Evening Oli. WOW your brake van is coming on really well 👍🏻 How I can remember brake vans on the rear of freight trains in the 70s when I was a train spotting fanatic 🤣 So seeing one being restored by a young enthusiastic man is a joy to watch 👍🏻

I’d do anything to go back and see them running at the end of every freight train, must have been fantastic to see, glad you’re enjoying the rebuild! ☺️
Good to see some more progress, Cheers

Slow and steady wins the race, Ollie. Your birthday present, late as it is, from me is on my channel now. Happy belated birthday, Ollie, hope you enjoy your birthday video, which should have been uploaded last month. I had shut down troubles. Panic over.

When the metal "lifts" from expansion due to the metal rot/rust, we call it " metal jacking" in America. :)

Hi Ollie Another good update and yes the winter is coming (time to stock up on the thermals and Bovril, lol), still all good progress though, will the extra concrete add to the weight I wonder, I don't suppose it would matter too much on a preserved railway site though. Good luck with it, excellant work as always. Thanks

Cheers Peter, I don’t think the concrete will add too much weight considering the amount of rotten wood I’ve removed, should hopefully all balance out ok!
The process that lifts the sheet metal form the channel is called rustjacking

I reckon it'll start picking up pace now mate, lots of progress coming rapidly now 👍 Might be a bit far off but have you thought about lighting and heating option yet? Glazing? 👍

Soon get rid of the tarpaulin hopefully! Lighting and heating are things im thinking about at the moment, possibly adding insulation while the cladding is off!

@@WardleRestorations that's not a half bad idea to be fair mate, makes sense while you've access to the cavity there. What's the health and safety regs say? Can you have a little calor gas fire on the go? All plumbed in etc of course..

To be fair I’d like to get the wood fire working well, that should heat it up no problem!
