    Very clear water. Well done. Bright baits allow quick response without a target. If they disappear, it's a fish. Like a drag race start, watching the Red go out, rather than the Green going on.

    Saw your Tidewater Diaries with Flip Pallet. Loved Walker Qay Chronicles. Living on the edge of adventure. I anticipated that episode was a passing of the torch from Flip to you as the guide who fishes the edge. Love your shows. I look forward to each season and now I can see You Tube adventures. OBTW loved Flip's Mangrove plant. FISH ON! ed

    CA, love your flats class on WAYPOINT TV. Also love the Tidewater Diaries. I'm up here in Culpeper Va. Can you point me to a Fresh Water guru that works with you? I know you did a FW episode. I'll be trying some cross over with the lures you use e.g. Z Man. I look forward to getting the Old Towne out in the Spring. FISH ON! ed

    surprised to hear this time of year sent isn't in the top three. Lure speed, size and profile, and scent. The water is so cold I'm dead sticking baits and using scent to help the fish find the bait.

  • @flatsclasscharters

    Scent definitely helps this time of year but year round formula with arties scent would be down the list. But dead sticking with scent on the coldest days or when water temp is trending down definitely a winning combination

    CA big fan I listened to all your videos when I’m working and I’ve learned so much from you. I wanted to ask, how do you feel about speed clips on artificial lures?

  • @flatsclasscharters

    Honestly I don’t care for speed clips that much… trust my knots better and my knots shed grass

    Except for how Crystal clear the water is, sort of reminds me of Louisiana. You could cane pole giant redfish. Love the video CA.

    @flatsclasscharters please come do a speckled trout episode up here. We have a wonderful fishery here. You can catch an 8lb bass on 1 cast and then turn around and cast in the same area and pull out a 3 to 5 lb speck. I've even gotten a flounder and then a bass cast after cast here fishing feeder creeks into Dog River. We even have some snook if you know where to look for them

    Great video and great information Captain CA, what size of lures would you start out with a 3,4,5,7?

  • @alexanderren1097

    @alexanderren1097

    5 ай бұрын

    Personally, I’d start at 3” unless I know how big the majority of baitfish are in the area I’m fishing, in which case matching the hatch may be a good idea. Although there are times when you don’t want to match the hatch, i.e. during the mullet run when your lure will get completely lost in the mix of all the bait out there. In that case you want to be different enough to make your lure stand out. Either be slightly different in size, throw something noisier, more brightly colored, and/or something that creates more turbulence in the water. Hopefully my answer is close to what Capt CA will tell you. In which case it means I’m learning ;)
