More Windows Phone: • The First Nokia Lumia:...
Today we are looking back again at windows phone in 2023, but instead of looking at how it is using one in 2023, we will look at the innovative features that Windows Phone brought to the market. In this video I am using different microsoft lumia phones. For example Lumia 1020, Lumia 950, Lumia 650. But they also had a lot of other different models like the 1520 and 930. They were also really cool. This video is about Windows Phone 10 and Windows Phone 8 Operating system.

My favorite Windows Phone feature was True Expandable Storage I could insert a micro SD Card into any 16gb WP and make it 128gb instantly.
one of the best budget smartphones was the Lumia 520 . The whole windows phone died 'cause the app store didn't get any love . I never understood why .

The fact that Google deliberatiely did not make any Google apps for Windows Phone and even went as far to render 3rd party Windows Phone apps for their services (like 3rd party WP KZread clients for example) nonfunctional was a big part of it. Google did not want a big 3rd player in the smartphone OS market and they played a significant role in why WP failed.

YES! my first smartphone was a nokia lumia with windows phone 8.1 and it was amazing, the phone only had 512 megs of memory and a really slow snapdragon 400 CPU but it was smooth, consistant and worked well, i used to be really into games like Hill Climb Racing back then, and those games ran very smoothly. but then windows phone 10 update came out and it was slow, sluggish, all the games that i played smoothly without any lags started stuttering like crazy, UI was worse, it was just a worse experience over all.
Recent news said that Nadella (CEO, Microsoft) realized that stopping the Windows phones was a big mistake. Thanks for the video.

The OS was underrated AF. Simple, clean, elegant, stripped-down, fast, stable and pretty secure. It was also easier to develop apps for, but too bad people didn't do so a lot. It was so efficient, getting the best out of devices with pretty underpowered hardware compared to flagship Android and iPhones.
It had amazing minimalist design and a pure dark mode. I still consider Windows Phone keyboard to be the best- accurate, great haptic feedback.

Not to mention the keyboard had the best clicky noises.... seriously its ridiculous how sublime of an experience WP offered. At the time, I really didn't mind not having the mainstream apps. Because everything else worked so freakin well... Took my Lumia Icon out (928/929??) the other day to compare camera shots with a new Samsung. Surprisingly holds its own. Arguably better image quality ( hard to tell with the lower res Lumia screen though. might have to check out the raw images later on) If the Lumia had the same photo processing software that the Samsung had, I'd argue that the Lumia would come out ahead all dayyyyy Also Windows Continuum was the original Samsung Dex... Got the Lumia 800 way back in 2011 when WP just came out. It was the tech of the future, easily gave the iPhone 4s a run for its money. Still hurts me to this day that we don't have these beautiful devices around anymore.
Windows phones just needed apps. They were much better than Android can ever be. Lag free, they might even have had integration with Windows PCs and would have created an ecosystem just like apple’s. Its a shame nobody made windows apps and the phones had to die. They had the perfect premium plastic bodies which did not break easily and were replaceable if they did break, awesome cameras for their time, an almost perfect OS and UI, my personal favourite till date, and an almost perfect ecosystem possibility like that of apple.
I miss the Windows Phone UI so much. Never had any problems or glitches, it just worked. The lumina line of phones were amazing also, just built like tanks and loved the colour plastic.

@@ImportantTech Microsoft was pretty incompetent, and lacked vision and action. If they managed to release Windows 10 Mobile back in 2010, so basically in competition with iOS 4 and Android 2.3 then yes, Microsoft would have dominated the smartphone marketshare. In 2011, they still would have a chance, just as long as the hardware was good, price fair, and the third-party support competitive. Because we saw the huge leap with Android 4.0 and not long after we saw Apple re-revolutionise the industry with iOS 7, 64-bit hardware, and the absolutely tiny/ergonomic in the iPhone 5S. So basically by the time it was 2013, it was too late. Yet, Microsoft didn't really get their best foot forward until like 2016. I really liked the HP Elite X3, but there was litle reason to get that instead of the iPhone 6S+ or Samsung S7+ or the ZTE Axon 7.
The first Windows phone I used was the Nokia Lumia 610, which ran WP7.5. I got it in 2018, so it was pretty useless from the start sadly. Windows Phone was a very cool OS with a very unique and beautiful UI. I have never used any of the later Windows phones, I wish I could've experienced it when it was at its peak still with limited app support though). I have Launcher 10 as my Android Launcher and it very accurately replicates the WP10 OS. I could spend all day just looking at it!
I had both 520 and 640 XL. Hands down most intuitive and best smartphone UI I ever had. I remember and will never forget how bitter it felt when apps simply started disappearing from the store. I used to be a great fan of Microsoft, but since they murdered this great little thing, I never bought a single device from them ever again.

If they would have been able to get google apps these phones would still be around.
This felt like way agead of it's time. If only they would have stayed a little longer in the market then things might have turned around for them and creators would be created apps for windows too.
Yes, I still own 4 Windows Phones. But I don't use them as my daily phone. HTC Arrive (Windows Phone 7.8), Lumia 640 (Windows Mobile 10) , Lumia 822 (Windows Phone 8.1) , and Lumia 950 (Windows Mobile 10). They're still fun to play around with. It's funny when I see Android and Apple come out with "new features" that Windows Phone had almost a decade ago.

