THIS JUST CAME OUT!!! VoicePlay - Sleeping In The Cold Below (reaction)

My first time reaction to "Sleeping In The Cold Below" WARFRAME A Cappella VoicePlay Ft. Omar Cardona
Shoutout to @ronsbrat525 who commented one of my videos notified and recommended to react to me this release!
In this stunning a cappella arrangement Voiceplay performed 'Sleeping In The Cold Bellow', the main song from soundtrack for game Warframe.
They managed to not only recreate the futuristic and tribal atmosphere, but as always added freshness and new spin to their cover.
And the beatbox... Wow!
Enjoy my first time music reaction video!

I think one of the best things about VoicePlay is that they aren't beholden to a label. Being independent means that they can indulge all their own creativity without the restrictions that a label might put on them. They get to be fantastic theater kids and they get to show off their talents and showcase each other with their arrangements. They're all so great: Layne with his "I swallowed a drum kit" beatboxing, Geoff with his earthquake bass notes, Eli with his stellar rock tenor, Cesar with his sweet voice and sassy attitude... And all the others who have come through their group as long term members or features. They all work so well together and they have so much fun doing it. I'm glad you found them and can join us in our enjoyment!

@@FaanaMusic I know that 2 or 3 of them are gamers, so there's that. When they ask for suggestions from their patrons the requests range from music from the 50s and 60s (me) to new stuff I've never heard of. They worry about song choice almost more than anything else. Will the fans like it? will it draw in new people?

@@FaanaMusic Geoff uses instruments in his solo videos so it's not fully a capella, he also "clones" himself, and each clone has their own voice, personality, etc, he even named them for fun in his "Way down" Elvis's cover. Layne and Eli often help him with filming.

What I love about VoicePlay is exactly that they combine very good, complex arrangements with very good voices, but at the same time with interesting visuals as well. A VoicePlay video (at least the ones with more action within) for me works both on a visual and an acoustic level. Songs for which this worked very well (for me) are their postapocalyptic trilogy ("Warriors", "Dream on", "Seven Nation Army" - in order of appearance) and also some of their gaming-related stuff like "The Dragonborn comes". On the other hand - if they are just sitting somewhere, singing, it's also fun. So... to me they are always a treat for my ears. :)

Oh, my friend! Let me say, I've been a Voiceplaya for years, and they NEVER don't surprise you! They're always upping their game! (Pun intended.) Great reaction! You should check out some of their older stuff, like when Tony and Earl were in the group. Glad you enjoyed this, it's totally COSMIC! For me, Omar is pretty much an honorary member of the group now, and when Cesar, Eli and Omar get going, it leaves you gaping. I think we all are eager for J. None to come back officially, but I wouldn't be unhappy in the also brought Omar in, in full time, too! Though frankly, they're so good at picking guests, they've only ever had one guest singer (no, I won't say who) I wouldn't be happy to see in the group. DeeJay Young (who toured with the show Hamilton) would also be very high (again, pun imtended, hopefully you'll get it when you watch one of their videos with him) on my list. Like "Bang!" or "Butter." Oh! I have something I want to ask you, but it's a bit personal...is there another way to contact you, aside from the comments?

I think it would be fun if you reacted to some of their shorts. Voiceplay does fun shorts, usually filmed in the shopping mall attached to their studio (if I ever go back to Orlando, I’m totally stalking that mall! haha). You could do several shorts in one reaction video (like the two sea shanty videos back to back). The reactors all seem to overlook the Shorts.

So much cool stuff in this one! I'm undecided whether they are meant to be Space Pirates or more Space Shipping, but I really love the way it ends on that White Background. It is almost as if they are dreaming it all together in the Cryogenic Sleep. And I love that we got a taste of Omar's more 'rock' voice. VoicePlay has not utilized that as much before. Even in "Carry On Wayward Son", it didn't have quite the 'belt' feel that parts of this did. Of course, we are most of us used to hearing it from Eli, but his rock belt moment here was wonderful as always. Layne's beats really set it as a Bop! But I also liked that tonal moment he had that seemed a bit reminiscent of R2D2. Cesar's tone in his solo was quite rich and gave it heft. And lastly with Geoff's 'shanty-like' beginning and his almost rap-feeling last lines, I still had a very visceral reaction to that 'Wuh!'. As if it will now become an exclamation of strong emotion. And yes - Keep It Funky!

That screenshot of the game was useful. Geoff did the arrangement with Rob Deitz who also did We're Good (Cesar's introduction to VoicePlay, where we fell in love with him). I'd be interested if you compared the arrangements from both. I think some of the photos in the background are from the Hubble and Webb telescopes. Layne's gloves disappeared and reappeared as they were needed, maybe he had a transponder to instantaneously move from his hands to his pockets. I thoroughly enjoyed the driving music and it had some of the characteristics of a sea shanty which I suppose works for those on spaceships. My husband used to go out in the back fields with camera, telescope, and computer taking photos of Orion's Nebula, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury crossing the sun, Tarantula, 7 Sisters, Heart and Soul galaxies, any galaxy or nebula that would hold still for him.

@@FaanaMusic Most of the graphics seem to be graphic "animated" renditions based either on real observations or elaborations thereof. There's even a supermassive black hole (in the original video it kicks in at 1'00")! But some of the images ain't no real footage of space, like when there are all the "asteroids" or whenever the things in the background are moving, and the faster they move the more likely they are to be CGI renditions. 😅 Probably, there's also stuff from the game itself. I dunno, not a gamer, but I think it's likely. 🙂

I agree, especially about the comment that different reactors catch different things. I don’t have any musical training and I do have trouble processing auditorily. I hear fine it just takes longer from my brain to process things when they are heard rather than viewed. So when someone who can catch those things quickly and points them out, I get a whole new appreciation for what they’ve done.
