Being hard stuck bronze 5 is the worst bc you do well and you get a good win streak, but 5-0 only moves you up like 11% in the ranking. Then, because you are the worst rank, you get the worst teammates and you move down again. I feel bad for the mercy.

I think it's mercy one tricking.

met an ana player in qp that was bronze and I told them, "As a mercy main, I've NEVER had an ana ever heal me. You're the first. Ain't no way your bronze" and with a little help from my friends and I ensured they got out of bronze, and up to gold. Not a remarkable upgrade, but I couldn't stand seeing a fellow support diehard be stuck where they don't belong.

man they werent kidding when they said it was a disappointing end.... Definitely a game of overwatch right there

Proud sister of the featured mercy, she only started playing this year but she generally performs pretty well. She's worked hard to improve and it's nice to see how far she's come.

your sister did such a good job!!! she's making massive plays and damage boosting so much, and she's doing so many of the "little" things that make Mercy so impactful. she is timing damage boost and healing around her teammates getting anti'd which is huge, and overall, she's just doing such a good job. she's got a LOT of potential on top of already doing really awesome things right now.

Am bronze and trying to find a mercy who play like this is rare, sometimes I even wait until they change off mercy or if things got worse, I asked them if we can shuffle support hero so I can use her properly 😂

Their mercy gameplay is fine but I think they're in bronze because they don't realise they can switch. I got from bronze to plat on support and most of it is realising when to switch, this game it's clear mercy cannot compete against the enemy comp. The fact they never switch makes me think they're a one trick which makes it basically impossible to climb from bronze

Actually pretty good mercy playing, I have gold/plat games where mercy will never use blue beam, so the fact they're using blue beam as much as they are is nice to see. I feel like if they used the space cancel for GA more they could have gotten better positioning and moved more quickly. But honestly better mercy playing thanbronze.

Definitely didn’t do that bad to be hard stuck Bronze 5. Probably deserves mid-silver. She has the mechanics of the movement down but her positioning can still use some work. As someone who started on games like Valorant, her sweeping the ground with her crosshair will always trigger me. However, she still had a decent sense of where her teammates were and what/who to prioritize when. Definitely not perfect but definitely not bronze. It’s hard to climb on support though since games are so heavily dependent on your DPS and your tank

@@projectnostalgia5427Hey, if you want to climb on support, I suggest that you play a dps Baptiste to carry your team, then when you reach gold you can play Mercy again. With your game sense and a little bit of aim training (since you’ve never played an fps before), you can reach gold easily.

I want you to know that i understand how intentional you are trying to be and how much you're paying attention. people only seem to be focusing on the fact you are using blue beam instead of actually how skillful your use can be, but i see you :) i play mercy too, I know how minute the decisionmaking gets amd i see you ☺️ 15:00 this valk was so good and well timed. chefs kiss. the team fight had just started, and you wanted to support zarya while they were aggressive while staying safe at a distance. super super good.

Mercy is a pretty hard support character to climb out of Bronze with, ngl. Speaking as a former Bronze Mercy main. When I swapped to Ana and Zen, I got to gold in a week or two.

I think the biggest problem with maining Mercy in bronze is your utility is very reliant on your teammates and their skill and game sense. When I was trying to climb out of gold/plat in OW1 I really had to learn another support that could almost carry at lower sr. Moira is very strong down here if you can learn your own game sense and awareness because she's a much simpler character mechanically and you don't have to rely on your team at the same level to perform well or bail yourself out. Then OW2 Kiriko helped me get to Master finally where DPS players seemed significantly more skilled which helped make my Mercy play so much more effective.

