I have done about 23 thousand kms in Gurkha and it has 3 major problems that can strand you in the middle of nowhere. *Poor clamps that can cause leakage of coolant* , *Leakage of steering fluid* , and *Rare EDC ERRORS THAT might; might strand you* Just keep an eye for these 3 and you are good to go with basic knowledge. I never understood the hate. It can do anything and everything other 4x4s do but it’s more of a traveler and less of a competitive off-roader. Know that before buying and you won’t regret. Regular maintenance and responsible driving is enough to keep it going for years. *USE IT TO USE IT, DON'T TEST IT!* GODSPEED!

As a first time buyer of 4x4 and someone who wanted to learn off roading, I was inclined to buy Gurkha, but after my research, I deduced that it's more of a seasoned enthusiasts vehicle rather then of a novice, I brought jimny and really loving the every moment of journey with it.

Hilux costs around Rs 45L on road even after discounts it would barely go to below Rs 37-38L at most. If people in India had this much purchasing power Gurkha and thar wouldn't have even existed and we've had cars like miata mx5 and abarth spider 1241 parked in every street.

Bhai jab itne paise hain toh ghurkha pura custom modify karva lo with 6 cyl bmw/merc diesel engine etc

Now THAR has become chhapri chhap like KTM . It's a good offroader, enough for most people, no doubt. Hilux is basically a pick-up truck with good off-roading capability and tops the list in reliability 👍👍👍.

Boy! This is the best video I have seen today. Nowadays people go office in a Thar or Gurkha and breakfast drive on weekends just to show others... they're into overlanding. Very few people actually use these cars for what they're actually built for. Hence few people have any idea about the machine's capabilities. The most off road they do is on the fields and tug of war for the reels. The Gurkha is definitely capable than the Thar with the diff locks. Reliability and after sales service is a different story. Everyone loves to ride an Elephant. Live with one, and I would love to hear your opinion.

Thar has that stupid MLD , that you can't control, it automatically disengages even if you want it to be locked for a long time..

I purchased the Gurkha BS6 and am based in Hyderabad. After driving 16,000 km, I encountered a few issues such as coolant leakage, poor fuel efficiency, and suboptimal power performance. I've been experiencing a mileage of approximately 10 km/l. Overall, these are issues that one needs to tolerate.😅

Gurkha Articilation issue I guess is linked with the rear sway bar installed in the rear...to control body roll...kindly pardon me if I'm wrong here. Removing the same will give Gurkha the required articulation expected from vehicle of such caliber. Secondly front link rods were placed too down ways which hamper in off road travel... Hope new upcoming 5 door one focuses on providing reliable parts. Resolving link rod and other problems with which Gurkha can compete with the bests in the market.

Budget is also the King. Not everyone can buy or afford such an expensive vehicle like Hilux.

Bhaiya your video is a tight slap to "chappri KZreadrs" who support this type of blind fanboism and this type of KZreadrs made me hate thar and gurkha so much... And also these types of influencers are the reason that there is demand for Thar RWD , Only for show-off.

Yes, they had the 2.2L Engine but I think its because of BS6 and DEF they are trying to avoid the Engine upgrade.

There are always better 4x4 vehicles in the market... It's up to us what we like/want... It also hugely depends upon the budget in hand... I do trail riding with my BS3 Himalayan which many think is not good but it's very good for me... There are guys who only choose BMW GS1200 or Triumph 850 or 1200 ADV's which many can't afford to buy.... For a Jeep Wrangler, G63 or Defender guys Hilux is not so good ... So we can keep comparing for infinity.... Anyone buying a Gurkha knows it's not a WooowW car in terms of performance, offroading or service.... What do you expect from a Van making company under foreign licence...

Very sensible comment. I drive my old BS-4 Gurkha which feels like truck. No infotainment, and handling the gears (especially 4x4) work up the muscles. But I like it as it enables me to go to such places where normal cars cannot venture. Also as an Indian budget plays a vital role.

And normal logo ko ( jinka budget tight rehata hai) unke liye justify kar payegi? Single car at home!

As I have shifted to bigger sidewalls, I am keeping 33-34 PSI. With 29 it will become a sofa with weight in bed. Will try lower pressures in hills on bad roads.

@@DCVExpeditions I am not sure if you have seen the metal bed lid which is being sold by Azad 4*4. I have got that and it should have increased the rear weight by some 40 kgs. I am currently using 29 on stock tyres and it is giving me 16kmpl in the city. The only clause is that I have to be kind to the accelerator which I am fine with as I don't drive fast or rash.

I owned it for several years, sold it juz few months back, One of the best SUV in that price segment, Safari becomes an addiction if onces you own it or especially if u r a fan of massive SUVs. Very comfortable, nice mileage, feels more safe due to heavy built quality Only some of the parts are not that much durable after 1,00,000 kms only. If ever Tata Launches same type of Suv with 4*4 varients i would buy it without a second thought.

Hilux is too big, basically a pickup, too expensive, average person may not afford. Content is viewed as we relate ownership of vehicles. Honestly how many Hiluxs are there with Indian adventurers.