I definitely remember when Windows Phone had wireless charging as one of its prime features back in 2017-18 if I remember correctly. I specifically remember being at an airport in FL while I was on vacation and needed a charge. They had phone charging stations where they had plug holes for charging cables etc. Also, the charging stations basically had "shelves" on them and on those shelves were two pads. They were wireless charging pads. I remember every one and their mom had wires coming out of these charging stations and I was like the only one to put my phone directly on the pad to charge without wires. It was kind of a funny scene.

I miss Windows Phone so much. One of the reasons I actually liked it so much was because it was missing so many of the popular apps iPhone and Android had. I felt like I could actually switch off without constantly being bombarded with notifications. I had a HTC 8X and Lumia 535.
I still own three of those and regularly come back to both my Lumia 530 and 640 (i actually use them as alarm clocks because I just like the Nokia alarm jingle way more than anything my current iphone SE has). If they come up with some sort of windows 11 or 12 phone I'll be first in line to get one, i loved everything about them
I always liked the live tile design and how it looked.

Yes, I have lumia 520 since 2012. And recently I bought refurbished Lumia 540 dual sim.
loved my 1520. updated to windows 10. still keeping it though it won't start anymore.
I had a Nokia Lumia 820 with Windows and it was amazing, loved that one so much!
I was windowsphone user for many years and it was good time...
If a windows phone comes back with proper app support like maps, social media apps and basic utilities app such as file sharing, my next phone will be a windows phone. I was a huge fan of this UI and its camera. By the time I was old enough to be able to buy a phone for myself, the windows phone got discontinued.
I think the problem with this homepage was that it required a lot of effort to adjust it to your needs. The default setup was not good. If it could be preset by default better and dynamically change itself according to how the user is using the phone etc. It would be great.
Nice work 👍🎉😊

I still have my Lumia 635 (non functioning), 640 and 640XL. After seeing this video, I went and charged up my 640XL, which still works, minus the app store access now. It's cool though, I kept all my apps and games on their and I was running windows 10 the last update they put out. Of everything, I loved taking pictures with it, even if it wasn't high end like the 950, its the software that made the difference. You take a picture, and after each picture, it added the touches and when you go to after a few seconds those pictures were clean!!
I miss the little dimple in the keyboard that in reality were the arrow keys for moving the typing cursor, the paste button on top of the keyboard and the “don’t forget your last calendar event” wen it died out of battery. Had a 930 and a 950xl and those were my favorite phones
The Sat Nav was superb too.

I was a windows phone fan. Missing it's simplicity and speed
I had a original moto g once. This had a replaceable back cover. And Motorola brought out a flip cover, shipping with an actual back cover. Was the most compact way of doing a flip cover case, as at the back sight was acting as the backcover. Now you always need a sjell (hard or silicone) around the actual phone, making it bulkier.
If it releases again, Imma buying it foshoo
i own lumia 720.. and wanted to use it as a secondary device but the power button is damaged now.. and no one was able to fix it.. so its just sitting there with me.. it still looks way better than any android device i have used so far
can't watch without tears. Bastards killed best OS ever.
I used lumia 520 and 930 in the past (about 9-10 years ago). The OS was amazing.. elegant, smooth, never lags. The only reason I switched to iPhone 6 at that time was due to its app store. It lacks many important apps and I need to use many third-party apps, even for Instagram and Facebook. Never understood why. If not because of the apps, I can even see myself using windows phone till today.
I find out that Windows Phone runs well on entry level devices than Android, including the Go Edition. If only MS kept developing Windows Phone
The option to have two separate Phone and Messaging app for Dual Sim phones was the best feature that I had on any phone.
I loved the Nokia 1020 I used to own, it was White, the first mobile phone camera that really impressed me, and I always enjoyed using Windows Mobile.

I still own both of my Windows phone, and I still love them, If Windows Phones ever comes back, I will switch to them in blink.

It's rare that a superior product and not the most popular product ends up coming out on top. Looking back at all the dead mobile OS platforms, this couldn't be more true. So many good mobile OS platforms have come and gone that were so ahead of their time than what we have left with iOS and Android. Windows Phone was definitely one of my favorite and I still have my Lumia 830 which is still one of my favorite phones of all time as well as my Lumia 1020, another amazing phone. Always wanted a Nokia 808, not Windows Phone powered but one of the last Symbian powered flagships of that era. Symbian, another excellent mobile OS that is no more. The mobile landscape 15 years ago was just so much more diverse and full of innovative tech. These days most of the so-called innovation happens in China between the various Chinese brands and rarely makes it outside to other markets and most of that innovation surrounds camera tech and a lot of that is iterative year over year updates, nothing groundbreaking. I would love a third option at this point. I love my Pixel 8 Pro and but give me a modern webOS powered Pixel with that same AI and camera tech and the Google Play Store and I'd take it in a heartbeat over anything else out now.
I really hope they bring back windows phone . I will buy it in a heartbeat
I really loved Windows phones. I dreamed buying them when I'm grown up but sadly they have disappeared now 😢
Continuum worked wirelessly as well, (though sort of slower, on a Wifi b/g protocol) with Miracast supportin devices (i.e TVs) back in the days. Something we don't see even today in some of the devices out there in the market.
Back in the days when I used to have Lumia 540, I loved it. One of the most memorable purchases I've ever made. Android & iOS cannot give satisfaction as much as a windows phone. ❤
I really loved my windows phone, but the lack of app support really killed it, I either had inferior versions of apps or straight couldn't get some apps
