a gazebo like building with walls and insulation but windows but not get too hot may be best from the dust they can generate, unsure on a greenhouse, in letting them be about, probably need to trim their flight feathers to not fly, but to hop xp many considerations. but basically, a bit detached from the house if possible, vs anything floating to the rugs and furniture, well, had a different type of parrot, but me and my dad were a bit concerned with the dust which seemed to be alive... so yea, less work on house upkeep is probably good.

@@safarygirl There are plenty of rooms, for the birds to have one with sunlight. But have to say Cornelia loves them and is protecting them the best she can, she feels her birds like herself, would rather be left alone. But even though they do need some light, and to see other birds out a window, perhaps, but she may know them better than we do, and am sure they could make alot of noise and also be dirty and take alot of cleaning behind them. I think keeping up what she is doing now is too much for her?

From the South Wales Argus: "In 2009, on the advice of Ruth Watson and Country House Rescue, Cornelia set up the ‘Friends of Plas Teg’ with a view to creating a charitable trust to help preserve, protect and promote Plas Teg. Alongside this, as part of Cornelia’s vision, the National Trust purchased the surrounding estate which included the parkland and walled garden, whilst Plas Teg and its contents are to be bequeathed to the National Trust by Cornelia on her death. In 2013, out of the ‘Friends of Plas Teg’, Love My Wales was founded and worked with Cornelia to develop her vision for the future of the house and garden to bridge the gap between the National Trust handover. To coincide with Cornelia’s 80th birthday in 2021, it’s name was changed to Plas Teg Trust".

That in fact is the key of where our own focus would be best served. For all those whom consider themselves so correct in their judgement are more correctly, following their "learned through influences (parents, schools, religions, government, and Mainstream News Medias), those "Society deems as what we are supposed to adhere to and What others think". Cornelia is a brilliant and cool woman, but she's too afraid to let people enjoy the house. She needs to open her mind and allow herself to relax around opening her home. It's the only way to let the home continue when she's gone. And I'm sorry people stole antiques. Put up cameras and remember, they are things. I know they are expensive and can't be replaced, however if that's ultimately, why you aren't keeping the house up and someone has an accident because of a faulty whatever, she stands to lose more. And the whole gas burner thing is just crazy! Modern space heaters with thermostats in the rooms she uses would be more effective and less expensive. Her eccentricities are stunting possibilities that could help her get what she actually wants, care of the house after she's gone.

Please,to everyone in contact with Cornelia, forward my compliments and greetings to her. I am astounded by the work she has completed. She built her own empire of beauty, culture, and magic., like I did. I enjoy what she achieved and admire her perseverance and dedication. I noticed she has a particular piece of art that I adore, since I have a copy of it as well; I won't mention what it is publicly, but it's another thing I like about her. Art is a type of coding, and we can understand each other through that. The only thing I would suggest is to keep the parrots in an area of the house with lots of plants and vibrant flowers, as they would enjoy it. Unfortunately, that is not their environment down there. Please convey my heartfelt congrats to her once more.

Although I've never worked in the UK and perhaps this is too remote to be feasible, but I'd expect to pay at minimum 5k per day for a location like this in Vancouver. I wouldn't even bat an eye if they asked for 25k.

Why doesn't the government come in, and offer something like a reverse mortgage? Cornialia could take the value of the property, and get a large sum from the lender with no payments due, and the house reverts to the lender/government when she passes. This would ensure the property is well cared for, and open for the general public to enjoy. Of course, the government of Wales would need to have a program to do this, but I can't see why they wouldn't want to save these houses as part of the general history of the UK. There would be a lot involved here to make sure the property is kept up, and not left to rot, but it could be done with the right program to save these old homes with emphasis on future tourism, and for general public interest. 😎👍✌

