Gold. USA has a lot of good talent, but many are past their primes, and who is scoring in the paint against France? The huge problem is Wemby, guarding the three point line, and go ahead and drive past him, Wemby AND Gobert will meet you in the paint. Wemby shuts down pick and rolls, the two of them stop drives to the basket, and the USA is left chucking up mostly contested threes and long twos. Meanwhile, you see how easily Wemby scores, and sets up Gobert for easy dunks and other teammates for open threes.

I really like the combo of Wemby and Gobert. Normally two bigs means you have poor spacing and questionable perimeter defence, but Wemby solves both those problems.

Lessort is also a Euroleague champ with Panathinaikos. While Gobert and Wemby get a lot of hype (rightfully so), the backups are nothing to scoff at as Yabusele and Lessort are some of the best 4-5 in the euroleague

As a French i can say that a medal is hard to get. Even if we have good players, it does not mean that we will win something. it's the players themselve that write their on story. Good luck to all the team for the olympic ^^

He was looking to get his teammates more involved, which is exactly what Jokic does plenty of times. Jokic averaged 33.5, 10.3, 8 with 1 stl and 1,3 blocks against the Spurs in the season on super efficiency! Aside from 4-5 blocks that Wemby got on the Serb, Jokic absolutely DESTROYED him! Gobert didn't steal anything. He was a far better defender for the whole season not just parts like Wemby. Plus Goberts team was by far the best defensive team in the NBA. It's hilarious how people think Gobert isn't a hugh part of that. In the 2 seasons he has been there they have went from the 20's to the best. Keep sleeping and acting a fool

This team will never gel, too many generals and not enough soldiers. Most of the players are pretty down to earth and those who werent( kyrie and draymond) didn’t make the team. Plus lebron is a natural leader who has gotten many teams to work together over his time as a player, not to mention the legendary coaching staff that will also help with Steve Kerr, one of the greatest offensive minds ever, who was already able to get a similarly star studded team to work together, and Erik Spoelstra, who’s teams always play incredible defense, and he is able to get a lot out of mediocre players. Not to mention the actual defensive players on the team are top class and better than anything that France could bring up. Also there is a huge mismatch in the guard positions, with USA having some of the best guard ever and France having no one

I was in the Lanxess Arena at the Game vs Germany and i was shocked how much better Wemby just was then the rest. No disrespect to my germans, but they had no chance and a missmatch straight out of hell. The combination with Gobert was really good and a solid 5 would work wonders for the Spurs.

Germany was playing without Franz & Mo Wagner, no Theis and no Thiemann. Means Germany missed all their length in the frontcourt. Wemby was still a beast though and he will be a heavy task for opposing coaches. The fact the FIBA courts are slightly smaller and there´s no 3 sec rule makes it even more challenging against Rudy and Wemby

I really hope the french squad takes gold in the olympics to wake the USA up. We are playing crappy basketball. The rules and officiating are ruining the sport, and the DIVA "superstars" and constant trades with no team continuity. Also it should be mandatory on olympic years that the NBA champions represent USA in the olympics. If they dont they should get hefty fines and penalties.

if embid (mvp couple years back) joins gobert (current dpoy) and wemby (roy) - just those three will create matchup problems that may give them room to actually beat team usa... damn, can't believe i just typed that but it's true!

As a german i have to say victor and team france outclassed us, but tonight will be the real test as the wagner bros are set on playing and theis is supossed to be back for the olympics aswell. Our big men were not our best lineup to be honest.

France didn't secure Embiid but they have another tank in the name of Yabusele, 6.7 ft so slightly shorter than Joel but an absolute unit. You could also add De Colo who was twice EuroLeague MVP in 2016 and 2019, scary roster I tell you!
