    I lived most of my life close to Cologne and still spend a lot of time there. I don't want to leave - sometimes Cologne can be a bit dirty and ugly but it depends on the district and the relaxed, open-minded attitude and the scene-life make up for it; plus, my friends live in the area. Too bad I didn't see you when you visited; would have loved to talk to you.

    6:10 funny that you give a point against Berlin since almost all of my German friends have said Berlin is the friendliest city in Germany. Including those who moved to 'friendlier' cities like Cologne and Leipzig. Perhaps as a tourist Cologne is friendlier but after living in the city, Berlin definitely is friendlier.

    Huh - interesting! Berliners have a reputation of being rude. Even if you google this topic you'll see Reddit comments on this and the experiences of your friends seem to be in the minority. But Berliners are laid-back and blunt, which is also a positive, so if we look at it this way, their experience might make more sense. I haven't lived there so can't say for sure.

    @@DatingBeyondBorders yeah, it definitely makes a difference when you live in the city or not. Have definitely heard of Berlin's reputation for being rude but that's mostly been from English speaking sources. From German speaking sources, Berlin usually has a reputation of being nowhere near as blunt or rude as the rest of Germany. Even DW (a German media channel) released a video about this some years ago. It's a well-known stereotype in Germany that Berlin is so different from the rest of Germany that it's not considered as part of Germany by most Germans because of how quirky and friendly Berliners are to everyone instead of the stereotypical serious German. But Germans probably have a different definition of friendliness than everyone else.

    Leipzig and Berlin are more "alternative", because they are in the East, but people in the western cities are more friendly and in my opinion Cologne has the coolest people in Germany, even though I like Hamburg the most, because I feel I fit there with my type of personality.

    @@macroxela As a southeast European foreigner who has spent quite some time in Germany, I have to say that comparing friendliness in Berlin and in Cologne is almost useless... from my experience. People in Cologne were definitely the friendliest Germans I have ever met (e.g. friendlier and more easy going than people of Hamburg and those in southern Germany), while Berliners were less friendly, less polite, rougher and more aggressive than all of these.

    As far as the support for alternative dating preferences, i think that is a good idea to be accepting. However, the research, my personal experiences with friends that are poly and seeing non poly people trying to be poly.. It's a bad thing to encourage or to see as an expected relationship type. It's a very hard thing to do in a balanced manner that supports the two primary partners. Frequently it encourages people to avoid work in relationships because they have options. Can it work yes. Does it work on a large scale no.

    @@Bloodark124 I agree, however I find it concerning if what she stated that 1/3 of the german population finds monogamy outdated/polyam to be preferred.. that's a bit way to high for a general population given the interpersonal problems. When you're young, single (ok polyam.. so able to have more partners/non-married, and have no kids that's not a bad thing. But when you get into a formal committed relationship with kids+marriage.. it creates a lot of extremely negative externalities.

    They are also very selfish people. Their main partner might know and be ok with the agreement but then they go look for other people and don't let them know they have a main partner. When the 'side piece' knows and refuse to have anything with that person they are like 'Whats the problem?I'm in an open relationship and my wife/girl knows about it so you should be ok with me wanting to f.ck/date you on the side'.

  • @toomuchinformation

    @toomuchinformation

    4 ай бұрын

    @@shelbyspeaks3287Well it's different contexts. For a start polygamy is banned in most parts of the West. What you're referring to is Polyamory or open relationships. With Polyamory the focus is on multiple sexual relationships (but not too many), whilst open relationships focuses more on having hookups with different sexual partners. In the West the focus is on sexual liberation. Polygamy is often associated with sexual exploitation and abuse of the wives. Hence the bad reputation polygamy has in Europe.

    Open relationships will produce broken lost children. In order to have a functioning society a strong family unit is necessary, because a family is what creates a society. A broken family with no regards to values will create a nation of broken character with no regard to values. A mother and father who is having affairs with random people will produce children who are unstable, hedonistic, and selfish. This will cause a degeneration of society. I am predicting what the future will look like if "hookup culture" and "open relationships" become more accepted. This is how the Roman Empire collapsed. The people were placated with cheap entertainment / hedonism. "Open relationships" are essentially a promise within a couple that both partners are unable to commit to each other and that they will pursue pleasure instead of just share in each others love even once the infatuation and excitement of the new relationship fades away.

    "1/3 of germans believe that monogamy is outdated" dude , i'm way far from Germany , but even here where i live i can notice that among the young people ( 18-30 years ) that's true , plus : the LGBT is 📈 and meanwhile the "normal couples" are 📉

    Yes, youth may think so but .... how do you think you'll end up in your old days? For that you need TRUE LOVE and for true love you don't start one week or one month before ... it takes A G E S, a shared history, the most important facts of life: children, a family, parents and their old days, backing each other loyally through illness, alzheimer, expenses, unemployment, mortgages, education, debts and health issues in the old days. No, you need TRUE LOVE.
