Its so cool that a jet with no flares and subpar missles can fight planes that can roflstomp you if they just kamakazie into you with their aim9L with ease, it doesn't seem to be a win for anyone other than some points for the a10/su25

Having played about 200+ games in the a-10a (7 year vet don't @ me) I've run into a collective total of about 10 downtiers low enough to see demons. Tbh the mig with r3rs is a bigger pain in the ass to get uptiered against because you should only be up high with those missiles.

That moment when the AIM-7C literally has less ΔV than an AIM-9B -_-. In order for them to have even a *chance* of having enough energy to intercept the target you have to be at least like 5000m up to avoid the missile drag nerfs which hit the AIM-7C *hard*

Weren’t the missile drag nerfs only with induced drag, not parasite drag? In which case, higher altitude would hurt it even more because the IAS is lower.

missiles aside the flight model of this plane is very weird. the loss of speed in turns is high, kind of like a mig 21, but once a wing panel gets damaged, the plane turns into a huge airbrake. a couple of times i ve had airframe damage (parts of wings orange or red but still intact) with engine providing full thrust and i stalled because of the drag. this is the only plane i ve noticed to do this

Javelin does this as well. You just can't make it back to base with wing root damage, it instantly drops out of the air like there just aren't wings attached, despite the wing surfaces appearing intact save for a couple of cannon shell holes

Gaijin sucks ass at modeling the damage and aerodynamics of planes. One time I was in the a10 and my wing got clipped by 1 20mm, and the plane started to pull left really hard and it couldn't turn properly.

I noticed a bug with Demon, when you do hard turn, repeatedly extending and retracting leading edgeg slats (that act as a flaps) somethat reduces your turn time, as if your slats pulling you inside turn.

The missile knows where it is - purely because i always leave it behind in the hangar - at all times

I had great success with the missile against drones in GRB. It's about the most effective thing I've used against them at that BR range since they're generalLee too small and too cold to kill reliably with guns or IR missiles.

But it happens within 2km，aim9c may shot out beyond that range and much more manuverable, so aim7c is just a solution of 9.3

Ive enjoyed this jet when I got it. I used it quite extensively. I rocked x2 AiM-9s and x2 AiM-7 I used thr AiM-7 on people who tried to run or out climb me while dropping flares.

So, in my time with the aim7c, I’ve gotten a good plenty of kills, but I feel like that’s mainly people not expecting to see a missile while going head on with a demon from 5-6 km away. Between realistic and arcade battles, it has been feeling pretty nice, and there have been times where it has noticed chaff and then redirected to another aircraft.

Turns tight but bleeds speed faster than a BV238. Sustained dogfighting is out of question

Tip for dodging strela or chaparral missiles is to keep perpendicular to the direction where its coming from and to force it to climb and then to make a dive before it hits you and usually it wont have the energy to keep up with you. Obviously you have to pay attention to enemy spawn and watch for missile contrails

Easy enough to dodge the MIM-72's, but god damn the strela is near impossible to dodge without flares, they can also do really close range shots cause of the seeker being able to uncage to near 90°, whereas the Chap is caged(pain)

If anyone needs BVR tips: Before I rant I’ll say the 7C’s are essentially slightly guided rockets and I hate to love them. Lets begin. This scenario is for BVR fighting a single target at 10km+. My recommendation for the 7C’s is to go into battle at around 3000-3500 meters, as long as you’re fast and below the contrail level. Smallest scope FOV, 93km scope scale (This concentrates the radar beam and gives a slightly stronger lock since the radar cone at 20km+\- is narrower at 93km scope scale than it is at 19km scope scale. Level fly until you see enemy climber contrails, lock them up, I try to get locks above 20km away so I can gauge their flight path (speed difference, pitch, course corrections etc). Now from 20km to about 10-12km is an essential part of using 7C’s, everything has to be set. (Ideally, they aren’t chaffing at 20km, and they don’t react too much to being locked, A lot of people ignore hard locks at this BR, at this distance, for reasons I’ll explain***) Use your radar to directly intercept the flight path of the target, the little line connected to the green circle should be pointing DIRECTLY down. This means if neither of you change course you will directly intercept based on all positions besides altitude. If everything goes right, and you’re leading your target adequately, the aim7C can reliably launch on and kill approaching targets at around 14-10km depending on how high you are. I’ve never gotten a 7C kill that was over 14km. I’m pretty sure the missile self detonates due to guidance time. Now, this is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THIS ALL: 1) In a head on, never fire a sparrow closer than 10km. A maxed crew can spot missile and rocket diamond indicators at 8km. If you fire before 10km, the motor burns out before 8km, making it so that they never see the diamond. 2) use sparrows at contrail altitude! Contrails will HIDE your missile trail if the missile is launched in line with the planes trajectory. The motor time is so short, even someone looking directly at you will miss it 99% of the time because of the distance. Make sure to loft a bit for longer shots. 3) be your own bait! Nose up even more and fly above your missile! If you do steps 1 and 2 correctly. There’s no logical reason for an a enemy radar enjoyer to break off. (BVR at 9.3 doesn’t exist right?***) So climb higher. Above your missile. Give them the juiciest radar target they’ve ever seen. Irresistibly high target perfect for an R3-R right? As soon as they prime their missile and prepare to launch at 4-6km, they explode. All that being said, this plane is very complex and misunderstood. And it holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of the only planes I can have real fun in these days because everyone thinks is really bad, but it’s actually amazing, just compressed to all hell. The depth to this plane is overshadowed by the CoD style, get in get out gameplay of most WarThunder jet matches.

