They fear what they don't understand which is basic human instinct and how we evolved to identify threats. Supposing it's left to imaginary chances then from a pragmatic perspective it's better to believe that eternal hellfire exists and be proven right than believe that eternal hellfire doesn't exist and be proven wrong. Jk Prophecies of prophet Muhammad pbuh and linguistic, scientific miracles and such in Qur'an are proofs that we're able to handle and see objectively. Rest is a lovely addition. There are various falsification tests in the Quran to prove it wrong depending on the background of the persons. I wonder what would be yours. And it'll be lovely.