I disagree with this and let me explain why. I think the key to playing any support in lower ranks is supporting what your team does, not what you think they should do. your tank is probably not going to go in at the optimal time, so don't waste resources expecting them to do something. wait until they actually go in and then expend resources. a good mercy example is not just damage boosting who you """should""" damage boost. damage boost who is actively doing damage. just because mercy and sojourn is a strong combo in high ranks doesn't mean it will be in a lower rank. don't waste time with your sojourn if they're not doing damage (either because they're missing too much or they're in a bad spot so they're barely seeing the enemies). damage boosting a tank as mercy can be massive, but because people just parrot "mercy should be with the DPS" a lot of mercys aren't empowered to get creative and actually support the teams in their rank effectively. an ana example is not just yeeting a nade before the fight really starts and expecting your team to follow up. wait a bit until your team has engaged and then nade so your team will follow up naturally basically, capitalizing on what your team chooses to do is key. paying attention to what they are actually doing instead of what you think they should do based on what you know highly ranked teams do is key. the advice of "choose a different support because X is bad in low ranks for Y reason" is bad advice imo. it reiterates the false narrative that supports are at the mercy of their teams and serves to reinforce the attitude I see so much from fellow supports that "I did all I could, it's just my team's fault or it's the hero's fault, I have no responsibility here and there is nothing I can do differently going forward" because it's a shitty attitude and it's a lie. I'm not saying this is what you are meaning to say. but this is the impact of this kind of advice imo. it just adds to this idea of helplessness and that has just not been my experience climbing through the metal ranks

I find playing Mercy at lower ranks may not utilize max potential more often than at higher ranks - higher chance your team doesn't know what best to do or how to do it properly. This Mercy is playing great, they aren't just sitting on their tank and healbotting. But if your team is not properly controlling high ground or communicating a flank or dive for you to support, then I find it more beneficial to be a support that can put in more value on your own rather than relying on trying to enhance the team. Of course team comp may favor a support pick - like you generally aren't gonna go Mercy or Moira if your team is Ball, Sombra, Tracer.

I think my fear is just the idea that Mercy can't work in lower ranks so don't bother trying, because that's something people say a lot. but I don't think there's anything wrong with acknowledging there are difficulties but also acknowledging there are a lot of ways around them. some people just want to play Mercy, and if all we do is fixate on the specific things that are hard, it sends the message that Mercy can't be impactful without teammates that many Mercy players don't currently have, which is discouraging but also untrue. I'm struggling to find the exact words I want, so let me try to give an example and maybe that will do the trick. when I first started trying to improve with Mercy, I heard Niandra talk about looking for opportunities to damage boost when you're trying to work on boosting more, and they gave examples like boosting Rein's fire strike at enemy spawn doors, Moira's damage orb at spawn doors, etc. this helped me immediately feel the impact I could bring to the team because I was able to think about my role in the TEAM, not just my relationship to certain members of the team. I was making conscious, intentional choices, I was bringing impact completely independent of my team because my teams were going to do those things anyway. I was making a proactive choice to contribute value. as I improved and gained confidence in my judgment for when my team could survive without my healing and when damage boosting was more impactful, this same sense of proactivity extended to the habit I was making of damage boosting my dps. I feel like that's what bothers and worries me the most about how people spend too much energy on the idea that Mercy is team dependent and to an extent that is negative in lower ranks. it lends itself to this idea that Mercy doesn't and can't bring value on their own because you have to wait for your team to do something instead of proactively contributing value. I mean, we have all heard the brain dead people who are like "mercy gameplay is just holding m1 and m2, it takes no skill!" and we both know that's not true. I think connecting Mercy's value to something outside of the player's control isn't the right way to talk about her because when I think about my gameplay like this, as a series of intentional choices to maximize something my team is already doing, I never feel helpless or bored with the hero. I never feel limited by my team because I'm not waiting for them to do something with the resources I'm giving them. that's why I fucking love mercy so much haha I am constantly making decisions and contributing so much value. and I worry that we miss out on sharing what makes Mercy so special if all we do is talk about how she's "bad" in lower ranks. yes, there are Mercy specific challenges to playing support in lower ranks that another support might not face. but those challenges aren't insurmountable, and a lot of my joy from playing Mercy comes from easily overcoming those challenges just by being intentional and creative.

But if you're one-tricking Mercy (not saying that's you, but COULD be this one from the vid) not every comp is gonna favor her and if you have a Rein that can't hit a fire strike or a Sojourn that slides head on into a team to get melted or an Ashe that can't hit a dynamite or any shots and won't take high ground, etc., then it's good to consider a character than can provide more individual value if your team isn't getting momentum or won't switch. Trust me, I'm not saying Mercy is bad or unusable at any level, I'm just saying in my experiences there's more versatility to her value with more experienced teammates. I think I had my most hours on Mercy the past 3 seasons.

