This is why Colorado didn't deploy its new $24 million helicopter to fight a wildfire in Lake County
The Firehawk helicopter is a converted Black Hawk that's supposed to be a powerful new tool to fight wildfires in Colorado.

Sounds like the state didn’t want to rush a $24M helicopter at a fire before it is ready and risk losing it, which would be even more embarrassing.
1:21 $24M Firehawk might finally be fully operational in August ☹️

Or, Christmas. 😅
Didn't it fly up to Broomfield for a press show with Polis?
This sounds like the same red tape for that huge firefighting airplane parked in Colorado Springs that just somehow didn't get used 🤔.

Sounds like the usual complaints from someone that doesn't know the subject.

@@who2u333 Then please go ahead and enlighten us on the subject.
It's not a "toy" news boy.
The image change at 1:21 is not to the Colorado airship. The one the shown is a CALFIRE FireHawk based near San Jose/Santa Cruz Mountains of CA

@@AppalachianPatriot Or very technically knowledgeable.
Only a politician can believe in the logic of spending $26 million for a follow up to a $24 million blunder.
Bring in the Hawaii Mars! 😎
It'll probably burn in a wildfire
There is a bit of unfairness in this report. All organizations with air assets at this level have mechanics full-time. When problems were found with this helicopter, who do you think found the problems? Either a mechanic or a pilot. Guess who is maintaining it in between flights? Mechanics. After a repair, guess who has to perform the test run-up? A pilot. Who has to do the test flight? The pilot and sometimes the mechanic accompanies. But being unuseable for 1.5 years and purchasing the same thing as a 2nd aircraft when the first isn't up? Sounds like something and/or someone needs to be looked at. It's the taxpayers money. They deserve an explanation beyond "problems".
ban campfires
Did bobo vote this copter down?
Yea test it out on an emergency when it doesn’t work Y did they buy it

The Firehawks in California are flying missions successfully. What you should be asking is why are CO's Firehawks not flying when CA's Firehawks are.
24 MILLION! ARE THERE NOT HUNDREDS OF MOTH BALLED AIRCRAFT THAT CAN BE MODIFIED TO CARRY WATER?
@AppalachianPatriot

But there isn’t qualified pilots.

cost lots of money to get one out of moth balls.
No State should own airborne firefighting equipment.. That should be put out for bids across the world just like we do military support operations. Government is the least cost effective yet most corrupt agency to oversee anything that requires the ability to quickly respond and adapt to the changing environment..
costs 10 million + more than a military bird? yeah, that's not going into someone's pocket.
Somebody didn't think this helicopter idea out very well. Red tape sucks. BL

FAA has a lot red tape involving ex military helicopter converted to civilian use. Look at Heavy D Sparks Black hawk videos.
Another polis blunder. Wonder if he owns part of the company that suckered them into buying it.
Corruption to the highest level
Ha! Ha! Ha! Yes! Sounds like they are using the tax payers dollars very wisely. Real normal for our very wise and important Government Agencies.
another boondogle and waste of taxpayer money 2 years and still not ready?
More wasted money.
Yep on a government schedule, nothing to see here, every one is making money as the forest burns
They couldn't find another qualified pilot, give me a break it's the saddest excuse, there are other pilots that would help from other States. SAVE MOTHER NATURE PLEASE!
