Greatest asian male volleyballer. With the talents and skills the americans, latins and europeans are Ishikawa maintained his career in the europe despite of his shorter height. Such an incredible player. Tho I am european I followed him since I watched him during Haruko finals when I visited Japan in 2014. Hearing that he joint Modena I moved to Italy to see him play and I am glad to witness his journey.

At 1:46, didn't expect one of the commentators to do some wordplay with Ishikawa's name 😳: "...Ishikawa hasn't lost any of his Yuki..." with "yu(u)ki" here means "courage" in Japanese 👏. The kanji for "Yuki" in his name has a different meaning but it's still very cool !!!

Ishikawa was able to achieve his goal of bringing a medal back to Japan!!!! Soooo proud to be Japanese

Japan is like everyone second team, everyone love a good underdog and japan are being even more than that in the recent year. I can totally imagine them lifting a trophy in the next years, their squad is young and only get better.

No wonder this was such a big deal. It's their first podium finish since 2009.

Yes that was history for them. 1st in VNL since it started in 2017. Last yr was their first time in the top8 as well. They’ve gone thru a lot until Ishikawa’s leadership and talent brought them to where they are now.

It was a long time ago, but they won a gold medal at the Olympics. Not only that, but they also won two silver medals at the World Cup and two bronze medals at the World Championships. It's a long time ago, but it's still their record.

@@chrisbacka8362 Yuji was. But he is injured! WE must also recognize his contributions before he was injured. It is a back injury and serious one. What I heard is that the Japanese volleyball coaches want Yuji gets fully recovered before the Paris Olympics. That is why he is keeping a low profile. Yuji is by far the most popular player in the men's volleyball, and you want to have him in the team so that funs support the Ryujin Nippon in Paris!

Japan vs Italy have produced one of the best games both in VNL 2022 and 2023.

I’ve always loved Japans OH group. Ishikawa was mentored by yanagida and fukazawa, and now he’s mentoring takahashi. It’s incredible

Japan have been on a roll, started off very strong this year! I’m so incredibly proud of all of them, especially Ishikawa who let his team to making history 💪 extremely upset that he did not get MVP despite being the leader in stats (and I’m sure A LOT of volleyball fans are as well), but it’s alright since we all know who the real MVP was here

I don’t think Ishikawa will go to Plusliga. He will retire in Milan. Everyone loves him there plus he loves to be there. For sure milan will do everything to keep him there too

Que gusto ver a un equipo como Japón haciendo esto, puro trabajo en equipo, puro orden, si el jugador comete el error lo acepta, si el punto del contrario esta dentro ellos lo marcan sin problema..que gran equipo y verlos celebrar un tercer lugar con alegría cuando muchos futbolistas no aceptan la medalla de plata, que gusto ver este deporte.
