People getting picked on and bullied hits me different because I was one of the dorky kids growing up and was tormented through school, so I definitely know how it is to be beat down and feel unimportant and worthless. But now that I’m grown and can actually put a stop to it I do not tolerate anyone getting bullied or picked on especially if they have a disability. And Arissa, you’re sister is a blessing and a gift from god, she’s more than a sibling she’s a best friend, and I wish nothing but blessings for y’all and your family. Much 💕 from North Carolina 💕

Being a father of a disabled child i know the pain this lady feels. I try to tell my son to ignore the people. It gets hard. I wish everyone would love each other more then they do. Disabled people are not here to be made fun of or picked on and just like in the video no one wants to help until someone does something like this. Lets not make fun of people for difference let's embrace them as anyone else so we can all feel like we belong here. Thank you from the bottom of my soul this was a truly great film.😭😭😭

as a 'disabled' person myself, who was bullied throughout her schooling up until I went to university, and as a mum of an 11 years old now, I can tell you one thing, parent to parent : you actually can't ignore it. My parents and teachers did tell me to ignore it, but I'm 43 so those were other times. We do know better now, and harassment is better taken care of by the professionals at school etc... and if they don't take care of it, I've been known to kick some butts (verbally) now and then. I remember so vividly how I felt at this time, how I wondered why no adult ever came to protect me. I knew that what the other kids were doing was wrong, so why the adults never told them? Children will always need the same thing, their parents protection.

October 23rd, 2007. This was the day that Fiona and Francecca Pilkington finally found peace; only in death. To those who harassed this family for over ten years - to the police who ignored their cries for help when called on 33 SEPERATE OCCASIONS - and to those who witnessed this abuse go on for years and instead of offering any help or support whatsoever, chose to turn a blind eye and let it continue for so long - you are ALL guilty. May God have mercy on all your pitiful souls.

I'm 53 years old and have an emotional disability . I'm bullied in different ways by my own son's girlfriend . She tries to get me to hit her so she can get me arrested . Cops don't help , or care . All I can do is try so hard to ignore it but it ruins my thoughts all day and she does this on purpose . I figure she has more problems than I do and she should be in therapy as I am . You don't bully someone with certain disabilities and not expect a tragic out come . Educate yourselves ! I'm lucky because I'm not violent by nature and my life experience has afforded me the luxury to not react and try to ignore it . I refuse to stoop to her level of total disrespect and ignorance . Peace to all who may be experiencing a similar situation . ❤️ P. S. Even Hollywood puts out movies where the only solution is for the person being bullied to commit suicide . That's disgusting . According to the credits it's based on a true story and probably is . Well, to the person and people (my own son included) who bully me , you're not worth my aggravation and you deserve to be ignored ! To everyone out there , be careful who you trust .

But we can change these people by stepping up for those who can't. Speaking out for those who try but fail. And helping those who have been bullied recover by hanging out with them. Commenting something nice about them and many other things that could make them happy.

Here nearly five years later after watching the sequel, and I'm still deeply saddened by this tragedy. At this point, I've understood that this is a terrible part of human nature that we all need to fix together. None of us should shrink away from this and ignore it just because we haven't tortured or bullied someone in our lives. We at least need to educate ourselves and find safe ways to intervene in things like this in our communities and make sure that those responsible face the rightful punishments. If changing the world feels too overwhelming, at least change yourself for the better.

As. The mother of a disabled daughter, there were so many times I wanted to quit and do what the mother did. But I confronted the bullies, the parents, the schools, the education authority. I reduced kids to tears when I told them the statistics of them having a child with disabilities or an accident that caused disability. I made teachers and the headmaster cry when I told them how they failed my daughter and every disabled child in the school. I pressed charges against a girl who kicked my daughter in the chest so hard she left a large black bruise-luckily not breaking her sternum. Nothing came of it because she was 12-but it scared the hell out of her,and her mother moved her to another school. I moved my daughter to another school that was better. I was referred to as “scary mum” by the bullies. Nobody had ever confronted them or spoken to them like I did. Now they stay away.

sri sxc,it’s a mix to be honest. You have the good and the bad everywhere you go. There are so many good parents who teach their children well. Sometimes, all that hard work can be ruined by peer pressure. I’ve seen it happen with kids from good homes, good parents. They do whatever the “popular kids” say or do.

I saw the follow up short to this today, where Michael is older and feeling guilt and remorse. Watching that led me here to this short film. That in turn led me to read about the mother and daughter this was based upon, Fiona Pilkington. This brought tears to my eyes and a sadness to my heart. That people can treat others like this is not truly a surprise but it actually is, if you follow me.the abject failure of the housing, the police and or any other agency, the s hool system, the neighbours, friends etc.. is really upsetting. Great storytelling, very immersive. Thank you for telling this families tragic story and raising awareness.

