I have this mic and use it for normal gaming/ KZread. I have it for 3 years and I love it tbh, it sounds so good

I use 2 of these for overhead drum mics and they work great. The cymbals really shine through. I used to use one for recording rap vocals and it did the job. As for singing I use an akg220 and a akg120 for acoustic guitar.

I think it is important to emphasize that a mic is only as good as how your voice responds to it. I have heard the mic to sound smooth on other voices but they are different than yours.

This mic sounded good enough for me to buy. I didn't hear a thing he was complaining about either, and I am an audio engineer.

Same. I've been using this microphone for recording vocals for music, as a podcast microphone, for voice-overs... For close to the last 15 years now. It does pick up the plosives quite eagerly, that's for sure, but nothing a pop filter wouldn't solve.

I actually think the P120 sounds worse, which really comes down to preference. If I had to describe it. Like how incandescent lights have a warm look and LEDs have a cold look, the MXL has a warm sound, and the P120 has a cold one. The plosive problem isn't even there if you're positioning the microphone correctly.

That title scared me for a solid couple seconds, I thought they were discontinuing it

This mic works great for room or overheads. I take out like 300hz and blew and bam. Not bad

This is my voiceover mic 🎙 and yes, is not that good, the plosive rejection is the main reason why I don’t like it. I’m checking options right now. Thank you for the video

I have this microphone and I don't recommend it to anyone. it sounds like paper and when I get close to it the bass is uncontrollable in the mix without making the recording sound thin and cheap. As a Polish speaker, I can say that our "s" or "sz" is really harsh and recordings from this microphone are just tragic for 90% of voices. As an experienced mixing engineer who already has a lot of credits for music, I could not deal with this microphone.

The p120 sounds very muddy the MXL 770 sounds nice and crisp

Is the de-esser you use hardware or software based?

I got a hum in mine. I only unboxed it today. I'm trying to use this mic on a ur44c. Literally been sitting in the box since about 6 months cos I can't seem to get rid of it. I heard there was a problem with the 770 but I don't know... anybody know the fix my fellow producers

I love the tone of the P120 so much.

@@andreafedericopieri2998 Not at all. To me it's open/bright with a bit of grain, which sounds really good. The 770 sounds boxy comparatively.

Which is the roll off actually active on? Slid to the left or the right?

I have used one on vocals for a few albums. I also shot it out with a few really good mics that I already own and this one just works with my voice. Is it amazing? No lol. It is good and it works for my voice. I put a dirty sock over the grill & let er ripp eh bud!

Frequency response is not flat. But it sounds clean.

You use a de-esser like it is going out of sssssssssstyle.

Wow... I had this mic for over 10 years and used! I paid 50 bucks for it 😂 though now it might be dead or dying... good info albeit my pride was hurt a bit lol 😅

This would be a medium diaphragm microphone. Less than half an inch would be small.

Nah...i don't subscribe to that. Large or small in my mind. There is no universal acceptance of guidelines...and until there are...I'm sticking with that

I agree, this is not good microphone. I also have a problem with sibilances and this mic is terrible for that... Harsh and sharp. That was my first condenser a couple years ago and my.. first big disappointment.

I detest the sound of mine. Used it once. Bought and enjoy the sound of the King Bee 2. So fat, heavy, unwieldy... irritating to use, even makes my PS1 droop and can't set it at a good angle. So, just for sheets and goggles, I'm going to put the Neat capsule into the MXL. I just have to wait for the mount to arrive, can't transfer the one in the Neat, it's a rubbery triangle made just for those big fat Bee heads!

LMAO! You could put the guts in an M49 body and park a bus inside.

I watched this hoping some life changing insights would be imparted. None were granted. It's a turd mic but we already knew that. I gave a pity like.
