What an awesome point of distinction. Love is sacrificing my pleasure for the goodness and dignity of the other. Lust is sacrificing the goodness and dignity of the other for my pleasure. So clearly and effectively worded.

I agree, very effectively worded. We often sort of understand this, but the difficulty of articulation or 'drawing the line' is where we allow a grey area to exist, and thus continue to sin with a sort of cloak of ignorance that we wear. It's time to stop. Great video

Well said. The hardest moments is when you go to a location where everyone is wearing revealing clothing like a pool or beach. Many women attract eyes with their garments and it is on us to keep our minds from wandering into lust. Lust in my opinion is going from noticing an attractive person to thinking about them without clothes, what they smell like, taste like, and finally what it would be like to have sex with them. This is lust and I don't think enough pastors go as far as to say this. This is where lust does the most damage because it takes the imagination and runs wild. For me I have to consciously keep my eyes focused on the reason why I'm there, on the people I'm with, and most importantly how God would feel if my mind were truly going down that path of lust. One final thought about my own testimony, God revealed to me about two years ago that the real danger in lust is enjoying being an OBJECT of lust. This is what makes lust so powerful because not only do we fascinate about doing things with another person but we take pleasure in being desired. Stay vigilant brothers and sisters, the devil is a roaring lion and he revels in the moments when our flesh takes over the Holy Spirit which dwells within us. Godspeed.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a man noticing and admiring the beauty of a woman or vice versa. It crosses the line into lust when we allow that experience to dominate our thoughts and feelings which can lead to a variety of sexual sins. For men, and I suspect for women also, praying the Rosary daily, even many Rosaries daily, can truly purify our minds and hearts to the point where lust becomes a thing of the past. Daily Mass will have the same effect. Lust is an insidious form of slavery that seeks to dominate others...to devour them in a sense for our own pleasure. God wants to liberate us from lust. Pray daily for that very important Fruit of the Holy Spirit: Self Control.

Dear Christopher, here’s my two cents for breaking the vicious cycle of “doorway to crap and doorway to glory”! If we don’t stop thinking about ourselves as an individual (separate entity beside others) we will continue this journey that never ends. Some people may find it as a way to grow but I would call it an entertainment in our earthy life which keeps us distracted from the superior truth. The other way to live is to never allow our emotions develop for the way we are interacting with this world or the way we are being treated by others. We can still enjoy our life but purely by the love of God. If we can achieve it sometime in the future then inconsistency between humans become less and less and everyone will be more like God and similar to each other. All deviations from God come from the Self that imagines it is a separate entity on its own, which is a delusion and a beginning to further ignorance. Blessing, Peter

This is how I broke free of lust and that cycle. I’m completely free from pornography and masturbation with barely any desires because the Lord has changed my heart. When he does that, you just can’t go back. We must NEVER go back to the world, don’t entertain the thoughts because it leads to reasoning which leads to temptation then sin.

So it seems that love is sacrificing your pleasure for their goodness and lust is sacrificing their goodness for your pleasure. I have a question though, can there be pleasure in loving someone? Like is it bad to want pleasant feelings without sacrificing the other’s goodness and personhood? I think this definition makes love sound more penitential that it is (maybe I don’t know). Also is he referring to physical pleasure or emotional pleasure as well? Because I could see that definition applying to physical alone

ive had a conversation with AI the other day about that kind of stuff, we´ve come to the conclusion that, (almost) any matter taken to the extreme becomes destructive , for example when one continues to be greedy, he´ll eventually lose himself in his fear of loss, so the "punishment" for extreme forms are their carried out consequences. like the deadly sins, are all extreme forms of more or less normal conditions, everyone is angry or lazy or wants to eat something nice once in a while, but when taken to the extreme, it becomes pathological, even seemingly good things like caring for others or love (can be overwhelming or too much) ... so harmony and balance and moderation is the key

There is human being behind that layer of skin. The skill of the heart involved in seeing past beauty is the same skill of the heart involved in seeing past the extreme physical ugliness of a person. The eyes of the heart! The capacity of a heart of seeing OTHER HEARTS, piercing through skin and shapes and colors and scents and even sensuality of movement... Lust is an enemy of LOVE. Lust is in the same familly as WICKEDNESS... One very good story that proves what I say is the story of Suzanna. It's Daniel chapter 13 (deuterocanon). It contrast very well wickedness vs love. Also, it shows what happens when you stop looking to heaven when lust shows up and you fail to dominate over a seed of envy and temptation, as written in James 1:1-15.

