Man I saw a platinum Sequoia the other day in person and I did not like the black trim above the wheels it looked so cheap and for a 82k+ SUV that’s not acceptable…I am leaning more towards the gx550 overtrail + I know with Lexus you get better quality and a more luxurious feel than any sequoia will give you. This particular spec is the exact vehicle I would go for. Looks really nice

That is the best of the new Toyota/Lexus redesigns. Love that a 3rd row is not forced on you.

I can’t wait to see one in person. And I definitely would like to have one in addition my 4Runner since I do like to go crawl around in the mountains. I’d definitely take this camping and stuff, but for some more of the extreme things, I’d like to keep the 4Runner around.

This is going to make the LX irrelevant. I don’t see the LX lasting another generation on sale in the US. We’ve really are never getting another flagship Land Cruiser in the US ever again… RIP US-market flagship LC/LX.

@@faheemabbas3965 They're in totally different classes. The LX is supposed to be the ultimate luxury large Lexus suv that can be used off road but most wont ever do it. The GX is far more focused on off road component, and it's smaller.

new 24 gx and tx will have some problems new v6 turbo is not tested just. Lexus also makes mistakes remember rx transmission. I just got new 2023 Gx premium 2 weeks ago Got 10k off too. 😂

i was thinking about this, the LX is definite better quality especially 2nd row, but not $30k nicer, and they are same size/TNGA-F, not like before, LC150/LC200 difference. @@faheemabbas3965

That steep windshield reminds me of my GLK , which I love. It's like driving in a Lighthouse ...you gets this full view of everything.

The only thing I don't like is how the back seats fold vs 4runner. Everything else seems superior.

I like how the infotainment screen is integrated into the dash.

So this is cool, and I love the color and the black roof, however I just can't with the front end. Much better than the previous gen, but this is actually really selling me on the 1958 LC. I dig the understated simplicity of that model.

Just personal preference, but I will have to respectfully disagree re the front end, much preferring this over the plain-looking LC front. I also prefer this dash/display over the LC. Touch controls should be less susceptible to failure by dust, etc. Anxious to see interior noise level comparisons between the two. I especially fear the 1958 LC will be noisy with all the hard plastics.

this is one of the very few vehicles I would consider moving out of my 2020 TRD pro Tundra for. That 2020 Tundra was roughly $55k out the door 4 years ago, all these new trucks are $65k, $70k, I'm sure this trim of the GX550 will be close to $80k. Can't say I can justify trading in my truck and handing over another $40k for this though, even if I do like it a lot.

It won't be close to $80k, it will exceed $80k. Expect $80-85k without markups.

The gas mileage is mind-boggling considering my heavier 2010 LX570 gets 16 1/2 to 17 MPG mixed driving with a V8 and regular gas.

This is great. I've been thinking about the Land Cruiser First Edition, but now I want to see one of these. I do NOT like two tiered storage area when you fold down the back seats. I really need one long, flat storage area. That's discouraging.

If you install a drawer system in the rear then you can achieve a flat floor. I suspect this is semi-intentional.

How does the ventilation look like for the back seats and the trunk area where the 3rd row seating would be? Coming from excellent rear AC in my LX470 I would hate to have it stuffy back there for my kids and doggos.

Looks good the Over trail GX 550 will be my next SUV time to save up. It will have the same engine as the LX 600 but i think the GX 550 is the best size

Would you say the 2nd row has more or less room than the new Landcruiser? Or about the same? Especially the middle seat on the bench, on the LC videos it looks like there is a big hump messing up the left room? I got 3 boys I gotta haul around in the back seat.

It looks like the way that back hatch pops up that a long rooftop tent would be a problem.

I'm not fully sold on it and the land cruiser. I love my 2016 4runner trail, but I'm really curious about the new 4runner trail hunter. If they make that model.

I hope its at the LA Auto Show. I'm planning on going and hope to check this beauty out in person.

Sweet car, i almost waited for this for my wife. She stuck with her 2023 Jeep Overland 4x4. heads up display, massage seats, loaded, 59k. Curious what this GX will sell for. Im still enjoying my 2021 TRD Pro Tundra..:)

I guess I can live with the massage driver's seat just to get the ML 21 speaker 1800 watt surround sound system, lol! I may need to take the 1958 off the list. Dealing with 2 systems (Turbo + engine = change the oil often) rather than 3 systems (Hybrid + Turbo + engine = change the oil often and keep the rear battery cooling vents clear) seems a better choice. Thanks for sharing, Jon.

That is the best looking Toyota/Lexus ever made! In fact, I think it's the best looking SUV available, and it will be nearly impossible to get one for the first year or two.

