This is why WINTER is the BEST Landscape Photography season!
In my opinion Winter is easily the best Landscape Photography season. The low angle light is often incredible for large sections of the day, the crisp clear air often elevates scenes and snow/ice wields the power to transform otherwise mundate landscapes into dramatic images. In this video I head out for an action packed day of Winter landscape photography to show exactly why I love this season so much. Thanks very much for watching and let me know your thoughts on the images captured down below in the comments. Give the video a like if you've enjoyed :-)
I wish you all a brilliant New Year - see you in 2021!

Love the railway photo
Both good images and it is always best to play safe, stay warm and alive.
Love that last image mate. Well done. Thanks for sharing!
Well crafted James. Thanks for the exposure information.
Great shots! Photography is meant to be a non stressful experience but I know the feeling.
fantastic composition on #2
Brilliant shot of the tram lines and hills

Extremes of the day and two nice compositions, nicely done. I generally prefer a little more movement in the sea, two nice images though
Amazing! Absolutely love your content - Thanks for all the hard work and inspiration!

Beautiful shots! Happy New Year!
Great video James as are all the ones of yours I have seen! I was actually on the other side of snaefell at the same time as you on Christmas Eve and had a great day numb fingers apart!
The contrast of the warm and cool tones in that second shot is awesome. Love the way the light reflects off of the rails. Both shots are sweet.

wonderful.
Hiya James, I absolutely love blue hour shot. I really need to practice my focus stacking as can struggle to blend them in post process. Great video and all the best for 2021!!
Love the 2 shots, the pebbles in the 1st one look great and the 2nd image is excellent
Thanks for sharing all the interesting videos you make. Happy New Year James.
Beautiful images and video. Hypothermia and overcast are tough on photography and photographers. I've been up on Snaefell NOT in the winter and it was breezy (my pedestrian touristy photos were super overcast.) Strong freezing damp wind can kill. The way your pack strap was flapping around that was a strong wind and you didn't look like you had enough layers on for it. Snaefell killed a wind turbine (tower?) once. Good call on turning back. The lone car reminds me of driving from Ramsey to Douglas.
Great images Happy new year
Both images are great due to hard work and sound creative skills. The explanation of your technique and settings used are very helpful, thanks James
Hi James You are a true ambassador for the Isle of Man, your images showcase the Isle in all of its beauty and moods. I look forward to seeing more of your vlogs in 2021, stay safe

Happy New Year! This was inspiring
Happy New Year, indeed, James! Super images w/contrasting color themes. Blue hour shot something special - rocks and shore alone would set the mood, imo, without the cottage or sky. (Cottage itself nothing “quaint”). Recall a tramway along hill in one of your earlier posts - thought it was a road zig-zagging on mt. Tramway works, especially w/layering of clouds and hills. Thought fall was your favorite season for shooting landscapes. At least there were no gate tropes in this vid😁.

Liked both images, the blue hour has fantastic colour and the long exposure really works well. Looking at the colour and detail in both shots it seems the Z glass is working well for you.

If you were to get a whole new camera system from scratch today for Landscape photography which brand and camera model would you buy? Or would you wait for some future camera on the horizon?

Thank you! Very hard question to answer without my own bias slipping in. I honestly think the Z7 and Z lenses are all I need really. If they can bring a light 70-200 f4 which accepts teleconverts to the lens roadmap then its pretty much perfect
Brilliant mate. Happy new year to you too mate. All the best for 2021.

Happy New Year James
Both images are fantastic, James. Nature's randomness adds charm to the images. The tramway is intriguing.
The combination of warm and cool colours works well on both of these shots James, as well as the composition of course.
Great video. I especially loved the final tramway at sunset image. I can only imagine how cold you must have felt.

Freezing! Thanks for watching 👍
great photos!
Both lovely shots but I prefer the beach one as the colour contrast of the trackway sunset is too defined - tropical island sunset with snowy scene beneath - even if it was SOOC I'd blend it a bit. Funny how you said I've got 'about two hours before the sun sets', and my first thought was ....wishful thinking. Glad you changed your mind. The 'Rule of Thumb' states you have one hour of sunlight, for each one thumb knuckle the sun is above the horizon at arms length. Surprising how true this holds, season in, season out. If you drop into a valley it holds true. The south side of some valleys get no direct sunlight at all in winter. I think the one thing that 2020 has taught us is 'live on an island, a small one, the smaller the better'. Actually, there's a second, 'trust science, not politicians!' Have a wonderful, safe and happy New Year.

James! You’ve talked it up, man! 😆 But seriously, your blue hour shot is beautiful. Actually, your sunset shot is also beautiful. You are so lucky to live on such a photogenic island. Happy new year, buddy and let’s pray that 2021 is clear of the damned virus.

Happy New Year James, both shots were awesome, I definitely like the second one better. That’s a gorgeous picture! Did you use any filters on the camera in either shot. Thanks again James...and a very prosperous NY to you as well..2021 will be a great year.

Thanks Robert! No filters used for either of the images. The light levels were so low that an ND filter wasn't needed for the pre-dawn image. Happy new year to you too 🙂
Enjoyable video James, very nice images. What kind of wellies are you wearing? they look as if they're quite grippy in the snow.
@JamesBrewphoto

Thanks John - I'm actually not sure on the brand of Wellies as they were a christmas gift. They have very good grip. It's rare to see me wearing anything else 👍
Both great images, I will consider the blue hour more now rather than focusiing on the actual sunrise. Loved the 'golden' tram lines. Have enjoyed all your great content this year both on your own channel and Photography Online. All the very best for 2021.

Happy New Year Sergio 👍
The photography I'm doing at the moment uses less and less too long exposures, the max is 2 seconds I prefer the "lines" created by water and not the "foggy" look, on second I would be on tracks to create depth. But hey that's me and ofc everyone sees it differently! Subscribed, have a great year.
James Every time you mention where you are, I have to stop the video and look it up, realizing that as I do so, the Isle of Mann is only one-fifth the size of the middling sized county I live in here in central Texas. I should be able to find landscapes that at least shine the shoes of the vistas that you shoot. you'd think.

Happy New Year James and thanks for all the content in 2020, it's helped make a bad year a little better. Do you have any plans for the Z 70-200mm f2.8 in 2021? I've had mine for about 6 weeks now and absolutely love it, and would be delighted to see you review it. Also enjoyed hyour appearances on the Skye Photo Academy Photography Online channel. All the best for 2021!

Thank you Richard! Happy New Year! As good as the 70-200 looks I don't plan to get it at the moment. I'm going to wait to see if Nikon bring any lighter telephoto options to the table like a 70-200 f4 or the 100-400 which is on their Z roadmap. Hopefully by summer I'll have a better idea
Awesome shot. Do you think you could do a vid on your process for focus stacking and shots at different exposure levels and how to combine them all together for one shot? Thanks