Thanks for this video, Christopher! I really liked it! I do have 2 questions: 1. I have struggled with porn, and currently struggled with impure thoughts. And with it came sexual puritanism, in that I cannot look at a woman without the fear of lust coming straight at me. Although I do not find this fear irrational, I do not find it healthy. Do you have any advice or guidance on how I can overcome sexual puritanism? 2. Regards to drawing the line between love and lust, does the same apply to porn. What I mean is, where do I draw the line between porn and things that are not considered porn?

It would help to take on the positive approach of not only looking away or avoiding which is the negative approach, but to also frequent the sacraments and use them seriously to grow in a loving real constant relationship with God. If you can grow to love our Lord and discern your heart through the inspirations of the Holy Spirit which takes time, you will receive progress.

This is what i did and this channel told me to do this bro. So. What this guys said to do was to capture the thought. Right where it is. The lust. The looks. The overwhelming feeling of I HAVE TO RELIEVE THIS OR I CANT HANDLE IT!!!!! Capture it and show it to Jesus. Ok. Sounds impossible right because He is so Holy and you are literally nailing Him to the cross right now with all your lust and uncontrollable desires and addictions. But. He is strong in your weakness. Paul says this. When i am weak He is strong. So capture the thought. And surrender it to Christ. Tell Him this 'Jesus i feel terrible because i am sinning so much. I cannot stop. In fact i love it and its killing my soul.' 'please Jesus help me to resist because your Word says resist the devil and he will flee. Jesus i am addicted to watching this. But i dont want to. I am very attracted to watching sex. Jesus you made me to be attracted to sex. But you also said to have sex in an orderly way. With my wife. Thats your boundary Jesus. I want to ibey your boundary. Help me to understand my desire for sex within the order you say. Help me to understand what you put inside me that is attracted to sex. Help me to stay within your boundaries Jesus. And Jesus help me to see when i am straying from your boundaries. Help me to remember so i can capture that thought and give it to you Jesus. Help me to explain that i am attracted to this person. But they are no given to me. Nor am i given to them. We are not married. So i cannot use their body Jesus. I cannot use their body to fulfill my desire for sex. Not even in my thoughts. Jesus i recognize you put in me a desire for sex and help me to see it is beautiful. Help me to see this person as a fellow human being you also created and you also put desires in them. And they also have struggles with thoughts. I ask all these things Jesus because I fear God and want to stay inside the boundaries He says. I dont want to sin but i can see i need to also recognize i am weak in areas. Teach me Jesus how to give my weakness to you so I can teach others who have the same weakness. As you said Jesus some had 5 talents and some 3 and some 1. Jesus teach me how to multiply my talents for your Glory. Finally Jesus i want to thank you for never leaving me alone to be by myself in this difficult time. You are beautiful to me Jesus. You are strong and faithful and such a good friend. You never leave me or forsake me. I love you and want to be holy for you and glorify your name Jesus. Praise you God for your love and your Son!' amen

I have been able to put porn behind me several years ago, have still had some slip ups here and there, which feel terrible. I understand your second question. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish if "things are okay".. If youre consuming something with the end goal being to pleasure your flesh, then its probably not the right answer. I think he explains it really well towards the end of the video. Ask yourself what are you trying to gain from your thoughts or actions and if that takes away from the dignity of another. I have a weird problem because I'm super turned on by womens feet. I dont have to look at "porn" to get excited, women can show their feet and under normal circumstances there is nothing wrong with that. But the same sort of concepts apply. I found myself looking in inappropriate situations. I found myself trying to squeeze a pleasure out of someone else and i didnt want to admit that it was lust, but it was. I had to make a mature decision that no matter how I slice it, I'm engaging in a lustful behavior that has no basis or belonging in love for others. Hope this helps. Stay strong brother.

