    another great video,thanks for the great fishing morning,awsome Trevor:), good for me to see fishing with plastics in faster water ,here i struggle with plastice dew to the fast in and out tides in the back water estuary systems ,but this Tue morn at 3 c temps we went out, wow cold , and on the low tide, got a good number of salmon with my plastics, hoorhaa at last, was heaps fun and very excited to catch a good number of fish on some plastics using the techniques you have been showing on you tube, went and got more plastice immediately , wounder if you could do a few shows/ vids more with plastics in the faster tides would be great :) got in just before the blood worm run here ,so fishings out for next weeks

    Thanks !! I appreciate the detailed comment. Yeah we fish a lot of non tidal areas with soft plastics and are really starting to cover them more in more tidal waters. Im pretty sure we will cover more content on that topic soon. The trick for me has been the balance of getting the jig head weight right and generally being able to work the plastic slowly. That seems to work very well.

  • @fishingmad

    @fishingmad

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks !! Really appreciate the comment. Yeah i have been using the poison adrena now for a few months. Ive got really mixed feeling about it. The 267ML is absolutely brilliant for kayak fishing. Its 2-4kg but feels a tad heavier and easily capable of catching fish well above that weight class. This is pretty typical of Shimano rods they always feel a bit heavier and for these waters I like that. Its fast action, very senisitve and very responsive, I actually really rate it. I like the spiral x, guides and hollow butt a lot. I tthink its one of there better hollow but section rods and doesnt feel like a hybrid. Where it gets really strange is shimanos models and sizes in the range which just don't seem to quite match our local waters. The sizes are really strange, basic staple size on our local waters should be a 7 foot 2-4 kilo, 6 foot 10 1-3kg etc but there sizes are well off. The marketing for the rods are also way out of wack, marketed as estuary and freshwater rods yet all the marketing is done with a shimano Twin Power XD. There amazing rods for kayak fishing and if fishing skinny waters where shorter rods help, but i really wonder how much thought goes into matching rods with our local waters.

    @@fishingmad Thank you so much for your comprehensive answer, Alan. What you are describing does really makes sense, I had the same impression looking at the lengths within the range. Also agree with the positives, although I only managed to “feel them” in the store with the annoying plastic tags on. I probably would not buy them new, but perhaps if there is a nice model available second hand, I would give it a go. The $600 RRP price tag puts them close to the better Edge rods by Garry Loomis, some of which I was lucky enough to try and they simply beat anything else in terms of feel and performance for fishing soft plastics or jerkbaits in my opinion

    I have a PA14 with a trailer so this decision was 100% about weight. Its still 11 kilos lighter then the compass, and there is a lot more cockpit room on the Lynx. If you didn't own a kayak and needed just one the Compass or Outbacks would be exceptional choices. The compass is excellent value, and performance.
