The paper wasps I have been dealing with all year will go to another nest to join their colony if allowed in when their nest is destroyed, I watched them going from nest to nest. I have a mighty nest INSIDE the wood and brick pillar of the overhang to my front door steps. I can't see it or get to it. I spray the area which is way over my head with dish soap, water and peppermint oil which works great if you can hit the nest or the wasp itself directly, so needless to say there were far more that the ones I killed down inside on the nest. But they had 5 other nests around my patio (only mine, and I'm attached to 4 others who have zero problems). I'm disabled and live in a very busy city and the HOA won't do anything and when I had pest control come out and said they use the same type of spray I do and there's no guarantee they won't move back in next year or that they'll even be killed off this year since they can't even see the big nest in the pillar, and they'd charge me $375 for it. I have absolutely no idea what to do. Their front door is a small crack between the wood and the brick. I bought this place 3 years ago and this was the first year it got bad but there wasa nest I destroyed the year before, 2 more came back in it's place. There are 3 more nests around the side of my townhome that I sprayed and killed off but they're still there, I can'tget to them.. The solution I use works pretty well but they die slowly which I don't like and if I can't get to the nest directly I won't ever be able to fix the problem. Maybe I can use some foam insulation to fill the cracks. It looks like there are some bur holes drilled into the brick and when I sprayed into one they would come out of the crack in droves. So I think the former owners tried to have the nest destroyed. They had small grandchildren. I can't use my patio at all. It's always swarming. And it's so high up I need someone to help me with a ladder that works on stairs. I have no idea what to do. I highly doubt the paper bag works. But I am willing to try anything. It's where my groceries and packages are delivered on a more than weekly basis. It's out of control and dangerous for them, for my nurse who comes weekly and for myself and my dogs who I have to take out through there several times a day. By the way, knocking down a nest and running isiterally the opposite thing you should do. Really dumb. I didn't see one insect flying so I would imagine if there were nests he didn't take a picture of for the video, (they weren't visible to us) they must have been dead and deserted.

poor you. sonds awful. hope you have fixed your problem by now. the cooking oil spray idea wold be a good option for you as the spray should get into the cavity. perhaps drill some holes and spray at different points to cover the cavity.

At night when the wasps are all on the nest warming it and sleeping, do this: Mix a cup of water and bleach or water and vinegar, about half and half or so (yea, I guessed at it) - use a stadium cup with the top that’s larger than the nest is! Carefully and quietly climb up on a step ladder or chair, then put the cup over the nest against the ceiling or gutter; slide it til the nest drops into the liquid. Congrats, you’ve killed the entire nest - instantly.

For those types of wasp nest they looked like paper/mud wasp. An easier method would have been using a can of PAM cooking spray. Walk up to nest early in morning or evening when they are mostly all back to nest. With a CONSTANT spray saturate the nest with the spray as the wasp come out there wings will get suck together while flying though the cooking spray and they will fall like a rock no threat. This is a safe method will not harm you or other insects that eat the dead wasp with poisons. you could leave nest up if you want they will not rebuild in an oily nest. If the wasp are in ground hot cooking oil pour this down hole. I don't believe in soapy water method works well wasp can crawl though that and dry off and live. and soap and water soaks in to soil to fast. Warning this method does not work on HORNETS they have much stronger flying abilities.

I just tried your method with some Dollar Tree butter cooking spray, and it worked like a charm! It was a smaller nest with about 8 wasps. Each of the wasps got sticky, and fell to the ground making them easy targets. NOTE: I did this at about 11pm in my shed, so they were "less active". I am not sure if they would have fought back more aggressively if it had been during the day. Your solution was the only safe one I could find on the internet after about a 10 minutes search. Thanks!

  • @kybble

@@Support_Trump_and_Human_Art Glad you tried it I have been doing this for decades. Hope that can of butter spray didn't cost to much in these times. Real safe method and a treat for the birds and ants that eat them afterwards. They wont rebuild in same nest either. Yes they would have been aggressive earlier in day but as long as you get oil on them they drop like a rock. I have never been stung doing it this way. Sometimes I carry 2 cans one for my defense wasps flying toward me and one trained on the wasp nest. And dude go to sleep!!

This is a deterrent and not 100% effective. I have these hanging in the yard and on the house, the paper wasps still started to established a nest in my tool shed. It is currently between the size of a baseball and grapefruit, was not there last Friday when i grabbed the camping gear. Even last night after dark when I put the gear back i didn't even notice it, only today when i went to grab one of my tarps, i pulled out the tarp and was face to face with the nest that was just beside the crate I keep the tarps in. Going to attempt to tackle it tonight, they have been grouchy all day now that they know I have discovered the nest I can barely put my head in there before they start to emerge. I have determined its location and should be able to drill a small hole from the outside and blast it with spray, the closed shed should keep most of the swarm inside. I will also run a thermacell in my work area for half an hour before i start, I have seen videos that show that it not only repels but kills them as well. Likely wont help a whole lot in a swarm but anything is better than nothing. Beating them down is not good, friends and I did this to a hornets nest on the eave of their garage one night, knocked it off into the back lane and doused it with gasoline and incinerated it. Neighbours were cheering us on since the hornets were likely causing them misery as well, for several seconds anyway until we were all attacked and retreated to safety. It did take care of the nest but it was painful.

This video more like a death wish by wasps, in my wildest dreams i would never do this , and in the day too. i did not want to get as close as cutting a hole in the wall lining giving them an escape route right to me. so i thought i would stand on a ladder ,start a can of flea bomb and throw it down the space at the roof to the spot that seemed to have more wasps coming and going, just letting it spray itself out. and it worked. yay no more scary wasps in and around my garage, i did it at night and next day no activity at all. my nest would not have been very big, if you have a big one maybe put 2 cans in. goodluck.😄🤩

I dont know if thats the best way to get rid of hornets nest but sure takes guts to knock out their nests like that. I need to demolish a stone wall and there are at least three nest on it. Maybe i try your method. But i will make a few practice runs first

yea nah. dont think so mate. hit them and run. you have to be a lunitic to do that. the cooking oil spray sounds like a go.disabling them from flying at you. then set it on fire. just for fun.
