    @@tamra8018 I’ve noticed that most KZreadrs use an Equinox Minelab. I don’t have one but I recently found my first coins at the beach and was ecstatic. Garrett Ace 400. 3 quarters, 2 dimes, 9 nickels, and 3 pennies - $1.43 total. Someone must’ve emptied their pockets. Other finds at the same beach- tent stake, screw, pull tab, crab snare metal crimp, and bobby pin. Note: I was almost ready to quit after 1.5 hours when I began finding the coins.

    How much is a decent metal detector for a beginner? Do you have any brand or model recommendations?

  • @funwithjim

    @funwithjim

    Жыл бұрын

    Beach detectors need really strong processors to be good, I like the Minelab Equinox series the 600 is awesome and costs about $600 though you can find deals as newer models are coming. Anything cheaper is not going to work on the beach very good anyways.

    No need to cover your holes when only metal detectors are on the beach. We had to dig are way down that 15' cut and dig our way back up and out, the next high tide cleaned up the holes by adding a few feet of sand back.

    Жыл бұрын

    @@TheMrFlyBoy18 Yes, I will recommend a beach. Do you know where Will Rogers State Beach is? I would not normally tell you this, but I will not be around much longer. I have mesothelioma. Don't go to Will Rogers Beach if there is no storm. Your gonna have to wait till next winter. Big winter storms stir up beach sand and that gives you access to old coins that are buried now. Ok, I'll tell you where, after paying for parking 7-10 dollars, park your car on the north side of the entrance. Low tide gives you access to a lot of wet sand. Just detect the wet sand. I look for a cut in the sand along the high tide line and the water line when the tide is out. Zigzag from the cut (hight water line) to the waters edge. Somewhere between the high and low tide lines you will discover where the bulk of the targets will be hiding. Last winter I went to Will Rogers three time. First time there was a cut and I dug fourteen silver coins and a gold ring. Second time there was no storm and I managed to dig three silver coins. The third time it was right after a storm and I dug twenty-one liver coins, and a gold ring. Good luck.

    Nobody but metal detectorist climbed down that 15' cliff of sand to be on the beach! I had to dig my way down and dig my way back up,, so the only people on that beach were metal detectorists digging as much as we could before the tide chased us out. Now you understand!!! I always fill my holes when there are other people enjoying the beach but in this case it was us detectorist digging up that beach without anyone else on it. I also will layer out sections of beach regardless of how busy it is however once I am done layering out the area I fill all the holes. I am sadden I have to explain this but I realize not everyone is a beach metal detectorist.
