Heartwarming to see Bhutan here. I love this future influenced by Bhutan and I am grateful that they preserved their culture almost intact through the centuries.

Don't be fooled, Bhutan is a fascist nation, it has 3000 politcal prisoners, 120.000 people had to flee the country in 1990 because they where of Nepali decent and were not allowed to live their culture. All Bhutanese people had to adapt to the Ngalong ( minority) culture of the king and his cronies. Bhutan has all the facts of a fascist country and this megalomane project is on of it. They are planning this city on stolen land from the refugee, it makes me sick, the propaganda that this country send out and the world believes it. I have worked and studies in Bhutan for 26 years, I have seen it all.
I hope this gets built. What a wonderful counterpoint to NEOM.
Looks great... On paper. We will see if the reality matches the vision. 9/10 it does not...

The future of Bhutan
Good luck !
Thanks,
What I saw in Bhutan a few years ago was the beginning of the end of a beautiful dream. I looked down into the beginnings of a massive dam to provide power to India. I also met consultants from the west, who had ideas about making money in Bhutan. So many new ideas at a micro level around the world for how to remain In partnership with Nature. Unfortunately, somehow, these ideas did not take hold in time to save Bhutan

@@RnBoy15 Do you work at BIG ? or are they outsourcing the animation. How are the people animation so real. Very rare for architecture have this quality of animation. I can only think of using UnrealEngine to make this

Gelephu Mindfulness City will be a Special Administrative Region (SAR). That means its laws and the way it's run will be different to the rest of Bhutan.
The Text is so disconnected from reality it almost sounds like satire.
If people are bored of vanity projects of Arab aristocrats & oligarchs, one Himalayan royal family & their oligarchs have begun a vanity project as an alternative. Just as pointless but different locale.

looks impractical, expensive, and disregards the needs of the people. If this was proposed in California, where homelessness keeps rising, I would hate it.

@@salakastBhutan is a extremely poor country with a government that refuses to help their people come out of poverty while creating a playground for the hyper rich that only benefits the Royal family.

@AL-lh2ht The people there near universally approve of the king's handling of the country. This is no playground for the rich, the people who are allowed to visit are heavily restricted in what they're allowed to do.Their material wealth is lacking but the people of Bhutan like it that way. Not every square inch of this planet needs to be paved over and extracted for resources.
@DNeonLamp

I don't see how this disregards the needs of the people since it's so vague that such infrastructure could easily fit in and it specifically identified social infrastructure. The rest of your comment makes sense though.

@@salakast ah yes the “happiness index” a thing, to which According to the World Happiness Report 2019, Bhutan is 95th out of 156 countries. That is pretty bad. And it’s fact that people travel to private resorts all the time to Bhutan. This is well documented. And guess who personally owns all these resorts. The royal family. A playground for billionaires. None of the money goes to civilians but only the royal family. Insanely bad education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc. it is a not very nice country to live in. And people do not rate high on “happiness”.
Hard to believe the king of Bhutan would fall for such cheesy crap! Somebody please warn the poor fellow about Instant Modernization virus, and the MBA bacteria.
The Scene at 2:04 is laughable, what is this robotic arm doing there ? It would be fairly loud to operate it in a space that looks otherwise designed for recreation. All of these monatges are so cliché. This is not given the humans there what they need, it is envisioning something and them looking how to find roles for humans to fit into
