This movie is Awful, but the score is Wonderful

In this video we analyze a short clip of music from the film The Land Before Time. The song title is "The Great Migration" and it was composed by James Horner. Source: Geffen*. This educational analysis creates key concepts to help composers write better music.
The score is transcribed by ear. I use Dorico and Cubase for my sheet music and production.

What?? The movie is great. I understand subjective is subjective, but I have never come across an opinion like that. Barely anyone thinks it's an awful movie.

That's interesting to hear. Maybe I'm an outlier.

In my memories the movie is great, but that memory is at least fifteen years old.

I saw it when it came out in 88 and thought it was great. I don't question the taste of seven year old me.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I think the English VA's just didn't give it the chance it needed. I am German and when I was little it was something me and my mother would watch every time on TV. The German dubbing industry is big and I think that is why I liked it BCS the VA's were doing a dang good job. But listening to some scenes in English I think both are just fine.

@@FeralDayASMR I might have to go listen to the German voice acting. Very interesting.🧐

Did you watch this movie when you were a kid or as an adult?

Good question. Just as a kid. I couldn't make myself watch it again, but it's possible I'd change my mind If I did. 🤷‍♂
