually falling in love with his own reflection in a pool of water, staring at it for the remainder of his life.
24:46 Honestly, Phil should have known that Herc wouldn't believe him. First, Phil doesn't have any real evidence to support his claim. And second, Phil has been antagonistic towards Meg almost since the very start anyway. So from Herc's perspective, Phil is just being a dick about Meg as usual, and baselessly accusing Meg for no other reason than to spite her. Let's not forget that the whole reason Phil doesn't like Meg is because she rejected his creepy-ass advances.
Hades is actually pretty helpful in the myth and Hera is the villain of the myth

Cerberus, in Greek mythology, the monstrous watchdog of the underworld. He was usually said to have three heads, though the poet Hesiod (flourished 7th century BCE) said he had 50. Heads of snakes grew from his back, and he had a serpent’s tail. He devoured anyone who tried to escape the kingdom of Hades, the lord of the underworld, and he refused entrance to living humans, though the mythic hero Orpheus gained passage by charming him with music. One of the labours of the warrior Heracles was to bring Cerberus up to the land of the living; after succeeding, he returned the creature to Hades.

Hercules is too good for them.
What a fun watch and great reaction! I used to practice Meg's song all the time as a kid. 😂
Fun fact: the "fates" in this are actually the grey sisters and they also share one tooth

LMAOOOOO😭😭😭
12:00 Lol, Disney loves a good hoarder character. Funnily enough, as far as the ancient Greek pantheon of gods goes, Hercules and Ariel are actually cousins-once-removed. Hades and Zeus' third brother is Poseidon; God of the seas, storms, and earthquakes. One of Poseidon's kids was Triton; who was designated as god of the deep-sea. So yeah, Hercules' dad and Ariel's grandfather are brothers. Revisiting this with you, was fun! thanks!

It’s just a theory a Film theory :)
21:23 girl you was ready for Zeus to put his hands on you and receive that Holy Ghost. You understand how they feel
Meg was literally my gay awakening 💀💀💀
I just realized that this specific interpretation of hercules is basically Superman
10:24 Rukiya no ma’am 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
Meg is like the queen she slays so much for her bossiness like that girl is so cute and slays a lot!❤❤❤❤❤ Edit: this movie is so hilarious I was dying so hard 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m the same way with singing along when I put on Pocahontas. My #1 fave movie
Fun facts: - Before James Woods got casted as Hades, Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton and John Lithgow aka Lord Farquaad from Shrek were all considered to play Hades. - John Goodman was considered to play Zeus before Rip Torn got casted as Zeus. - There’s a theory that Hercules and Ariel from The Little Mermaid are cousins. - This is a personal one; The Hydra scene scared the living hell outta me as a kid, especially when it grows multiple heads. Edit: Another interesting fact about Hercules is that it was originally gonna have a sequel but it got canceled.
I love Hades and Meg so much😭
2:53 that ain't right 😂😂😂

Not Rukiya wanting to become Hercules' Step-Mom!🤣😂 I accept your petition. You ate that up with the lyrics. And Meg is an icon.

I have never seen this movie, in its entirety, in ENGLISH. I watched it in my French class. French audio. English subtitles.

Right?!! Like how did all of them get captured in seconds 🤦🏾♀️
Hercules is a very sharp contrast to Disney’s previous film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We go from a story that’s very dark and mature for a Disney film to a story that looks and feels like you’re watching a Saturday morning cartoon like Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry and I love it

Ironic that you said that because Hercules would later get a animated series set during his teen years.

Hercules is definitely tone inconsistent, just like Hunchback of Notre Dame. Both of these movies are hilarious, in Hercules especially Meg and Hades are amazing. But the tone inconsistency kinda irks me, it's a super hero, Rocky, sports athlete's of the 90s taking advertisments movie about finding your place where you belong and trying to teach the humble guy to be humble and sacrifice himself. And the movie is kinda goofy and extremely serious at the same time. Same with hunchback of Notre Dame, sometimes it gets extremely dark and frightening, and then they have the stupid gargoyles just saying silly stuff or having the goofy scream sound effect in the most intense scene in the movie, where the gargoyles fight the soldiers at the burning Notre Dame.
