That's is a truely beautiful guitar, My Dad loved to make electrics, though he always wanted to try building an acoustic ..He introduced me to Crimson guitars a few years back , we watched the videos ,we bought tools, and finishes completed a couple of builds together..and Learned along the way. Recently he passed away.. I have a number of unfinished projects to take on now , and inherited a few guitars too, he'd have really appreciated the workmanship and enjoyed this video. Wishing you all the best Ben , I look forward to seeing where you take things.

I loved watching this video and hearing your views on the JKM guitar. I’m the very proud owner of the first JKM #001. I felt the same when he brought it to my house for me to play before he made the last adjustments looking for opinions or feedback. I too fell in love and told him there and then that I had to own it. I feel very fortunate to own such a wonderful instrument and I’m so glad to hear that he’s getting the praise he deserves from people like yourself. Be well Ben, love your videos. Now go build something simple and perfect.

Lucky man. I had the table next to Jacob at the London Guitar Show and can affirm how incredibly good they are and actually saw Ben buy this. I felt a bit sorry for him though, there were loads of amps blaring away for the day so he had to go out to the stair well for people to demo them.

So does that make the wonderfully talented Sophia a consolation prize since you weren't able to hire JKM? Seriously though, I think you ended up with the right person/ right choice. (Yes I am hoping for a full acoustic build series from Sophia on this channel)

I have a Breedlove acoustic that is like that. It was from the first year (maybe two) from when they started making instruments. Redwood top, rosewood back and sides. The tiniest dot inlays. Very classy, very understated. The guitar sings and resonates on its own without ever touching the strings. I went to the shop that had it weekly for 2 years before I saved up the money to afford it (it was way outside my budget and I was a broke university student). There was some overspray and because it was sitting for a while, I got it for less than half price. I was comparing it to Stonebridge, Morgan, Cole Clark, Santa Cruz and other similar handmade instruments. This beat all of them hands down. I have never played an instrument as beautiful as my Breedlove and I'm willing to bet this guitar in the video is the only one that could match mine. Absolutely stunning instrument. Wish I could try it.

I've had my ticket for a while on this guitar, and your video reinforces for me the fact that these draw ticket should have sold out already. This guitar is amazing, but I'm also impressed with your guitar builds as well. The Copper Rodded Descendant is totally amazing and I would love to own it. I'm hoping to win this guitar and if not I'll continue saving up to hopefully own either this one or your Copper Rodded Descendant. I would be extremely happy with either one.

Also the hard perpendicular lines on the heel makes it easier to do a good looking neck reset right? Because the width won't change as you remove material.

If you want to convey music you can do that with an electric, but if you want to feel it as well, then a well constructed Acoustic guitar such as this is the way to go. Love your thoughts on what this instrument does to you Ben. As a ex Luthier in NZ I built both electric and Acoustic but building Acoustics gave me a pleasure I never got from an Electric build. Each piece of wood has a life and a tone of it's own that you can feel when you work it into either a top, back, sides or neck. Every single plane stroke or chisel stroke or even wiping your fingers over the surface, has a tone that changes with every piece of material removed and getting the balance, once they're all combined together is the art. If you, as a player, can pick up an acoustic and fall in love with the tone and feel, then the luthier has done their job right.

Like my wonderful Laughlin guitar, the JKM appears to have no traditional truss rod. My Laughlin has caron fibre reinforcement inside its wooden neck in lieu of a truss rod. Is that the same construction with the JKM?

it's not just stopping where you need to stop -- personally I think you need to focus on developing a specific Crimson aesthetic. it's easy to stop when you have completed a existing vision -- as opposed to building highly-customized PRS and Gibson inspired guitars.

Ben, let me say you can take a lot of pride out of being a 'multiplier' - in you own company and other ventures, and likewise in your channel. Many of us are enlightened by your insights, your creative approach and your attention to detail. Had you chosen to settle in your workshop and build masterpieces for chosen, lucky customers... well, it honestly would have been a loss to us, your many followers. And a shame - though certainly understandable.

Hi Ben, I used to run a small Facebook group and you were a valued member. Sorry we lost touch after the group collapsed. I have continued to follow you and crimson over the years though. I would suggest that much like Toyota has lexus and nissan has Infiniti, there's absolutely nothing to stop crimson guitars having 'crowe' guitars as a separate arm where you explore the solo builder within. More than suggest, I would urge you to have a solo workshop outside of and as well as crimson.

Huzzah. You've just discovered (just like me) that after playing electric for decades you suddenly encounter a good acoustic, and realise what you've missed all those years. And you're right to highlight those with a very high degree of hand and ear fettling because they can be unbelievable. There are a plethora of UK builders right now creating wonderful instruments - electric and acoustic - we should seek them out instead of buying overpriced US stuff just for the name.

It is impossible to perfectly intonate a stringed instrument. You ought to know that at least. From here it looks unremarkable, which is not a deal breaker, but it has to compete with other makers. So it needs endorsement by someone who the industry looks to to judge this product as an instrument. Price point is obviously important too.