@@SGuy715 I definitely see your point, I wonder if maybe there's room for advocating more situational pistol use in lower ranks? obviously it's important to be able to hit shots, I would not benefit from this specific advice😂 but I feel like there is room in the conversation for "if you can hit your shots, there are times when whipping out the Glock will be more impactful than damage boost" because even if you don't use the Glock a lot, like me, mostly because my aim sucks but also because I'm in a rank where my dps are more reliable, there are still moments when it's the right choice, as you know. obviously we don't want people to ignore their team, get three kills, and it doesn't even matter because their whole team is dead because they tunnel visioned. but I wonder if maybe the conversation has swung too far to one side and maybe there's some wiggle room for some players, especially lower ranked ones, to use the pistol more frequently than you or I might. I'm sure your aim is better than mine, I'm just alluding to the fact you're in a higher rank so your teammates are more reliable and damage boost will be more valuable more of the time. but it IS also hard to introduce that level of nuance, and if you're in lower ranks, non-aim skills are overall more important to focus on because you will always use those skills, vs pistol use which you'll use less the more you climb. but I wonder if maybe more encouragement for some amount of aim training could be useful. even or maybe especially for me because I happen to main a hero where that's not an important skill so while I do dabble with other heroes, aim isn't something I've focused on at all, basically, and I definitely have never done any meaningful aim training with Mercy's pistol specifically, so my aim practice with Ana will help a little but it's not a substitute. idk, I don't disagree with you. I actually do agree that I've had a much easier time with Mercy once I started climbing, definitely by the time I was in plat. but constantly hearing that Mercy was too hard in lower ranks always made me feel bad ESPECIALLY once Moira was released because people just flamed me and told me to switch to Moira :( I still haven't given Moira the attention she deserves, part of me still holds the grudge and still feels like Moira is a chore instead of how fun I know she can be lol

I feel like if that mercy practices their movement more, they could definitely climb. Even in my diamond/masters games I have other mercy players who pick her before I do and just heal bot or feed. They seem to definitely know where mercy’s utility is. Just keep using cover and master her movement you’ll climb soon ☺️

as a mercy main who learned when not to res that last res hurt my soul. there was a chance to save their junkerqueen or at least contest, maybe even get a possible res on junkerqueen. plus they had reaper still there. the mercy player is decent but it does make sense why they’re still bronze. my number one tip with mercy, your survival > your team. that res on the moria had such a slim chance of the mercy surviving, obviously since they died, so it’s not worth going for it.

@@user-pf6pw6un7s depends, you have to see them with higher ranked guys first. If my team does bad, has bad positioning and makes mistakes that can affect my gameplay as well. Especially with mercy, they can't really carry like other characters and need the person they pocket to be good to actually work. If they can get out of bronze helll we'll see

if a Moira isn't smart enough to use fade to get away from the ultimate before it's actually cast and they're not able to escape, they deserve to be caught in the ultimate. fade is the escape tool, but you need a few brain cells to know when to use it in order to escape. Mei doesn't have any other mobility, whereas fade is very mobile, so while she might be able to escape the ult itself, Mei is still stuck in what is now most likely a bad position

They might have to start switching to other characters to get out of Bronze. I'm in mid silver on support right now, and their Mercy looks way better than mine. I don't play Mercy hardly at all, I play for a second in QP, get rolled and then switch off. But, I think the reason I'm in Silver and not Bronze is because I try to play characters that will better support my team. In this case (I can't say for sure since I didn't play in the game, hindsight is 20/20), I think I would've switched to Baptist to increase my healing output and keep the team up when they were being aggressive on defense.

As a Mercy main who averages diamond, this mercy got robbed by the ranking system. They're not tunnel visioning too hard, they're switching to damage boost as quickly as their target reaches full health (soooo many low ranked mercy's linger on heal beam when it's not needed), they're peeling, they have decent target priority, and most importantly they're using GA and high ground to mostly stay on the sidelines of the fight instead of just walking directly into it. I'm curious how this person would play with the stereotypically awful bronze 5 team (you know, dps who are playing on a toaster, a tank who's insanely passive, and a team with no concept of positioning). Either way based on this vod I'd say this mercy deserves gold.

