Smudo didn't realize he was a ranch dog until he tried it. He's a good boy.

i highly HIGHLY recommend getting a small child's pool for Smudo and fill it with about 50mm of water. basically just enough water to submerge his paws. he will loooooooove it and he may only just stand in it for a few minutes at a time, but its an absolute necessity for the summer where your shop is. it will basically make it impossible for Smudo to overheat. just make sure the pool you get has a thick bottom so his claws don't instantly destroy it and then you have to lead him in the first time to he knows what it is. you can also spend a bit more can get a cooling pool made for dogs which will have a much thicker rubber bottom.

Finally made it to a premier, so much has happened! relocation / got married / have a baby / now a saw mill! Congrats all round, so happy for ya!

I could never justify a full bandsaw mill, but that chainsaw mill is amazing!

Seeing you sit there with the cactus just makes me smile. No clue why.

Im sure everyone had a great time but I do have to point out how funny it is that you were like "hmm my employees must be really stressed out from 2 years of building my house. I'll treat them to a fun retreat where we will build me a different house" :P

the cutting everything with shrinkage in mind is SO CLEVER and with a saw mill of your own I can't wait to see what you use these new techniques you're picking up for! Also congratulations on the baby, marriage, relocation and AND the progress you've made with the house! I know you're burnt out but that doesn't discount the MASSIVE amount of work you and your team have done to it and the results you've managed to achieve!

The Logosol experience was totally captivating, and such an amazing treat for all of you. I love watching House Lise Lotte, but the new chapter of your life that you and your family are so kind and generous to share with us is so exciting! You will enjoy having the sawmill. Opens up so many more opportunities. I have even used mine to cut joinery for furniture. Next you will want a solar kiln for drying hardwood. It should work amazing in SoCal.

Totally not surprised you were captured by the utility of portable mills, both bandsaw and chainsaw. It is so gratifying to put logs to use, especially when you can find local sources of free timber. I’ve acquired cherry logs and built furniture from them. (proper drying of planks was required for fine furniture…a little different than rough projects. Of course Logosol made joining-technique allowances owing to wood drying/shrinking dynamics.)🎉 Congrats on your new mill in California!

A great video. Please remember when you and Smudo are outside, of the large number of venomous snakes in the California desert. They blend in with the surroundings and are very dangerous!

I feel like there should be a PSA about the heat for Germans who come to California. You need to go to Olivera Street, Santee Alley, Chinatown, or any local swap meet and get yourself a classic SoCal lifegaurd hat. And always carry water on you during the summer which sometimes rolls into November.
