Support for Palestinians is not support for Hamas. Stop conflating the two. What Hamas committed was an atrocity that should absolutely be condemned, but so too should be the IDF's wanton slaughter of innocent Palestinian civilians and the leveling of their homes. It is neither justice nor revenge. If the Israeli do not exterminate Hamas, this will repeat itself over and over, with both sides losing people. They HAVE TO continue, and they are trying to avoid hitting people... but they are not going to withhold a missile simply because Hamas uses its own people as meat shields. The Israeli gave people 2 days to move away from Hamas but many refused to go... so when the bombs come they are of course hit. The blame goes on Hamas and civilian stubborness, it would only go on Israel if they intentionally fired a civilians without a Hamas target underneath.

@@jjohnson796 Incorrect. I was on both sides of the Israeli-Arab situation in1968 - a year after the 6 Day War. From kibbutz to Bedouin camp to being in Egypt under Soviet support (the only movies in Cairo were Russian military propaganda). What I saw is that normal, everyday people live on both sides. Extremists always take advantage of this, twisting it to their agenda. The history of this region is far more nuanced and complex than ignorant statements. I'm not an academic, but I submitted Middle East policy speech suggestions to the Kerry campaign - some minor parts that ended up in Obama's Cairo speech (no cause and effect implied, just that I'm a bit more knowledgeable than the casual news watcher. My father was an expert in the region since WWII (as war correspondent, then foreign correspondent for major U.S. publication), and one of the things he told me as a kid then was to not have tunnel vision on issues. Meaning the big picture matters. And because of that, simplistic slogans or perspectives don't tell the whole truth. In this case, both Israel and the Palestine have rights, and both are responsible for it all. Untying the decades of knots - especially missed opportunities to truly live-and-let-live will take time, patience and humility. We humans aren't very good at the latter two...

Killing 300 people in a hospital airstrike is about security? That would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

More importantly, you have to ask why, a state that has one of the best armies and intelligence apparatus in the world, didn't know about the threat, and why they couldn't thwart it while it was happening? Israel has cameras on every wall, yet they didn't see Hamas coming? Or, was it part of their plan to turn Gaza into the 'biggest open-air prison'? Their words, not mine! You have to ask why Netanyahu, not long before this attack (as horrific as it was), went to the UN and showed them a map of Israel which included territories belonging to Gaza and to Lebanon. Ask yourself, why Netanyahu's govt, since he became PM again, has killed more people in Gaza than Hamas has killed Israelis in the last 10 yrs? Why lie about 40 babies being liked, and now it turns out this was a lie. So, maybe you are asking the wrong question? I could think of much more pertinent questions you should be asking. In 1947 they rejected the UN’s proposal for two States because they wanted to attack Israel with 4 other Arab countries and lost. They aren’t interested in sharing that land with Jews. I personally didn’t want to see the atrocities… yet it may be necessary to get the message across. Same with the shootings of kids in our schools. I guess if you don’t actually see pics. it’s easy to ignore it.

People are supporting human life and are against the hatred that you appear to be spreading. Instead of asking about Western values, ask yourself about human values, especially when Israel is bombing a hospital and killing over 500 innocent lives.

I'm officially done with listening to any of these spokespeople. If the current news is correct, Israel has just struck a hospital and killed at least 600 innocent people, many of them women and children who were taking shelter there. This is a war crime. It's not "self defense", it's not about Israel's security, it's about the mass murder of innocent civilians and it's probably going to lead to an unfathomable escalation. Israel had the sympathy of the entire civilized world last week, now every civilized human has no choice but to condemn the Israeli military and government for the massive crimes they are committing. History is being written right now, and Israel will not fare well on those pages.

Yes, interesting history. I'm in the process of trying to find what the TORAH says about the peoples of this area in ancient times, and if modern Orthodox Jews believe this. Deut. 7 has that God commanded the Israelites/Jews (sorry, I don't know even the proper term) after Moses led them out of bondage in Egypt, to utterly destroy the peoples of this area: man, woman, and child. Wow.

One of my favorite MSNBC host Rachel Maddow was in tears about children being put in cages at the border by the Trump administration, but gladly goes along with the dehumanization of Palestinian women and children in which almost 700 children have been killed. She has some good talking points, but I disagree with about 30% of what she's saying. During the Trump Administration they had a great opportunity to squash anti-Semitism in the US.... and they didn't do anything.
