Makes sense

Just recently bought myself an Anbernic RG556, for Android games, Streaming like Remote Play and Gamepass and ofc Emulators like PS2, Gamecube and apparently even Switch but I have no plans to emulate NS games on it since I have a Switch. This one looks nice for non-joystick older retro games, plus way more portable. Although there are some with joysticks that are almost small and compact, called the Anbernic RG Cube. Thought about getting that one but I prefer a nicer bigger screen plus the one I bought has an AMOLED display.

I've seen the rg cube. It's a bit more money. What you got is pretty cool too

I love anbernic handhelds and you need to have a look at the RG35XX SP it’s the same chipset same menu and interface but it’s clamshell just like the game boy advance SP. Have a look as the company that sent you this device also sell them.

Yeah, I have a plan to get my hands on the sp as well as a few others. I am more of a psp guy, so I like the dual sticks of the other units

Classic Gameboy, Super NES, Famicom and transparent.

It's hard to go wrong with the RG35xx or 28xx line of Anbernic products. My personal favourite is the RG SP but hey, with the exception of the RG 35XX (2024) refresh, it's a fun SOC for emulation on Linux.

Exactly. I know a lot of people are getting excited about the sp. I'm not sure I like the clamshell designs.

@@GearsAndTech Trust me lad, I've the silver and the grey iterations and if you told me that Nintendo had made them, I'd have believed you.

Honestly it's very underwhelming with the lack of joysticks and the overall underpowered hardware, but for retro before the GameCube and PS2 it's alright

I'm not saying you're wrong... but why would you want to play those systems on this device? It doesn't even have an analog stick. This is probably strictly designed as a retro gaming machine. When I say retro I don't include n64 and it's competitors.

I know what you're saying. It's a slippery slope. For only a few dollars more you can get one with analogue sticks. But reality is ps1 didn't implement sticks well. You can use the d pad for most games. I'll be checking out some other devices soon

I am a huge fan of playing retro games on original hardware. But, this small device is so great in so many ways. When I gave it to my son he ditched his switch and brings this thing everywhere he goes. He loves it. I think there is a strong market for these sorts of things

You need to educate yourself on the subject of handheld emulators. 1. Its less than $60 2. It can do the whole ps1 library easily, as for ps2, no device under $100 can do it 3. It can play n64 4. No handheld under $100 can do Xbox

And actually for ps2 and Xbox emulation, the cheapest device that will actually play the games well is over $150. You really don’t know what your talking about

How’s that? Besides the smallish buttons this thing is a beast, with the exact chipset as the 35xx plus, 35xx h and 35xx sp, which are some of the best devices for the price point

What a lazy review. It's almost as if you just want the entire thing to be done with. Not even a single gameplay video.

I'm not sure that's totally true. I do buy the knock off game carts to use on my original hardware. This is the first real Chinese emulator devices I've used. And it's really good
