This modification makes the Suzuki Jimny better in every way
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Suzuki Jimny is a one-trick pony, to put it bluntly. It's an excellent off-road machine, but as we have reported in many of our reviews, it's not the best vehicle to live with or drive on a freeway. So what can you do to improve this?
A company in JHB has introduced a fairly easy modification for this 5-door Jimny (it will also work on the 3-door) that gives it more power while maintaining its bulletproof reliability. The owner then went about improving the suspension and upgrading a few choice parts so it looks slick and is also ready to head into the unknown.
Let us know what you think of this Jimny mod and if you think it's a worthwhile upgrade or not.

Incredible work. Now makes me want to have it again, like when it first came in with the second 3 door offering. 5 doors on a Jimny now will make even better sense.

Lekker rig and it will kill off-road. The suspension and turbo is surely to address the issues I think this vehicle has. But man! A new Jimny and 100K in extras puts you real close to, if not next to some 4x4 bakkies which offer more space inside, more utility, and probably still a better on-road driving experience. Each to their own. Still a nice a build.
wow this is nice love how the BOT is done too

Read the comments…someone says R85k is what they told him when he called them… the problem with quoting prices on a website is often the exchange rate and shipping prices…they change so often….and they have to get updated and people expect a price they screenshotted 6 moths ago….frustrates me too, but an old school phone call usually gets a price…..

Very cool build, I love the turbo idea for it. I just can't justify the price for such a small 4x4, there are so many other options out there for that price second hand.. I get it though, it's a cool car and I would have one. Though, nimble, reliable and really capable off road.
fantastic

Great video, but when you can easily fit a throttle controller how much difference does it turbo make you feel while. Acceleration or overtaking?

Looks awesome!! How does the everything around the engine handle the around 75% power upgrade ?
@RoamingHorizons-ZA
17 күн бұрын
Engine handles it beautifully! Before the conversion you had the engine screaming in high RPM for in a lower gear for extra power, now the RPM is lower with more power without gearing down.
I’m not a fan of the 5-door but this one looks good, and I find 8:29 the turbo an interesting idea.
how much does that turbo kit cost? Most beautiful Jimny build I've seen so far, well done!
Suzuki needs to put the 1.4 boosterjet in this. Heck even the 1l boosterjet would do...
Turbo upgrade coming to Australia?
Why did you guys not include the owner's Instagram page or other socials in the description? That's not very nice hey...
How does this affect the manual gearbox? Is the Jimny still trackable or does it feel like you need more gears?
What is the price of that turbo kit? And do you ship to Chile?
That's what it always needed, more power! But I'm concerned about strength of components due to the additional strain. Do suzukis come with strong enough con rods, gearboxes to handle the extra power? I do hope so, I hope they have already been doing in in japan without any issues
How can I upgrade a Jimny like that when Im in the Philippines? Can you ship those upgrades here? :)

Now 250nm torque, how did that affect towing capacity (along with upgraded suspension)? and tow ball specification? Normal Jimny tows 1300 kg with brakes (my model) what will this modified Jimny Tow, because I can get a good trailer around 1500 kg to 1700 kg and long Jimny also heavier./
It would be great to know the cost of the build
Life hack: buy a Grand Vitara (a handsome car in most aspects), give Jamie a call to turbocharge it, and go off to live your best life. It'd be interesting to know how the turbo conversion affects fuel economy.
@RoamingHorizons-ZA
17 күн бұрын
The fuel consumption depends on your drive style. At the moment I get 9.9km/L. If you drive like Jamie, it will be less!🤣
I drove the 3 door and on the highway (mostly empty) and above 90km/h it was very wobbly from side-to-side, I felt it could do with a rear sway-bar. Has that been your experience, is the 5 door standard any better, any after market sway-bar that can ve disconected when off-road?
@RoamingHorizons-ZA

The standard suspension on the 3-door is super soft and why most people upgrade on this. The 5-door standard suspension is definitely better and it drives better due to the longer wheel base.

The build quality of the Japan built Jimnys is not that good, l have never seen a modern vehicle rust so quickly and extensively but that could be due to the English weather, but also the paint finish is very poor especially on the underside and in the engine bay.

A tad expensive for what's on offer in basic form for the auto (best for off road) and then you cough more for additions and upgrades to make it a reasonable drive. Good innovation with the turbo, hopefully owners/buyers take the bait. Has the fuel consumption improved with the turbo?

Made for shorter people. Well at least the 3 door was let's hope this has enough space
Drive the turbo then drive a supercharged one. You will rip the turbo off the engine that day and swap it for a supercharger
A full metal bumper (winch and spotties compatible) would be better instead of an iron bar. With today's technology there are bull bars which are strong and light at the same time.