The Simmons Family bullied Fiona Plikingotn over a number of years and this is because her disabled daughter and the Simmins fell out. There were also incidents of her son being bullied as well. The police did nothing even with many calls made by her. She made a lot of detailed logs on the abuse everyday. It's only after she set herself and daughter on fire in her car on Leicester Road, it's on the lay-bys to Hinckley and Earl Shilton where the roundabouts are that the car was found. The IPCC had to investigate this and there was action taken against the police. The Simmins had jail time but they are still back in the community. The parents moved out a year ago but the brothers still live in the area and do cause trouble in the community house sometimes.

When I was in High School... There was this physically and mentally challenged young lady in a wheelchair that use to get bullied. I wasn't greatly popular but people respected me because I was great in many different sports and studies. One day I saw a bunch of people bullying her and I stepped in ( Oh boy the difference it made). After that, I would push her to every class between periods and people stopped messing with her. I pushed her from grade 9 - 13 (advanced study) in Canada. Moral of the story; Don't be a follower, be a leader and do the right thing. It makes a difference because the school system is really messed up and takes too long to get problems solved. It's up to us as students to stop it. Stay safe and have a blessed day.

My teacher showed this to my entire social class and by the end, if not even the middle, almost all of us were in tears. He asked nothing of us afterwards except to sit in silence and write down on a slip of paper one word to describe what we just saw and/or felt. People wrote down things such as "Bullying", "Sad", and "Shocked". I remember there being so many things I wanted to say, but all I did write was "Real", because it is, and this kind of thing happens everyday. I wish this didn't happen in our time and world. But it does. And, in my teacher's own words, it's up to us, as people, to decide whether or not we want that to change.

If they continue to bully that person even when he or she is ignoring them the bully is going to look stupid to other people.

I would like to agree with you about certain cops being terrible and not helping others, but the problem is WAY bigger....its people in EVERY SINGLE JOB AND EVERY SINGLE NEIGHBORHOOD AND EVERY COMPANY, vocation, race, religion....its everywhere. There were people all along in this story who could have helped and MADE A DIFFERENCE....but no one did. Its something we ALLLLLL need to really take a look at and ensure that at least in OUR family/neighborhood/or whatever...that WE will not stand silent or look away!! Any neighbor, teacher, cop, doctor etc. in the life of the one having extreme troubles could stand up and help be a voice in defending them or being a part of the solution. Prejudice and hate takes many forms but it is ALWAYS wrong, destructive and should never ever be justified!!!! NOT EVER!!!

The guilt one feels for parents and family getting involved and hurting. It’s unimaginable. There's this one amazing kid in my school. I don't like saying names but he is disabled and can't really communicate correctly. He's gotten bullied so much where he has cried for days. I eventually got fed up with the bullys and punched 3 in the face and 1 slammed against a locker. The victim of the bullying was standing there for a few seconds. I smiled and he ran up and hugged me. All 4 bullys got suspended and may not go to my school anymore. He's an amazing person and we should always be nice to people even if they are different then us. We are all human, don't forget that! Just live, it doesn't matter who you are. It doesn't matter what you look like or sound like. We all should hold hands and stand up together. Everyone is unique in their own way.. you can't change someone, we are all our own person.. and beautiful. ❤️ Edit: 1k likes?! Wow! All of you are amazing! ❤️❤️

As someone who had been bullied all through my schooling years I can’t tell you how realistic this felt. It was a bit traumatic to watch. I’m so sorry to hear this was based on true story.

Sorry you had to endure bullying. I too was bullied for years as a child, for me it was because of my severe eczema. I frequently had large parts of my body be raw exposed flesh. I endured enough physical pain without having emotional torment piled on top. I had people who would walk in front of me at school shouting "beware the lepor"& "unclean, clear the way". My school never took action when I reported it. One day I snapped & gave one of the hardest kids in our year a black eye & got a week of detentions (which I never attended). That bully actually offered to shake my hand for standing up for myself but I declined the offer, at least the bullying declined after that. This was one of the hardest videos I've ever watched on you tube

Same I’ve been bullied but only by a few people. Like specifically this guy he kept on picking on me, like he called me anorexic he said I have a big forehead, of course the students didn’t do anything , my friends, teachers they hardly did anything, it’s when I went to the shops in the morning with my dad and we saw him there and he gave him a dirty look. it makes you feel like hopeless and stuff

The law states that discrimination against disability is illegal. The legal system have done nothing in this case. And they continue to do nothing. Recognise this not only as bullying- but an act of terrorism.

Yes In the uk in the village Barwell a mother and daughter committed suicide due to young teenagers bullying her and her child , the would throw rocks and food at the house , and many other things it eventually came to her killing both herself and her disabled daughter by setting a car on fire , the police did nothing and the people who bullied the mother and daughter into suicide didn't get any punishment , and now because it's been about 5 years they have there own family's and nice houses , they live close to me , and the police did nothing
