I have a 24HP tractor with a 5ft flail mower and it's astonishing what I can do. It cuts and chews through small trees and shrubs, making a pile of branches disappear and is quieter than a push mower plus it doesn't throw projectiles out. That's right, I mow right by my Lexus. Not much worry about a few stumps or stones poking out either, the blades bounce on them... And It's just a small 24HP tractor, best attachment for my summer field maintenance.

Skeptical, because I’ve had one... They take considerably more power, unless you sacrifice ground speed. Also, no mention of maintenance. The cost of servicing the flails is much higher along with the time required. Finish mowing? By their design, they rip the blades and stems. They definitely have their place, but for anyone concerned with the health of their turf. They’re a pretty crude option.

Flail motors are amazing. But in that video I see the guy to low and clip the dirt. NO NOT LET IT HIT THE DIRT. It fills the flails and then it doesn’t cut straight and it mangles your yard. And switching flails isn’t cheap or easy. Also don’t let them hit gravel or tree stumps. Raise them a bit on uneven ground so they never hit the dirt or gravel and they will work great for years. We have a massive one for our 4x4 that can angle so you can cut the ditch but it adds more flails to clear the dirt and the angles sometimes shave a lil high spots but after all these years the yard is level and it cost me a lot of time fixing flails and sharpening triangles.

Indeed..expensive but will pay for itself with work done/multirole capability..
What a neat attachment
I love flail mowers, the only thing is, wire wraps around the drum in a few seconds before you can shut it off. So, if you have one and there are old wire fences, patrol around the perimeters before you go near the fence with the flail mower.
Been trying to get a flail mower. But while you ship all over the country, you don't ship to Hawaii. So I'm stuck using my tractor for everything but lawn maintenance...

They might ship to Hawaii if you pay them enough. That's a problem I always run into also. Mainlanders like to think that is our penalty for living in paradise.
Ill never need one but im glad this exists
Love your channel!!
Cool concept looks very useful, but the cost is too high for most
I feel like you get some killer ass lines with that big ass roller
Can you use it with it tilted so you can cut back brushlines

How tall can you mow pasture grass with this? Do you have to keep it low or can you mow it at 8 inches or something similar?
I call mine Mr Destructo
That’s dope.
I just bought my first brush hog and I wish I could have gotten one of these instead.
dang man my dyslexia made me think it said flame thrower 😮
It’s nice until you have to buy the blades
Good for aweeping mines .... coming soon...
I don’t even have a lawn and I want one!
Will it do woody shrubs like red osier dogwood or poplar seedings?
I live in an apartment and I want one of these!
It’s not the best in grass it typically isn’t a clean cut and can damage stunt the growth

sounds so not worth using for grass then.

@@jeffa847 if you are cutting grass for a crop hay or silage etc then a disk mower or sickle bar is better, if you are just tidying up around the yard keeping grass under control then this is fine,
Did this man say you can finally cut your grass? Did lawn mowers just go away
@TireSlayer55

Finely, not finally.
Can you set it low enough to work up the top 1/2” of soil/vegetation? Or at least the surface vegetation to prepare a seed bed?
Do you have an adapter kit for a subaru wagon?
Skeptical, because I’ve had one... They take considerably more power, unless you sacrifice ground speed. Also, no mention of maintenance. The cost of servicing the flails is much higher along with the time required. Finish mowing? By their design, they rip the blades and stems. They definitely have their place, but for anyone concerned with the health of their turf. They’re a pretty crude option.
How well does that mower work with the summit reactor?
Where can I go and look at one of these tractors?
How is it? Thanks
What do you recommend for the bx23s?
Do they have one of these that will work with the little mini Kubota??
Nice 👍🏻
What about sharpening? How do you sharpen all those blades?
@patricknesbit2334

They are simply replaced. They are simply pined on the roller and you pull the pin, remove the blade and put on a new one.
Cool
I'm going to need a bigger trailer
We’ve always done the same thing with our king cutter
I'm sold. Now I just need to find some grass
Whats the minimum hp required?

@@user-rn3rn6nl3h im sorry im not a tractor god. I just bought my first tractor. 35hp..... We all cant be an inbred farmer like yourself and know it all
Here I am homeless in Los Angeles watching this like I have entire fields of grass 😂
They do great on grass I got into some hemp and plugged it up spent next hour digging it out stay out of hemp just saying
Another advantage is it does not shoot grass or other debris out the side.
Haven't had good luck "mowing" with them, but bashing the brush to the ground....nothing better.
Got any in a Walk-Behind size?
Will that eat up small stumps like a stump grinder if you go slow?

@rpsteele7515

I would use it on saplings only. I suppose you could use it to cut stumps sized 2" to 4" but you would eat through the knives in no time, so it really isn't worth it.
what is the name of the machine and where can we get it
awesome. now i’m gonna go buy a tractor and some land (with grass)
You DO NOT want to use the same mower on rough areas and then on your lawn. Regardless of what kind of blades you use, they need to be sharp for lawn cutting. If not, they will do a very poor job and you'll have super rough edges on your grass. Bad idea.
How neat is that?
Plant native flowers instead
Never heard a bush hog called a brush hog before

People do refer to them as both, alll the time.
I live in east Texas and have a few acres I mow. This would also be perfect to help me maintain around my tree line and keep a path open down to the creek. I have a 970 John Deere. Be cool to be a test subject for you all.
What is the dark green "Summit" tractor!?
Are they any good for slopes or sm hills
@GoodWorksTractors

They follow along behind your tractor. So, if your tractor can go there, then so can the mower.
Damn!🔥
Does it come with a free tractor?
For some reason I read “This is why you want a fail mower.” I didn’t understand how the title has anything to do with the video.
Just so many reasons why a flail mower is the one attachment you should buy.
I need me one of them
I don’t own any land but I want a tractor with a bunch of attachments 😂. Maybe I could pay for it by doing jobs with it on the weekends? My land lord has a John Deere tractor that I use a lot for working around her property. It’s not work, it’s a fun machine to operate. I can spent most of a day mowing or tilling and not feel like I’ve worked. I’m a truck driver so I’m used to working 12-16 hour days. The tractor is relaxing in the fact none of you bastards are cutting me off on the highway 😂