If you are at the very bottom of Bronze 5, then you can win 40 matches in a row and stil be bronze 5, my point is, you just gota keep grinding!

The unfortunate truth is mercy is one of the worst characters to try and escape bronze with. They could do well just going moira to climb to silver or gold

I can't wait to see you in my games, just make sure to practice auto locking mercy so you can steal her first :p it's one of the most important mercy skills!

I would love to have this mercy in my gold/plat tankgames. How is she bronze!?

I have some tips for this Mercy, though I'm more of an Ana player than a Mercy one. 1) You had moments where I could tell you were trying to negate the backward GA nerf by turning around to GA back to where you wanted to be, this is a good habit to have for situations where you quickly need to get back into cover. When you GA, think less about how you're getting closer to your team and ask yourself these questions "Why am I GAing right now?" "Am I using my GA to go into cover or am I moving into a bad position?" "Will me moving here affect my ability to escape or to get to teammates that might need my help?" When you start thinking more about why you're using GA you start to break bad GA habits. 2) Look around more! You can look for flankers and check on teammates behind you to see if any of them need help. Mercy isn't mechanically intensive so take advantage of that, you might end up catching a Sombra that's trying to flank your team, or a Reaper who's planning to ult on you. 3) I understand the want to res, especially in a fight that's stressful and you just want your teammates to get back faster and since it's Overtime spawns are longer, but for that exact reason you need to take a deep breath and think about your team, "Will they survive without my healing while I res?" "Is this res safe?" "If I res this person, how likely is it that they'll immediately die?" Res can change fights by giving your team a numbers advantage, but if you lose a teammate while ressing, or if they die after you res them, or you die and your team loses a support, it's not a worthwhile res. 4) You have very good awareness, you know when to go in with your team and you know when trying to help them will just get the both of you killed, but you need to work on staying away from your team while you dmg boost or heal them. You don't want to end up being caught in something like a Mei blizzard just because you were too close to an ability meant for them, or catch an anti when you didn't have to. 5) You make a lot of good decisions but sometimes you're not fully confident and it causes you to hesitate and then instead you don't get to benefit as much from that good decision. You'll still make slow decisions and sometimes make the wrong ones, but it'll help you learn to make those decisions easier ones and make them faster. Overall, you've got really good fundamentals for Mercy and you're decision making is decent, on Mercy its very easy to autopilot and not fully think about what you're doing. If you focus on thinking about every action you make, at first you'll play worse since you aren't used to it, but in the end it'll help you improve a lot!

To those of you hardstuck bronze 5, I was stuck last season. coming from rainbow six siege I relay info in team chat in all co op shooters but this season I switched to playing torb only, muted mic and I'm now on plat with 68% winrate so theres defintely something to only focusing on getting great at one character then moving on to the next, something to think about.

The only major critique is they need to battle mercy less because they didn't hit anything when they did... On one of the ults in overtime they decided to battle mercy and didn't hit anything and their whole team died :| But the positioning and target priority is definitely at least silver.

As someone who is horrible at fps games i played this game for 3 months just to get a feel to the “im hard stuck bronze” players. I touched high plat all roles (while im aware that after placements, one can easily get a higher rank than they are, i kept playing for 3 consecutive seasons) so tbh i find it surreal to see someone as bad as i am get to plat this easily while people are “hard stuck” bronze ??

I was stuck in bronze5 for Like 2 years. I would get some 5-0 cards and still wouldn't rank up😅 I made an alt account to make sure and placed gold immediately. So with that confidence I kept trying and made some friends and got to gold on my main account eventually after several 5-1 cards. Idk. I heard it based on average. And ngl, I did a lot of losing the first year. Didn't care to learn anything about the game before lol.

If your bronze as mercy should really pick up another support to be a dps support until you reach plat and have competent teammates to damage boost.

I was in gold 2 yesterday and I got 6.3k damage boost in a single match. there are cracked dps in all ranks, and mercy is hella viable in lower ranks as well as higher ones. it's just a matter of figuring out how to identify the most impactful members of your team and commit your resources on making their plays successful. and it's truly a commitment. it's hard to see your tank get low and force yourself to trust your other support to keep them alive instead of going to help most of the time

I feel bad for this mercy. Her teammates were absolute dogshit. I'm a low diamond on both tank and dps but silver on support and its just so cringe healing down kids in silver.