Very nice ride

Very nice looking vehicle. But one thing to remember is that the Lexus has pretty poor approach and departure angles (26/22) and only 8.9 of. Ground clearance. Compared to a 4Runner…(33/26) with 9.6 of gc. So Overtrail means light trails that are only, at most, moderately technical. If you come across large (tree) road obstructions…bring a chain saw. Pretty sure very few would try to rock climb in a Lexus. 🤷‍♂️

Woah - does the middle rear not fold down separately? This was my new ski-mobile. I haul 4 adults with skis inside my 4Runner right now and was looking at this for a nice replacement / upgrade. Prefer skis inside instead of on the roof.

I'm awaiting the GX550 Over Trail and will likely get one. I don't quite understand the OverTrail vs. the OverTrail+ and will likely depending on the differences &/or what which one is actually available and in which color(s). (I think I'm going to pass on a Sequoia now that I'm seeing more info on the GX550 coming in.)

Sadly I would have to get the over Trail plus because I want the mark Levinson audio system. The rest of the extras in the Overtrail Plus are added luxury features like front massage seats, memory seats and rear heated seats.

The current gen Sequoia is a disaster. I can't believe Toyota made something so mediocre. Super stiff ride, cramped third row, load floor isn't flat, fuel economy is nowhere near what they claim, road noise, etc.

... is the outlet in the rear cargo area 400 watts at idle or does it drop to 150 when driving ? asking because every vehicle I've had with that type of set up is usually 400/150 ... interesting vehicle - I imagine the Wall street types will like it ...

Two thoughts: 1. I like the blacked out roof way more than the white roof on the Land Cruisers. 2. I need Toyota to offer the new Taco in that incognito colour damnit!! It’s perfect.

You think this, the taco, and new tlc will still be able to take 17” wheels? I have two deposits and a set of Volk TE37xt ready to go for one of them lol

If you get the chance find out how easy it is to remove the seats? I am not really a fan of how they fold. Did they lock into place?

Such a rad vehicle. Incognito looks really good. It would be hard to decide between Incognito and Nori Green. I don’t get why Lexus took out the three zone climate controls though. The LC250 has it, so why not Overtrail? No pano roof either, which I think is also on the LC Premium.

@@TRDJon yeah, it’s weird. Every Overtrail video I’ve seen has not had three zone climate controls. Other GX trims have it, so it’s like Lexus purposely took it out. I absolutely love the exterior of the GX, but the LC250 has more of the interior features that I like.

@@DD-dj4jr it would appear the Overtrail does not have overhead vents. It just has the vents on the back of the center console like a 4Runner (not true 3-zone). The other GX trims do have overhead vents, as well as the LC250.

Well done Jon. Great review. I agree with you this is 90% of a 2025 4Runner. I mean what an be left? Maybe more of a knock down on luxury . Not sure we need a 4Runner now.

I needd third row in this trim . I would take family on trail with this. But maybe they give us a overtrail trim the LX , since did they say that trim will come to other models

Really a compelling offering. When will we see pricing? Actually on sale when in 2024? 17 mpg in this day and age is pretty bad however.

If they reveal hybrid specs at the upcoming auto shows, that would be great.

I love the boxy design. That's what an SUV SHOULD look like.

Thanks for sharing. I am considering this new GX or the TX. How does the 2nd row room in this GX compare to the TX? Also how is cargo capacity in the GX? I know its 6 inches shorter than the TX but it looks taller and wider than the TX.

Second row in TX slides back and forth but it's fixed in GX, and the TX offers more leg room. TX will have more cargo capacity overall too at nearly 98 cubic feet with second and third rows folded flat. No released info on GX cargo capacity yet but it's promised to offer more than the current GX460. They're very different vehicles with different purposes. The TX is like a lifted luxury minivan alternative with good on-road driving dynamics especially with the F Sport trim and good fuel economy with the hybrid powertrains. The TX will be considerably more fuel efficient than the GX (mid to high 20'smpg vs 17mpg combined) if that matters. The GX is a truck platform off-road capable vehicle and offers a twin turbo v6 versus the four-cylinder hybrid options with the TX. The GX has no on road driving impression reviews yet. The GX is a truck platform, the TX a unibody design. Typically, unibody platforms are superior for on road driving dynamics and comfort. Alot of hype about this long overdue GX550, it looks great to my eyes anyways and I'd expect demand will be high and who knows about markups!

Thanks for the notes. We have had 2 straight Sequoias (2nd Gen) and I like the smooth ride of the truck based platform but do not want the new Sequoia as I do cannot fit 208" length in my garage. The TX is definitely more practical with greater MPG but I love the design of the GX and am not in love with the TX design.

They both should sell very well. Solid, reliable vehicles. I agree, the GX is definitely the looker of the two. I just hope its cargo space is decent. It won't have a flat load floor with the two row option unfortunately but it's not as bad as the Sequoia set up with the battery placement compromising the cargo design.@@njt7117

Yah if you were going to swap your 4Runner for this definitely this over the 4Runner by far. Now depending on the redesign 😅😅 I don’t even know.

Other regions will have two seats in the third row, which is why there are cupholders in the back.
