THIS Is The GADA Watch I've Waited For | Traska Summiteer 36

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Traska watches have always been on my radar, and after 2 long years, I've finally pulled the trigger on the Traska Summiteer 36mm v4 that just came out in 2023. This US-based microbrand has a proprietary hardening process that makes a whole lot of sense for a GADA watch, so I've been looking forward to seeing how that works in the flesh. Will this $600 Explorer alternative live up to my expectations? Let's find out.

GADA: Go anywhere, do anything. P.S. I forgot to screw the crown in on multiple shots. Don't worry, it doesn't actually look that long once it's screwed in!

Great review, I too have the same watch and I love the vintage vibe it gives off. The sizing is perfect for my 6.75 inch wrist. Looking forward to your head to head with the Baltic, as this is another brand / model I’m looking at too. Also interested in the Lorier Astra (another vintage inspired design).

That is a beautiful watch. I’m glad they were able to handle the QC problem. I’m hoping they are just as accommodating even if you don’t have a watch review channel. Thanks!

That’s the best part. They didn’t (and probably still don’t) know that I have a watch review channel, and I’m not even the original owner. I got this unit on the used market. I have to commend them for standing behind their product!

I had the black with a QC issue. They fixed it no questions asked and very quickly. I now have the blue with no issues. Great watch and customer service

I have a Traska Venturer (steel blue) since one year: the case, the bracelet.. all is in perfect condition. The miyota movement is very good, well calibrated. This watch is really very comfortable to wear. I have zero QC problems. When my model was release, some people had alignment problem with some indices (generally the one at 12 o'clock). The problems seem to have been taken care of by the warranty. In the future, maybe I'll take a Summiter 36 like yours, but with the "sage green" dial. ... I imagine that you'll have a Venturer GMT ? 🧐😄

You’re psychic! I did get the Venturer GMT, in the same colour way you have. 🤣 That Sage Green dial for the Summiteer is stunning too. You can’t go wrong with that!

I returned a white Venturer a few weeks ago bec of a few misaligned indices. After I saw them, I could no longer unsee them.

I’d be worried about how brittle and fragile the numerals would be, made from lume. I mean, the lume on hands just crumbles away if touched with a screwdriver. Maybe they mix in some epoxy with the lume to strengthen it? I have no idea. I’m a little surprised at the QC issues on your watch. I’ve owned a couple Traskas and they were fine. Of course I was not looking at the hands under magnification.

Fair point. I didn’t think about that, but you may be right. It’s hard to imagine these lumed indicies holding up against hard knocks. I guess time will tell.

The colour is just perfection with your complexion! I continue to feel very tempted by the new 36mm summiteer, but there is always something holding me back. I think it may be exactly its very explicit positioning as a sporty GADA with referencing a famous Rolex pattern that just means more expressive watches keep distracting me. I may be so wrong, but when considering it, deciding between the blue, green, and sandstone has also proven really difficult for me. It's a very refined design, but the repeated QC issues reported on shipped Traskas also is a worrying aspect.

  • @WristWatching

    @WristWatching

Thank you! Honestly besides the 3,6,9 pattern, there’s not much else that’s similar to the Rolex. Different handset, crystal, case shape, bracelet and dial. I feel you on the colour front, I struggled between those same 3 colours too! The yellow would be my close second pick, the blue handset on that just pops.

@@WristWatching yes, I agree that factually there is plenty of difference, and yet the association to Rolex somehow seems stronger here than on e.g. the Farer Discovery. It's because, I think, it is trying to reinterpret a kind of timeless explorer look, and while it is a genre, this is possibly more than other takes on it, meant to blend into many situations.

Great review Harvind. Sorry to hear you have had some issues. I narrowed my Gada watch search down to this in black, the Baltic hermetique in blue, or the Smiths PRS-25 in gilt finish. In the end I went for the Smiths...and I really don't like it. It's the third Smiths I have bought and I am really not impressed. The Crystal looks so cheap where it meets the case. It's very opaque around the bottom adge making it look like a cheap plastic crystal and destroys the aesthetic completely. The Baltic may be the one as I had seen that the Traska had hand finishing issues. Hope you get it to your standards buddy 😊

Thanks, John! I’ve been wanting a Smiths for ages too but something always held me back from pulling the trigger. I think I would’ve had the same experience you did, so I guess that’s out of the picture now. I think you’re going to love this Traska or the Baltic much more!

Can't agree - the Smiths Gilt Explorer is pure art. It is stunning in every aspect to me, crystal and all. It is high dome sapphire. Lovely. What you are saying, thus, makes no sense to me. I own this Traska in Blue - a perfect companion with jeans. I passed on the Baltic despite the pleasing design as the bracelet options are not for me at all. Sporty face and dressy links look unbalanced. I suppose, no amount of good looks are of any use if the fit is not just so. (Just like marriage).
