This Made Our FAMILY | National Adoption Month |

Ойын-сауық

Today we share part of our adoption story. November is National Adoption Month so we want to spread awareness and encourage others to say YES! God doesn't call everyone to foster or adoption, but if He is calling you ANSWER THE CALL! Our family has truly been blessed by adoption. Maybe you aren't called to adopt, but there are still ways you can help. Cook an adoptive family a meal. Offer to babysit. Provided your local DHS organization with needed supplies. There are lots of ways to help. We hope you enjoy today's video. God Bless

I adopted my daughter 52 years ago, She was 7 days old when we got her out of the hos pital. She is a blessing in my life, she is not only my daughter but my very best friend and will some day be my caregiver. She works in that field now. Very proud of her.

A dear friend with three adopted children along with their own first born son said that somehow with love no one can tell the kids apart. And that seems to be the same with your family for Mazzy looks so much like Casie and wild child Ransom looks like his brother Ranger. Beautiful story but having watched your videos this year this story fits you so well. My brother in law until his recent death counseled older boys who had been in the system for years and became trouble makers. We’d take them in for days and weeks and special trips to amusement parks just to help them feel better and see a different way of acting. Some are adults and still come by to offer help and just say thank you. Our door was always open to any kid if they had issues at home but mainly for the ones who had attitudes and never adopted. Had we had more money when we were young we’d have had maybe twenty kids but instead we offered them some normal days and love and a place at our table. Our own kids came along and still we’d share our home especially at holidays where it meant so much to them to be in a home. I’d like to think we made a difference and sure enough many of them have families and reward us with visits and we will sit their little ones for a date night. The older kids have it so rough never being adopted and luckily our county has a program for the problem kids with counseling that we have helped for many years. They know that they have a home right here whenever needed even if we didn’t adopt them. Sure has helped me cus we’ve lost three of our own way too early in a tragic accident and with cancer. Those kids we helped and played with our own have been there through the worst times these past few years and call us mom and dad. There are many ways anyone who hears God calling out can help any child at any age. When ya hear a knock open the door and share your heart to anyone in need. It may be a child who is hurting and needs a hug. You may very well change their life forever. Even if you can’t adopt them a hug and an ear maybe just the thing to change their life. You both may not be through growing your family cuz it shows just how much you love your kids and the Lord. I do love watching all your videos and how you relate to your kids in such a loving way. This is a perfect way to celebrate all those little ones in need of a home. 😘😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My sons family adopted 2 boys years ago, Owen is 17 and Gabriel is 12. They are one of the best boys this grandma loves. My son and his wife are now head of an adoption problem in their church in South Carolina. They both have gone to Mexico and promoted adoption that way also. When they were in the adoption process, they had joy and heartache but they knew God had a plan and they would let Him lead. Lots of prayer. God ALWAYS comes through!

Well in 1974 when my twins were 15 years old we adopted a baby girl that was 4 months old. That baby girl was such a blessing and she is now 47 and still blessing me every day of the world. Pop passed away 6 years ago and she has really taken me under her wing and made sure that I was okay all along. Being an adoptive parent was quite an honor and if I was younger I would do it again. God bless you and thank you for your messages this is me from Oregon checking out.

Those kids are really blessed to have you as parents. I didn't think the tribes would not allow you to adopt children from a tribe unless you were a member of that tribe.

@@WalkerFarmFam Thank you for that. No it isn't. People have such a poor image of social workers, but don't realize everything required of us and the limitations we have to work within, not to mention the overwhelming caseloads we carry and the number of cases we have to manage. It's not for the faint of heart for sure. Thank you for the kind words.

That is so beautiful! I got my foster care license in 2004 so could bring my parent's foster daughter into my home. They were retiring from foster care and she and I had a great bond. She was placed with me in 2004 at the age of 14 and in 2006, when she was 16, I legally adopted her. We still have an amazing relationship and I have guardianship of her 8yr old son (by mutual agreement). I am so proud she has made the best choices for him as well as herself. I know it is hard for people to understand, but she absolutely has. We work together to co-parent him and I can honestly say that my life would be unbearable without them! I am a huge supporter of foster care and adoption. Thank you for giving Mazie such an amazing life, endless opportunity, and eternal love 💗💗💗

My Mom was a foster child back in the 30's her Dad fell out of a hospital window and died her Mother walked out on 7 kid's went from Indiana to Kentucky never looked back on any of them. After living in several different homes they placed her with a family who ended up being her Mother and Father for the rest of their lives. They took in over 800 kids some for a few days some like my Mom they stayed in their lives for their lifetime. They received awards for caring for so many children. They were a Christian family took all the kids under their wings told them about God took them to church. We prayed before every meal. They loved me just as if I was one of their biological grandchildren just like they did my Mom her sisters and brothers even though they didn't live with them they had them over for every holiday. Their house wasn't big but they had a full house every holiday I remember we sat in the hallway or on the beds if it was cold outside to eat our Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Sometimes there was 50+ people but everybody ate and everyone got a present. She started buying gifts in December for the next year that's exactly what I did every year for my 3 kids. I was a single Mom raising 3 girls on my own. I would go buy gifts 75% off every year toys or clothes the next size up or toys for the next age group. Whatever I had to do to make it work. Thanks for telling your story of giving your children a life. Know it's hard to take kids into your life i couldn't afford to do it first because I was raising kids on my own then when they were in middle school and high school I took in 5 kids for several years because their parents didn't treat them well. 3 stayed a year 1 stayed 3 years. I just couldn't watch them living the way they did. The girl lived in her car was 17. Her boyfriend abused her and her parents said she would have to sleep on the couch leave her stuff in the car have to change her clothes in her car because she didn't want anything in her house so she left and slept in her car for 6 weeks until I found out I told her it would be the last time she slept in her car she had a bed at my house and a place to put her clothes nothing like she was going through would ever happen again. The boys were treated really bad by different people in their families. They were friends of my kids so I took them in got another full-time job besides my other full-time job. I worked 16 hours then took on a 3rd job after my 2nd job. I worked weekends on my 2nd job so didn't work everyday 18 hours thank goodness. No sleep was hard on my body. The older kids took my kids to their after school activities. They cooked dinner for them helped with their homework anything else they were glad to do whatever they could. I was blessed to know I didn't have to worry about them. We were one big happy family in a little 3 bedroom house the boys slept in a back bedroom made from a old garage. They slept all on a king-size bed they slept crossways to have more room then I got a twin bed too so they had more room. If I could I would of had 20 kids. I love children. I have 11 grandkids now so grateful for all of them.❤🥰

