    I can 10000000% attest to this working! It’s insane. I usually warm up hitting my 58 degree wedge and do 40-50 yard shots and I come up short a bit around 40 yards and literally just by doing this tip with the same or less effort the ball is traveling 55/60 yards and I instantly picked up 5-10 mph ball speed by swinging less and holding that feeling of the club pointing up more on the downswing. Hope this can work with all my clubs! Thank you!!!

    Y'all are by far the best instructor's I've seen and the Top Speed System has helped me immensely! I'm 6'6, and I have an early extension problem. I get in the slot, get good rotation but it still pops up! Would shortening my backswing help with that? Thanks for the tip if you have time to give me one! Keep up the great work!

    I appreciate this very much, I am doing fine with the half swing but needs work on the full swing. Looking at other comments, I feel that to do this right, you still need to have a good foundation in swing mechanics. Meaning, one has to hit fairly consistent with a controlled swing, but just needs the benefit of club head speed with lag added. If a swing has many flaws, this just added to the confusion. For myself, I can make good contact with fair accuracy, but needs distance, and this is perfect for me. Thank you again.

    Paulie, one thing, while all this is certainly NOT easy IMO, a key factor is understanding that the hands bottom out slightly to the right of your right knee. I know that personally, I had great trouble with this part because I always wanted my hands go constantly, and consistently go DOWN toward impact, and have the club face travel down equidistant to my hand in this motion. It's a lag killer, and it's common in over 99% of us amateurs. It is non-existent in scratch players and obviously professionals. They allow the club to catch up and release. Can't explain it with words. Good luck.

    What’s the main difference between casting and lagging, I’ve never tried to lag the club because I’m worried it’s actually casting

  • @wallstreetoneil
    @wallstreetoneil2 жыл бұрын

    For me, the easiest way to explain this 'feel' to people is to have the very first move in the transition, to immediately have the feeling of turning/twisting the right hand/palm to point straight back. If you want to develop lag, which leads to more distance, which also comes from NOT having the clubface open when you deliver the handle forward, you MUST have the first move at the TOP / Transition being a twisting motion on the grip to start the face closing, left knuckles down, - if you don't, more lag will only mean balls going further right.

  • @steveperry1344

    i have to be careful of that because in my case i can have a lot of shaft lean but if i don't change the face to close i hit a wicked push. i've been doing it by using a strong grip and a bit of a closed clubface at address and it keeps the ball going left and if i get it right a nice draw or a pull hook if i over cook it but i would rather left than right.

  • @wallstreetoneil

    @wallstreetoneil

    @@steveperry1344 I've recently chosen to use this strong and historically shut, but modernly now 'square', position at the top to play the Morikawa/DJ/Keopka, shut-faced 'fade' with my irons. There is something very satisfying about coming into a ball, with lots of shaft lean, a very strong position at the top, and then playing a crisply hit, powerful, high fade - without ever having to worry if you have the club square enough to prevent a slice. Give it a try.

  • @steveperry1344

    @steveperry1344

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@wallstreetoneil ok, with the grip and action i have i get low drawing shots but for me to hit the fade i have to aim left with the clubface open and i think lee trevino to pull it off. i just have to be careful of a double cross and pull it way left.

  • @wallstreetoneil

    @wallstreetoneil

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@steveperry1344 When you go down the road of stronger 'modern' face control, that stays much more square to even partially shut to the path, we have to learn a 'new' release pattern that does NOT involve rolling the forearms to square the open face at impact, but instead, we have to 'feel' the forearms not rotating but instead the right palm going to the sky through/after impact - the club will close anyway, but we have to feel this. Rapid forearm rotation was taught and required for the generations of players that were instructed to be toe-up at first and second parallel - it was required to rapidly close an open face. All the modern long guys on tour, that all play high fades, are all toe-down into impact, very slightly out-to-in, with 12-15 degrees of forward shaft-lean. Work on hitting high fades, with a strong face, until you no longer worry about the ball snapping left - and watch Morikawa's swing in slow-motion

    I hear people talking about “lag” a lot in their training videos as if everyone watching already knows exactly what “lag” is. But I do not know exactly what “lag” is. Can you explain or define it in simple terms?

  • @tonyk501

    @tonyk501

    2 жыл бұрын

    Lag is essentially a delay in the amount of time it takes to bring the club from your backswing down to the point of impact with the ball. In short, more lag generates more power and distance. But lag can only be generated effectively when you've first cleared your hips during the swing, because if the club follows your hips forward at exactly the same time, you won't generate as much power as you would if the club head was "lagging behind" a bit behind your hips. It's like uncoiling a whip or swinging a baseball bat. The longest home runs in baseball are hit by batters who generate the most lag and bat speed. The tail end of the whip or baseball bat will always be traveling at a faster speed than your hands, as your hands form the axis, much like the axis of a wheel on a bicycle does. Similarly, the rotation of your hips and hands and weight transfer from back foot to front foot all act as the axis in a bat swing or golf swing. The longer amount of time the club is left behind your hands and hips, the more club head speed and power you will generate. The key trick is to still be able to keep your head and shoulders in the right stable position during this process so that the leading edge of the club doesn't come up and blade or skull the ball. Since a golf swing happens very quickly to the human eye, only slow motion cameras can really give a better visual indication of how much lag got generated in a golfer's ball strike. Fred Couples would be a good golf swing to look at for seeing lag in slow motion.
