The SMF has become my top folder, everything you need and nothing you don’t 👍

Emtek door-knob hardware, never heard of the knife company. I’ll have to check it out. I only have two Striders, a MSC NM RR and my SMF DGG pre-RW. Got them both back in 2001. I’m a carpenter and I use my SMF for opening boxes/packages to cutting caulked-shut windows and prying open the window with the blade. Haven’t broken it yet. They are built like tanks.

For me the Strider SMF is one of the most balanced knives ever built. Great blade performance, great feel in the hand, and just an overall hard use tool of a knife!

I love strider knives! I also have quite a few Striders that I regret getting rid of such a TAD gear SMF CC with a digi cam harpoon blade. It was so damn smooth, quick and cut so well. I similarly took a break from knives for a few years and came back but started with nothing to build my collection again. I used to have close to a hundred knives like Spyderco quality and up to some customs. I only really need a handful of knives today or just want to limit it to a handful. I am lucky I own a custom SMF groot handle finish with a nightmare grind blade as a grail for everything I owned and miss. I got two other current production sng’s, 2010 sebenza 21, 2008 zaan, Emerson vines and roses cqc 12, pm2 in jungleware fat carbon fiber M4 blade, and a ti fluted military to go with my collection.

I have two Strider folders left, a very old plain tiger stripe SnG, and an old school Ranger Green double gunner grip SnG, CC profile... I have an old school cord wrap DB-L as well. I've had lots of Striders in the past, love them.

Man i look back at some of my old Striders i sold many years ago. So wish I had kept them all.

I have the same config sng except the g10 is black and the steel is psf27. i really love the flamed and tiger striped look! It was my first real Strider i picked up maybe a year ago and stays in the EDC rotation. Pretty sure i watched some of your videos at the time while researching them. Prior to that i had a Buck Strider and a Protech SNG to get a taste of the styling but the real deal framelock is much nicer! Congrats on the score!

You're right That Spanner pivot is different I got mine from the Mothership a few months ago and it's the OG style that GG pattern is the style they use on the G10 they still do the old style cylindrical on the aluminum That's also why it's reversed so they have something to screw into the barrels on the G10 side 👊🏼

Great video! Glad you are back. It took me 8 years to finally work up the courage to spend so much money on a strider but i got an smf and absolutely love it. How do you find out about the drops? I got mine on the secondary.

FYI Strider was black listed back around 2013ish. They were dropped by everyone from 5.11, Protech and were cut out of a few government contracts. They were denied access to a few blade shows and a bunch of online retailers stopped ordering from them. Mick had exaggerated some of his past specifically military background and it really hurt him.

I’ve got my first SnG coming and it’s in this configuration but with CTS-XHP steel. I went with the SnG because it appears to be roughly the same size as a large Sebenza which is my current edc. Is this the case? I’d hate to get the knife and wish I went for an SMF.