Playing support never gets better even in higher elos, trust me, it is always better to just play a character where you can get frags. If I play a tank like dva or zarya i can mark the pharah by myself, what can I do as support? discord them and hope my team helps? play ana/bap and get maybe 1-2 shots on the pharah while the rest of my team ignores her and dies in the background to something kiteable? and dont even get me started on the idiotic reinhardts you get in competitive. seriously, playing support in this game is downright masochism, which is a shame because some of them like brigitte are super fun.

it depends on the situation! if it's the first round and spawn doors literally just opened and someone gets randomly oneshot by a Hanzo, I would say no, it's not a good idea. your team has plenty of time to capture the objective and your teammate will be back in less than 15sec. but if your team has less than a minute left on the clock, then maybe it might be worth it but maybe not. it would also depend on who died. if it's Tracer, she will come back very fast anyway so it might be a better idea to save res for later for someone like maybe your less mobile other support -- and this might be true even if your team doesn't have much time left in the round. but if it's someone slower who has a fight winning ultimate that your team needs to capture the objective, it might be a good idea to res. basically, it all depends on the situation, your team comp, the relative skill of your teammates (you might feel more comfortable using res on someone who has been reliably popping off), and which round and which map.

@@sethescope that’s typically what I aim to do but I tend to get (more often than not) teammates who yell at me for res when 9/10 times we either just left spawn or we just won a team fight and I’m saving it for a moment that will be more beneficial to the team. Which also results in them saying I never healed. 🥴 I can’t seem to win.

@@ahintoflavender it's not your job to keep people happy or convince them that you're playing your hero or role correctly. people being shitty has nothing to do with you, it has everything to do with them. there's a reason I don't bother with voice or text chat - to me, any possible benefit is overcome by the likelihood of shitty people, and I don't feel like giving them the opportunity to affect my mental.

I’m a gold mercy. I would be so ashamed but so amused if he saw my gameplay. I fuck around a lot and duo with my bsf while doing good as well as do a lot of risky rezes to the point where idk how I even do them, as in middle of the team rezes and I get out alive.

Is it a perfect mercy? God no but was that a genuine bronze 5? I really don’t think so! I think they need to prioritise loving themself more but honestly they do well in their movement and not flying into the enemy. Compared to the other mercy’s movement they did really well and I genuinely don’t think they’re a bronze 5 player!

A lot better than my Mercy and I'm gold (though not gold by playing Mercy tbf, but I can do well on Mercy in gold!)

I can fully relate to the Mercy, I play pretty much like them and we're both stuck in lowest rank. 😞 Being stuck IS real, at least for Support mains cause we have less damage impact and can't count on random people to get picks yet we can't go Support DPS cause we need to heal - a lot. Often I end up having a 5:3 streak and then get bronze 5 all over again. Usually people say Moira is best for climbing and I can see why since she has more impact and all but that still wont fix the mindset of DPS and Tanks charging in and not taking cover, like, there's just so much healing we can do at a time and then we get blamed. Bap and Zen might work too with lamp and discord orb although Zen heals are rather slow so the other Support would need to help out more. Honestly I think most Supports are at least one rank higher skillwise than they are at their current rank but just can't climb out.

Definitely a metal rank but bronze 5 is not what I see, low gold high silver, more cause some of those choices she make are questionable, but easy fixes, just the ass of being a mercy player in bronze though, win streaks only last so long with a pool you get in bronze

better movement could have saved her a couple times

6:10 no way he missed that even tho mercy’s ulting and she has a ton of mobility she stays completely still and the payload cancels the rez

not everyone knows that the payload moves fast enough that it can cancel res. it moves JUST fast enough to do that. less experienced players, especially new players, aren't going to have this niche knowledge.

The Ults 😬 my biggest concern.... This mercy needs to work on the timing of their ult with the other support because Ults for support are supposed to... Be team supporting. And these Ults are just.... Selfish Ults imo. Idk that's what stood out the most to me.

