Sorry mate but, what are you doing! As an owner of a r1250rs, I always thought it was water cooled, definitely not air and oil! Also, you don't knock the throttle off when changing up, it's fitted with a quick shifter, always keep the throttle on. Hopefully this tip will help you get more enjoyment from the ride.

I just test drove one and really enjoyed the experience. Seating position is more like my R100S and is overall more similar to that airhead than a 2017 GS I had. Agree with the relaxed comment - it’s fine for puttering around town, but it can perk up and grab some corners. That wide “user band” is what stood out to me. Brakes are fantastic, motor is smooth, powerful. Overall impressions match the commentary here.

I absolutely adore my RS in Austin Yellow. With 90% of my miles being back road/ highway commuting, it does everything I could ask. Coming from a S1kXR it feels like home, but a bit more mature.

The bike is very attractive but, what repels me is BMW’s honeypot “packages” and dealer installed accessories. Reminds me of someone who loved me so much she couldn’t wait to change me.

My first liter bike was a 2011 R1200r Classic. After moving on to several S1000xr models I felt the old boxer had a lot more character and a much visceral feel to it. Currently waiting on my 2024 and honestly I have never been able to purchase a bike w/o pretty much the full option list this time (Triple Black) this time. I agree the low seat actually makes rides over two hours down right painful as my legs seem to be folded tightly underneath me. I am 5' 11" and 175lbs so I would say the standard or even the Sports seat option is a better choice.

I enjoyed your initial review. I just purchased the triple black a few weeks ago, and I love it. I made a few adjustments because I am 5' 7". I initially went with the lower seat but hated it. So, I went back to the standard. I have ordered a bar back, to make it a little more comfortable and an Akrapovic slip-on. I can't wait to get them installed.

HI I just purchased this bike a few weeks ago and love it. I am about your height and decided to stay with the stock seat and I am glad that I did. A sporty bike for me needs to sit in that way for a nimble ride. I purchased my bike and it had the tubular bars on it. At first I thought that I would not like it but glad that stayed with it. How do you like your bike now?

Good review! I have been on the fence about this bike for some time and have not been able to pull the trigger. I use to have a R 1100RS and it was one of the best bikes I ever had. I sold it because after years of riding it I wanted something lighter etc. I regretted it later and have never been able to find anything like it. I assume this bike is an evolution of what I had at that time but more sporty now. I have mixed feelings because I do not ride the distances that I use to but I like a lot of things about this including the shaft drive. So, I will stay tuned to your videos and we will see. BTW, what kind of gloves are you riding with I like them. Who is the manufacturer? Thanks

I did a test drive this bike a couple of days ago. This is the bike I was dreaming on for years, but I wanted to test it anyway. I had it for about 3 hours, the bike it has standard bars. I really liked the engine, it's pretty fast, torquy, as you said, is very elastic, nothing bad about that, only good thing, I absolutely loved it! What I didn't liked much was the riding position, I own an F800R and riding the R1250RS is worse. The position is less crouched, but more leaning forward, this caused me pain in the lower back and wrists, in some cases numbness in the hands, and in general pain in the arms up to the trapezius and shoulders. I don't think you can ride for too long with a setup like that. Maybe the tubular handlebar can improve the situation, but I don't think it can work miracles. For this reason I don't think is the bike for me, and I'm really sorry for that.

I am looking at trading my S1000RR and have been thinking about this. I just wish I could get the engine and chassis without all the tech crap. Just good suspension, a rain mode and ABS and steam gauges. I really don't care for all of the tech. Yet most people love it. I guess Im odd, but I'd love to actually know how truly useful it is to people.

I had a 2021 r1250rs in gold for a time. Definitely a unique ride. Tons of controllable torque but it wasn’t for me. A few downsides for me was the screen, though adjustable, was still piss poor to me. Seat gets hard after an hour or so. Boxer sound is uninspiring to me. It’s a great bike but it’s a little bland. More touring than sport.

Bike is “heavy”? Compared to what? What’s comparable? The Moto Guzzi V100 is 25lbs lighter but In scheme of things that’s not much. I could stand to lose a few pounds, so that could help. Never buy new! You can find very slightly used loaded up RS’s for $16k or less (meaning bags).