You two humans are a true blessing! Our family has been blessed with adoption as well but on the other side of things!!! When Our oldest daughter was 19 and in her first year of college she found herself pregnant. She was very young and scared. She didn’t feel she could give her child the best life she deserved and she chose adoption. Not what we wanted but it was totally her decision and choice to make. I hated it at first and then I met the adoptive parents to be and was totally in love with that family! She chose open adoption so we see our granddaughter about every 3-4 months and she calls us grandma and grandpa and calls our daughter mommy Taylor because that’s her name! It she knows that she grew in mommy Taylor’s belly and in her mommy and daddy’s hearts! They are being as honest with her about it all! Anyway I just love you and your family! And your family story puts a smile on my heart big time! Thank God for humans like Gary and Cassie! Keep up the good work with those little ones and your farm and keep those fabulous videos coming❤️❤️❤️

I was blessed to be adopted as an infant 63 years ago by the most wonderful godly couple. I had birth defects in my spine (scoliosis) and my legs were backwards. Those wonderful people took me to doctors and I grew up to be independent and strong and work hard. I still have some back issues but I won't stop even when it hurts because it has become arthritic. About to start my homestead journey on raw land by myself (widow) and I can't wait to see what else I can accomplish with the Lord's help. Thanks Mom and Dad!💖 God bless the Walkers!

Love your story!!! You are incredible people with a lot of love to give. I would like to mention that there are many orphanages out there that have older children that need a good stable home as well. Even though my husband and I have never adopted we have always supported the orphanage here in Denver for many years. It is near and dear to our hearts and they can also use financial, volunteer work on the building and help in so many other ways. By the way, I noticed your Colorado ZK plate on the wall. the ZK stood for Gilpin County which is just west of Denver in the foothills. At one time Gilpin was known for their gold mining and the small towns of Blackhawk and Central City were larger than Denver during the gold rush. I lived in Blackhawk in the mid-'70s and every summer we would have a parade through the county with our ZK plates on our vehicles. What fun we had!! Seeing that plate brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you. God bless

We adopted our youngest, she was an older child and had health issues. We knew that God had sent us to her and her to us. We were able to provide her with a stable and secure home life as she grew up. Many people forget about the older children that need a home, especially those that have special needs. No matter where her life takes her she will always be my little girl.

Love your kids. So blessed. We tried to adopt early in our marriage but back then in our area it was all about the money, not the love. We went on to have 2 sons whom gave us a grandson and granddaughter. Almost 18 years ago a couple came to our church with 2 little girls and one on the way. 1st Sunday they were there the little 18 month old came running to my husband yelling “grandpa “ of course our hearts melted. Come to find out these little girls had NO grandparents. So they became our by-choice grandkids. We now have 4 by-choice granddaughters a by-choice great grandson and by-choice great granddaughter. I know it isn’t the same but these kids are as much our grands as our bio-grands. Isn’t always blood. Bless you for following God’s leading.

I am an adoptive Mommy to 3 half bio siblings. I have had each one since birth.. My oldest is now 9, a 2 yo and my baby just turned 6 months. All 3 were born early 4.10 lbs 18" , 5.1 17"and the newest 2.15 and 14 " long. They all 3 went thorough withdraw, its been a journey. But they are our babies, GODS PROMISES FULFILLED! I didn't carry them in my womb 9 months but I did carry them in my heart for YEARS, I didnt go through physical labor and delivery but I assure you I labored for years and went through delivery. The things Moms get to experience, feeling the babies move, how they ball up, those jerks from the womb, I didnt miss out on either, I was blessed to WATCH the things Birth Moms only get to feel. My babies are perfect. They have each had a journey, but I have been blessed to walk every step with them from the moment they entered this world. If anyone out there is thinking of adoption, PLEASE, be the Mommy and Daddy these little ones need and God intended. Thank you Walker Farm Fam... You have touched my heart so much!! Love you guys to pieces!! Sorry so long, I had to share a little of my story. Adoption is such a gift! OK those of you feeling that tug from God, go get your babies!!! Be Blessed all! Off to hug on my babies!!!

Thank you so much for sharing. I had no idea 2 of your kids were adopted! Many years ago (I'm 73) I had to give a baby boy up for adoption. My heart was beyond repair for years. After he graduated college I received word that he was looking for me. I was so excited. His adopted Dad was a Minister and his Mom a school counselor. He stopped contact and I wrote to his parents. He was fine and started on a good future. They told me what a blessing he had always been and thanked me for such a wonderful boy. I shared this beautiful letter through my tears with my Dad who was in his 80's. It gave me the closure I needed knowing he had 2 wonderful parents that loved and raised him. I knew finally that I had done the right thing. I have never heard from my son again but God watches over him. Bless your family!