I really really disagree. their ults were well timed (usually when the fight was not won or lost) and they went HARD on damage boost, which is an incredibly awesome way to valk. did they make mistakes? sure, they're human like the rest of us. but in general, I think their ults were very very good

If you review the patent for blizzard's new matchmaker (very likely the one in OW2) is that it specifically tries to place in your matches to create the same results that you've always had. Its very difficult to move ranks because the matchmakers isn't aiming for skill, its aiming to keep the results the same.

I think they're playing with 60 fps or lower. When viewed as a replay, you'll see low frames as jerky movement because those frames it "skips" weren't recorded. So what would look as smooth movement with 300+ frames will appear to snap. You see it earlier in the VOD too, also in the statue courtyard of the map, so could be that's where their hardware is struggling.

Mercy/Zen is a great heal comp at higher elos though. It's not that high on healing, but the damage increase changes all of the break points. Any DPS character would be thrilled, especially since there wasn't anyone to dive the supports on the opposing team.

From Bronze to Diamond (where people begin to have actual gamesense) Mercy/Zen is one of the worst support comps you can have, that and mercy lucio because the raw healing output is too low, plus zen and mercy can only heal 1 target at a time unless VALK and if the DPS are playing flankers or dive then it is extremely hard to provide all the healing needed as players in these ranks do not understand how to position effectively. Zen/Mercy is a main,flex support comp but in lower elo's Zen should be played with another flex support until he can be played effectively with another support who knows how to main support e.g. a Brig or kiriko. However, in high elo's it depends on the comps that are being run. If the other team is not running any dive then it would be a good support comp to run as the zen is relatively safe and is probably paired near the back with a poke or midrange character. Zen/Brig is still the better comp at high elo's which is also currently the meta right now but this is beginning to shift away from this. Mercy/Zen in high elo's does work well due to high damage output from Zen, Discord Orb and Dmg Boost meaning a team can very easily just rush through the opposing team with high raw damage output. However, at high elo's the opposing team are smart enough to make switches and then that Zen is going to find himself in a whole lot of trouble which decreases the effectiveness of the comp. So it is only useful in certain situations and is not the best comp to be running if someone is wanting to play Zen. But you are mostly correct with what you are saying.

@@Dogeek This isn't higher elos, it's bronze. He says it himself repeatedly--once the enemy team starts outputting more damage, they'll get rolled because of their positioning and their lack of healing. I posted my comment knowing that would happen before the video even reached that point. The Mercy/Zen going into this match did not pick Mercy/Zen knowing the potential damage output that Mercy/Zen enabled, they picked Mercy/Zen because they wanted to play those characters. This is clear because even when their team was being rolled, they didn't realize that their hero picks were a major part of the problem and they stayed Mercy/Zen until nearly the end, where the Zen finally swapped to Mercy. The Mercy never once changed though. This thinking is why the Mercy is stuck in Bronze. Personally, I do like playing Mercy--she's not my main, but I like playing her. when I feel like I'm doing more healing than boosting, I immediately swap to a healer that fits the situation better.

the gameplay seemed a bit static, always looking at your beam target, rezzing as soon as anyone dies and unpolished movement. you should always have some kind of plan and save your rez for the proper target usually the tank or 2nd support because holding the line longer will allow your dps to come back in time usually since their walk speed is higher/movement abilities. the moira rez as jq was critical was a critical mistake pun intended because it was obvious jq was about to die and rezzing her instead of moira wouldve been the objectively better choice

I mean I dunno who told you that but no offense there is no way you are not bronze 5! I can name multiple mistakes/bad decisions in the first minute.

If that was a good game no wonder the mercy is hard stuck bronze.. using super jump on cd and being out of position beacuse of it like 80%. And 18k healing isnt that much for 25 minutes too. Not to mention Valk was most time used 1 second after Zen Ult..

no way a 30 minute game of mercy only gets 18k heals

@@admm7105 then you should know how to play mercy and wouldn't be whining about her heals. So much goes into healing numbers outside of holding healbeam down. Can't heal of the teammates dead, also can't heal if the enemy is dead and didn't get to do damage. Maybe you're just a healbot

if you wanna get out of bronze then dont play mercy lol