I have a question about some things. When I was in college in the 70s, I was in an all women's dorm. Every so often, there would be male students standing outside, usually in tbe evening, and they would be yelling at our dorm words like and this is an exact quote "Lesbian loft, virgin vault, we are going to f*** your brains out!" I talked to women from other single sex dorms on campus and they told me about similar incidents. I have one question - why were these guys doing that? What is their motive? Another incident and unfortunately not isolated. I am driving home from visiting an old music teacher. I am wearing a very conservative shirt with long sleeves and that is buttoned up to the neck and long consrvative slacks (which can't be seen because I'm in the car. I have no make-up on. My hair is a very conservative cut, and I am driving my Dad's Dodge Aspen. While at a stop sign a car with two guys in it pulls up next to me. The occupants are total strangers. It a very warm day so the windows are down. The guys in the other car yell things at me like "We will f*** your brains out." Why are they doing this? As you can see I am not doing anything wrong here. Just why? Unfortunatly these are not the only incidents. When I mention them to male co-workers they say that these guys are just admiring me. Why are my otherwise decent and good male friends so dense?

Hebrews 12 amplifies, without contradicting, Hebrews 10. Yes, Jesus is the sole mediator of the New Covenant...but He brings us to the CITY of the Living GOD with angels and the spirits of the just made perfect and living in Him, and His Mother Who as St. John tells us in Revelations 12 is, in Christ, our mother and the ark of the New Covenant. Because of Jesus' mediation, we can pray for each other to Him, and that includes any of those alive in Him in Heaven.

people believe that He knows better what's better for human and what human "truly wants". isn't it normal for some people that they feel violated when they are encouraged to pray: God give me the courage to trust in your Love for me and give me humbleness to want the things You want for my life (even if it's uncomfortable and it hurts) and teach me how to abandon my own plan for my life. ... violation or not ? only I see S&M relationship - i mean M on the human side ..??

Saint John-Paul II said, "This is a science," 'a science of the heart.' Let's unpack that a little bit. *You* were brought up and educated in the 'aura' of Western materialism - the so called 'scientific' way of knowing - it is probably very difficult for you to disarticulate that from any other possible ways of knowing. So, first off when you hear the claim, "This is a *science* of...." you should consider that Western-positivist-materialist-reductionist *science* is not the only valid way of knowing - as much as they might want to claim to the contrary. So, what Saint John-Paul II might have been alluding to it that there is *a way of knowing* of the contents of your own heart that is not materialist, positivist, nor reductionist - yet is completely valid.

That’s because we need to take accountability of our own sins, not the accountability of others. Yea, women who dress provocatively should not dress that way because that is their own personal sin, garnering attention from other sinners. but you should not blame your own sins on someone else. The question was about his own sins. So they’re talking about his sins.

I came to the conclusion that no one is is truly ugly. It just depends on how the person treats themselves. Personally, God taught me to love my self that I didn't do before. Now I dress better, eat better, workout, cultivate my mind which made me more "attractive".

The mission of the Institute is to inject this it into the bloodstream of the Church! Here's a video if you're curious and open: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZWuYw6p7ncysfZc.htmlsi=vuebMwbg_LAWyzmX

However, i wonder if i am still a sinner if i admire the beautiful creation of the lord when they are just being pure and even if i admire them pleasing themselves. Without me wishing i had them if that makes sense at all. If i am a sinner then i will focus more and leave that and cleanse myself from this thought.

Also his books are excellent and encouraging. @@KimRope I completely disagree. In todays online world, most people won’t click a video that randomly talks about their sin. However, in this case, if you struggle with lust you’re immediately drawn to the video and subsequently taught about how to manage that struggle with lust. Ultimately you cannot blot out the world. You have to be in the world but not of the world. The thumbnail is representative of the world, the content is representative of how we should manage the world. I see where you’re coming from but I don’t think blinders are the solution.

I lust after my wife but it's a Godly lust. We are on a schedule every so many days and between days we agree that we don't do it. So we tease each other until we drive each other crazy with lust, for example I'll have her take her clothes off and jump around bouncing all over. I tell her how incredibly beautiful she is and yes we have to wait until the scheduled day, no jumping ahead. And we snuggle and play every night. This is amazing, we can please our inner desires in a Godly way. The anticipation is 99% of the fun! Men really need a wife and you have to have good communication and a close relationship where you can share your inner secrets for this to really work. My wife is an object, she is my Godly partner and is my best friend. I believe this is what God intended.