I flew this thing before the A-10 apocalypse and absolutely loved it. The sparrows are kind of a meme now. People would totally underestimate this thing in a dog fight and head on and were often easy kills.

I ot to throw some hands for that title.

Back in the day with smaller matchmaker this thing got downteired all the time and was a menace even with the 7C's, nowadays it's real rough to fly and you're better of with the 4 9B's

somehow, a sparrow was made that is worse than a MCLOS missile and a 9c, AND a 9b all at the same time

This is one of my favourite planes in the game and despite the uptiers and the bad missiles, i have fun flying it quite alot

I use them to Deny the A-5Cs the Altitude advantage. though I wish it had the aim-9C instead.

This thing is the bane of A-5Cs' existence. The A-5C compresses so hard that if it goes faster than 800kph it cannot actually dodge the Aim7C, and they never take chaff because they get only 18 countermeasures. Like you said, if you take this to altitude against A-5C, they're toast.

the F3H2 might be dogshit, it's missiles might be the worst. But being able to kill people from 3km away while they're stall fighting is so efficient. More than having to spend 30 seconds rating an enemy on the vertical like it's the case of the F-104 or the MiG19.

what do you have there to see MiG-17PF rather than Lim-5P, i would like to have hte same there but idk what it is

So basically this variant of the sparrow along with the AIM-7E's are pretty useless to use in long range? Man, and then there are some former friends that pretends it's a long range missile. *sigh* "BUT IT PULLS 15 OR 25G's SO IT MUST BE GOOD" yeah no, frankly, trusting the stat card on the early models isn't really recommended. If any missile radar Missile I'd use around 9.0 - 10.3 , it would be the matra 530 even if it can get chaffed easily, but the longer burn time is so much better.

Issue is not just the missile but also a garbage radar that constantly loses lock. I wish they would give it a beamriding version as alternative. Swift f7 does great with those.

What if you just drop the thing from low earth orbit? The altitude should translate into speed to counteract the laughabke burn time

@@GeneralLee2000 well since you can't shotgun people with it like you can with the R3Rs, and it can't turn like a 9L, you have to rely on stealth. People never look up, so if the radar isn't total garbage looking at the ground, maybe upper atmosphere could work instead of orbit

Nah, the radar picks up way too much ground clutter to use pointing down. I also can’t get the radar to lock below like 2000m

i have been testing with this jet if you use mighty mouse missles they work as perfect makeshift flares

Its quick and nimble, give it some slightly better missiles or even just countermeasures and it'll be goated

Its funny that the Vautour 2N late has 4 Matra R511 SARH missiles at 8.7

HA... Aim7Cs... I think I can recall one time where in one match I got 2 out of 2 kills with them with the Demon I keep trying to make them work but when you're a jet numpty like me, by the time I fumble around with the radar, I've put myself in a terrible spot😂 Any chance we can see some F2 Sabre now that the 20s work relatively well?

I love this thing in sim battles though, the missile is definitely close range but once its done burning it can pull quite the amount of Gs. The plane is also capable of taking MiG-21s in a dogfight. By far my favorite plane in the US arsenal!

It’s was more due to the fast advancement of technology in the 50s that the Demon was replaced quickly. Which wasn’t really a fault of the plane.

I mean, if you're really basing this off of in-game performance, then the F-4C is an even sadder plane to fly than the demon. Being 10.0 with no countermeasures, bad missiles and unable to turn, it's just food for anything with a good AAM.

@@dreamhackian4864 You sure those aren't old stats? Cause rn it's just not worth flying. Having no flares, mid missiles and a mid airframe at 10.0 really doesn't make for a good plane. I'd much rather fly the mig-21MF/SMT. Just 0.3br and you get a significantly nicer airframe, 4 30g missiles and 64 countermeasures. The Hunter F58 is significantly better, and at a lower br.

@@jojomaster7675really sounds like a skill issue. Don’t treat it like a regular plane, use the fact that you have sparrows to your advantage l as he said, climb and be above Mach one, also you can “flare” front aspect missiles with 1 set of 3 FFAR pods, worked well for me!

this missile is far from useless, on the f8e (chadsader) it works wonders. i think its an issue of the platform being slower and having a worse radar causing you these issues. the missile is a look up missile only so you fire and then drop altitude to keep a good lock.

real shatter ruined early jets :( the japanese at least are unplayable the 30mm used to one shoot now its like 7 at least and the 30mm has a super low firerate so its real hard to hit

The video I made on the f3h was pure pain

OK after I've spaded this thing: missiles are really bad but mostly because your radar is really crap. You have no shoot down ability so your target has to be above you and not too close. If he's coming into you fast there is a good chance missile won't be able to pull much cause this missile needs a time to start pulling as per stat card. In short you need pretty ideal situation and the target that flies relatively steadily. This never happens. I've taken them to 20 battles and I've got like 3 kills. Yea, they really suck.

You’re just not using them right. You have to get close to an enemy, jettison your aim7c’s and surprise the enemy with your improved flight performance.

Esses misseis são realmente inúteis, mais pesados e mais difíceis de usar do que os misseis AIM 9B, que já são bastante inúteis...
