Just because she was most definitely unable to do what other kids usually are able to do, that teacher reminded her parents that she still needed discipline. @@Taxmandarmus if you've never worked with special-needs children you don't understand and you can't understand the level of challenges children have nor the level of patience that it takes to train them. It's not about rewarding bad behavior or challenging Behavior because if you don't know what he's diagnosed with you don't know how unless you worked with special-needs and clearly this Barber has that's how he knows to make the child comfortable by taking away the fear of what's being done to him and reassuring him that it's not going to hurt nor is he trying to hurt him. Some of my guys are autistic some have schizophrenia amongst other conditions and they're not all treated the same the training isn't the same. Some require a higher level of patience and training than others depending on the level and or the severity of their condition. It's not like they understand or can comprehend in most cases. But this gentleman opened up this barbershop for special needs because evidently he has some background and training maybe a family member or friend or just a heart of gold. i love the clear set of boundaries. understanding that the parents have the official say, but if the child continues to sit in the barbers chair then the child needs to listen to the barber. obviously this is to make sure things stay safe and instructions are clearly heard. but also so that the child can start to feel comfortable based on the direct communication, not confused by others input. he’s great.
Not all heros wear capes. He is a great man...
A polite way to say “shut up Dad, I’ve got this” 👏🏻

@Blueness1230how? I mean they need haircuts and as a person who has physical disabilities and has seen a lot of people with mental disabilities sometimes you need to force them to do needed things like bathing, getting a haircut and other basic needs. Even if their not in a state to understand or like these things they need to be done unfortunately.
teachers who work in special education need to see this. as someone who was put through that system for anger issues, seeing those who require genuine special needs be abused by teachers who hate their jobs broke my heart, but this guy loves what he does.

I think you missed the point that the child has special needs and mostl likely has a sensory disorder so he doesn't like the sensation of getting his hair cut. This is why learning about invisible disabilities is important so many special needs people and children get abused or neglected because people think they're simply misbehaving.
@hereweare9096
Жыл бұрын
I would disagree. The child isn’t misbehaving. People with disabilities react differently to things. It could have been the sound of the clippers. Or the feeling on his head. It took us years to get our son used to getting his haircut. We initially would cut his hair while he slept. We had to very very slowly introduce it. Now he can sit in the barber shop and have his hair cut. Parents know their special needs child the best. Being their for our children for reassurance is the just the same like any other parent would be for their child.
@SoCalJellybean

Yeah, you really need to educate yourself on special needs people and the challenges we face on a daily basis. This is NOT a misbehaving child, this is a child with sensory issues!

Nothing wrong with being rewarded for doing something.
@Momo-cd5pw
Жыл бұрын
@@joescheller6680There definitely is. I learned that early on. As a sibling with a brother with special needs you dont reward like that. Change is such a big deal for them. If you reward hitting, just to calm them down..its going to be a lot harder to change. The barber was right. There dosent need to be confusion..the less change the better in this situation. So the father and barber need the same plan.

@@joescheller6680depends on what you’re being rewarded for. Rewarding small things is how you can get entitled people who want participation trophies for doing the bare minimum. Bless your Heart. Most parents want their children to do their best to be on their best behavior in public. That isn't an uncommon wish, but it isn't a realistic request more than 1/2 the time. Children, special needs or not, need Adults who will give them grace, thoughtful correction, mentorship, guidance; in a protected space where they know they will be Loved even if they mess up or miss the mark from time to time. You keep providing that for your Child and like-minded people will support your lead and/or efforts. You must doing many things very well because your kindness is being reflected back to you wherever you go. Bravo ✊🏾💗
