I can't for the life of me figure out why no one has cornered the market on kickstands for these. Most everyone I've talked to absolutely detest the jiffy stand like I do. I hate how there's no positive lock when fully extended, and how it scrapes the shit out of my garage floor when it does it's slide out.
@FXDLSBrooklyn

Yeah it's wild man, and like I said, it's something no one seems to talk about - I think it's fine if someone is always finding themselves parking their bike on a level surface, but the type of riding we do, that's a rare luxury

My kickstand failed at 200 miles. I was 30 yards away when it failed. 2k damage. Never in my 30 years of riding have never had this happen.
@2kanchoo

@@myride7216 that’s the other thing I’ve seen more than a few people in Facebook groups say they had the jiffy stand bend or snap and drop the bike.
My biggest deal with the kickstand is they use a e-clip to hold the bushing in. E-clips are fine for rotational components, but when the kickstand slides into the locked position the clip would bind up and pop off, losing your lower bushing. Happened twice, but since then, I've replaced the pivot pin with a shoulder bolt and locknut. It isnt falling off now.
@FXDLSBrooklyn
18 күн бұрын
Yeah that has not happened yet, but not the type of thing I would be wanting to field on the side of the road on a long day of miles - Will definitely be looking into your locknut solution, appreciate you sharing man!
@FXFBS540
18 күн бұрын
The good news is the factory pin is installed from the top, so if the clip flies off, just the lower bushing falls out. The pin can't come all the way out. It will partially rise up and rub into the primary. You'll feel it putting the stand down, and the kickstand will seem to over extend forwards and out beyond normal.
Honestly, coming from 10 years of riding Japanese bikes then getting a dyna, the kickstand is one of my favourite parts. I find myself parked off road a lot and on my ninja it was a bit sketchy. But the dyna holds itself up everywhere, it’s great.

I agree man - Especially for the off road situations, was always just a good piece of mind knowing the bike was planted
I agree with you 100% on all those issues. Specifically the kickstand Jiffy stand. From previously working at a Harley dealer can’t tell you how many times bikes tipped over because either the associate or the customer did not know how to put it on the stand properly.🤘🏽👊🏽

What size rear tire did you run for the Commander 3? Michelin doesn’t offer the stock size.
Lift it up a inch. More lean angle for corners. Better kickstand angle. I've herd lots of people gripe about the battery. Especially if it doesn't get rode regularly. I've herd they drain batteries. Got to run a tender.

@FXDLSBrooklyn for some reason the tilt scares me, but I have a dirt driveway 🤣
If you raise up the rear just like we do with Dynas it will solve most handling and lean angles. When you lift it it will Gangster lean. Battery problems i have not heard of, that sucks. Do you run a drip when parked? A few companies make a daddy long leg seat, at 6'2" i always run those seats. When i ride to Sturgis the extra inch and a half back combined with the Skate bar i run really kicks you back. Great video dude.

I totally agree. I have already laid my bike down just because of a slight incline. I also agree with the battery access it makes it so terrible plus if you add accessories to it, it is a nightmare to hook up.

Im actually surprised you don't have a problem with the lack of forward controls for long rides. Plus the frame is too narrow for a true touring seat. Ive seen ppl put Soft tail deluxe touring seats on Slims. And it just doesn't look right. I would avoid leaving the front wheel straight when you are parked. Because of the ability to tip over easy with wind or accidently turning or bumping the bike. Turning the bars to the left to full lock. Will transfer all the weight to the kickstand side.
Who did you get to install your cam? I'm at the point where its time to do that on my LRS and I live in NYC. I also want to 2-1 exhaust that isn't too loud

I dare say the hidden battery BS is a deal killer for me (I'm trying to make that SG, RG, LR ST choice). Something u said landed weird tho - I have a 2013 Dyna with mid controls. I sat on the Lowrider ST (never rode it) and thought just the opposite. Compared to my "lounge chair" Dyna, that ST was borderline sportbike. My feet were too close, my knees were too high (and I'm not a tall guy). The bike felt way more upright and less laid back. Seemed fun for some twisteez but didn't seem like an all dayer at all. (Maybe because my Dyna is lowered and I have a Saddleman?)

Just bend the kickstand forward. It only took me 5 take-offs with the kickstand down to get it bent enough. Or just use heat and respray it. I can't stand the stock speedo, I would change it out for the Lowrider S because it's perfection.

Work at an indie shop, had to run one of these out back today. I didn’t know if it was my square toe work boots or the peg placement, but the kickstand was really awkward to work. Otherwise, that 30 second putt to the back just.., I wanna see how these are at speed. My ‘83 Sportster was so much fun and I wanna upgrade to a Dyna soon, but this… This is a wonderful platform. Also, my Sporty was super recognizable because of its extreme gangster lean, and by that I mean people knew that bike was mine by the lean alone. I’d have to “fix” this if I ever upgrade.

I have sat one a few different Low Rider ST from having aftermarket bars and seats to test riding a stock one. In stock form these are terrible as far as comfort goes. Even with taller bars and saddleman seat I personally still felt like I was cramped up. Maybe I'm just used to my 93,000 mile Dyna that I've built to fit me.
I recently set on a friend's FXR, I'd forgotten how it was the perfect aggressive yet able to tour seating position. Of course, even with the Lowrider S/ST being their performance model, theyre building it for comfort for the masses that won't use it as G_D and Arthur Davidson intended.

Garter snake is the common name for small to medium-sized snakes belonging to the genus Thamnophis in the family Colubridae. They are native to North and Central America, ranging from central Canada in the north to Costa Rica in the south. With about 35 recognized species and subspecies, garter snakes are highly variable in appearance; generally, they have large round eyes with rounded pupils, a slender build, keeled scales (appearing ‘raised’), and a pattern of longitudinal stripes that may or may not include spots (although some have no stripes at all). Certain subspecies have stripes of blue, yellow, or red, mixed with black tops and beige-tan underbelly markings. They also vary significantly in total length, from 18 to 51 in (46 to 130 cm). With no real consensus on the classification of the species of Thamnophis, disagreements between taxonomists and disputed sources (such as field guides) are common. One area of debate, for example, is whether or not two specific types of snake are separate species, or subspecies of the same. Garter snakes are closely related to the genus Nerodia (water snakes), with some species having been moved back and forth between genera.