I so much enjoyed this video! Thank you for creating this piece for all of us to enjoy watching it. A woman of her age in a castle like that is remarkable and it fascinates me on how she has no fear on being alone and handles all the work herself. She's a wonderful human being and all those volunteers, God Bless them all! She represents, strength, courage and discipline to take that all on. I did feel bad for those birds, I hope they at least had windows for sun light but she does feed them and looks after them for years so it must be fine. I love the transformation that had occurred and she's a total gem, will always be herself and continue to do things that she loves to do with the help from others. It's a beautiful world when people help others!

yes, that is sad to hear. luckily someone else made a post here, that the house will be given to a non profit after her death, so hopefully it will be taken care of. if ruth still lives, she must be 83 years old by now, so i dont see her being with us for much longer, specially seeing her condition on the "filth" show. but who knows, she also seems resilient. the best thing i can hope for is that she finds peace in her latter years, and that the house and her cats are taken care of after she's gone.

@@heroedeleyenda05I've checked and there is no listing for Plas Teg now, probably because it's well & truly closed. I seem to remember they said it was closed for repairs or somesuch, so Trip Advisor assumed it would reopen once completed. When I looked through the photos & read the reviews, the place was vastly improved - still full of character pieces though - and most people had had a lovely stay; wowed by the place and happy with their accommodation and the food. Some picked up on cleanliness not being up to scratch and it certainly wasn't a patch on the swish wedding venue featured on the OCD cleaners video 'Filth' which brought me to this one. Like yourself I hope this place will be restored and taken care of and that she does indeed find peace. Resilient probably sums her up!

This is a copy/paste of a comment I made on this video (above) - I think the place went rapidly downhill after this, apart from the Sunday tours because I watched an episode of 'Filth' earlier titled 'Owner hasn't washed in 3 years'. This would bring us to 2013. The house looked very neglected and pretty filthy - rather like the grimy basins shown here. The people there, then had ideas for using it as a wedding venue and it seems, according to Trip Advisor, that it actually opened for staying guests alongside the guided tours. Reviews were good on the whole. Plas Teg apparently closed for repairs in 2022.... I do hope this beautiful building and its contents can once again be shown to the world. Cornelia is an amazing, albeit eccentric, lady and single-handedly has done wonders to keep this place going...

YES. I stayed in an incredible B&B guesthouse in Glastonbury last year and it was similar in that the owner was an avid collector; all things Gothic, mystical and Pagan. She used to live in London but moved to Glastonbury where she found a house large enough to accommodate all her many books, paintings, pictures, curios, stuffed animals, artifacts etc. It was stuffed to the gunnels (all cleaned and dusted though!) A veritable treasure trove of stuff. It too was haunted! Sadly the owner died about 3 and a half years ago but she'd arranged beforehand that her home could be used as a B&B. We could read the books, play the instruments, borrow the Tarot cards etc but everything had to be returned to its spot. Nothing could be moved... or sold.... as I discovered, when I offered to buy the walking staff I borrowed for my hikes. This lady's portrait hangs in the entrance hall above the piano. Plas Teg needs one of Cornelia.

Wonderful! It's been a year since I first watched this episode and I love to rewatch it from time to time, I think it's a work of art in itself. A magnificent tandem has developed between Cornelia and Ruth, since Mrs. Watson is not just a philistine businesswoman, but a rather sophisticated lady with an understanding of style and art who respects Cornelia and her work, and everything she says to her is aimed at helping, not reproaching. Madame Bayley sees this, therefore she listens to Ruth's advice and favourably appreciates her presence in Plas Teg.

Not sure what to think of this lady. Artistic, eccentric, sweet, kind. Her obsession with the house has saved it from ruin, but her obsessive behaviour has become a problem as evidenced by the way she keeps those poor exotic birds in a filthy dank cellar. She’s basically a very classy hoarder, and the kindness of volunteers, structured income and practical management by others are simply letting her continue her pathological behaviour. But I suppose first and foremost it’s HER house and she can live in it any way she wants to, and she doesn’t appreciate outsiders meddling with the way she keeps her own house. The only reason of course is the need for MONEY. Interesting unique story. I am impressed with all the loving and kind comments on this video.
