You need a lunker hunt pocket frog for those small ponds and bfs. I run it on 6 lb braid and it is a blast!

So how does the Kestrel bfs rod compare to the Phenix Classic bfs rod? I have been fishing the Phenix Classic bfs for about 1 year now and just picked up a 2nd last week. I'm interested if the Kestrel compares but would like to get some impute before I wast money on something that just isn't as good.

I have 2 of the 6’9” L models and they rip.

I know it’s a BFS Rod but I wish the handle was 2” longer. Same design just longer. Yes I own this Rod and love it but that’s my only gripe! Tight lines

Thats a great creek and pond rod. The action is spot on and easy to cast just be safe bank flipping fish with feather lights.

I'm looking at the light 6'9" version for light action bass fishing. Do you think it would be good for small plastics

Yes! Just make sure you're running a lighter line. I use 4lb on mine.

really not a fan of 2 piece rod although the rod does feel nice i hope they make a 6'9 version and 1 piece

BFS is a Reel type. So your comment doesn't really make sense... Using 1/10-5/8oz covers all "Finesse" weight categories for bass fishing lures. Hope this helps.

@@RyanRiggedBFS (Bait Finesse System) is a term coined by Shimano. In reality, it’s now used as a blanket term to describe *lures, reels, and *rods (tackle in general), that fall within a certain weight range. That’s why BFS experts say BFS vs “true” BFS when describing lures/weight ranges, etc...

Thought it said 3/8 first, which is exactly what several as BFS declared rods by Shimano show up 5/8 is definitely over. Power Finesse is more where I'd set that, depending on the action.
