I'm currently building out a rich text editor at work. It's started to get insanely complex the more functionality you need, but enjoying it. We're using slate, it's super low level but gives you a lot of flexibility. I did try platejs but it requires you to install 100s of packages and tailwind just to make it work

We are also using slate at work, but for personal or side projects, wanted to fins something easier to get going with.
Thank you very much for sharing this package ❤ good luck with your new project, I like how your keyboard sounds like.
Nice, I was looking to try it out. And nice video as always.
Love your efforts and work bro., may u get more and more success in life. ❤

Thank you so much 😀
Thank you for this!
Never saw this before. I usually use Quill in my React projects. Its super strong and easy to setup. Not sure if its that easy to customize that way, but works like a charm.
Some of the extensions are not free though. I remember that I wanted to add emoji support and it was not possible in free tier? To me it shouldn't be a priced product..
Side project king 👑 but I love you! Especially since you’re making me something to help with my writing 😘 I love ya! You’re doing a great job

tiptap is one of if not the best out there.
That keyboard typing sounds satisfying af
We use lexical at work. Very powerful and nice experience overall
Hey Cody great vid, just wondered how you managed to make it work using Tailwind styles? I am using the same editor and for some reason tailwind styles do not apply - instead I have to use classnames and traditional css. Only part of my project where its not working!

Idk I just call the editor methods from buttons that I style myself
Tiptap is the best right now
How do you save and load the input to a database?
How do you create so many side projects? Do you "finish" them? For my is hard to start something new without finishing the other.
@WebDevCody
Ай бұрын
no I don't finish many of them, but I always make sure there is 1 new thing I'm learning before I start the side project otherwise it's not worth it. A lot of the content I make on my channel come from the things I learn from working on these side projects
Have you tried lexicaljs?
The sound of your keyboard is sooooo soooothing, what keyboard do you use?

I guess you didn’t see the video in which Cody demonstrates the fake keyboard-typing noises!

Yeah, tip tap is awesome
"I know I have a lot of side projects. Don't judge me" Relatable lol
yes babe
a challenge for you would be to create a todo list with tiptap where each todo is draggable and indentable
I knew it was gonna be tip tap
The nightmare is when client asks for including image importing feature to the editor !!
can you save rich text with bold/italic etc in supabase/postgres?
@vommir.

yes
Did something like this but with Sanity CMS
is it paid though after a while? Or can you use it without paying?
@WebDevCody

Paid is only if you want some more advanced stuff. The editor is free and mit license
u should try platejs
their docs are really hard to wrap my head around
Please add links for the stuff that you mention to your video descriptions like Theo/Travis/Josh/others do 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

oh I forgot, thank you!
Quill is a better option I guess with more formatting, settings, themes and free to manipulate ! Give it a try

@WebDevCody

Doing well! Thanks for asking!
this is paid
@WebDevCody

Yeah I noticed they have a paid plan, but their free editor is MIT so you don’t need to pay for that. I think the paid stuff is integration with their service which handles multiple people editing the same text at the same time, leaving annotations and comments, etc.

@@WebDevCody regarding those extra features, only Lexical (from the Facebook team) offers all of it completely for free, but it has a very steep learning curve compared to tiptap
